3 out of 5 eggsRosewill R6XR8-BK Screw-less ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: It’s a relatively large case. I had no problem fitting my graphics card and my full ATX motherboard. The audio/usb/fw ports at the top are a good idea. I also like the fact that it has 5, 5.25” bays.

Cons: The hard drive mounts need to be reevaluated by the manufacturer. They close off the rear of the hard drive and make it very difficult to access and thus difficult to route wires through. They impede the use of an ide-sata bridge. The side inlet duct also has no filter on it. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a filter on the front 120mm fan. This is going to be a dusty mess for me in the future. It only has 4, 3.5” bays.

Other Thoughts: The changes I would suggest are minor, but would make a huge difference for users. I would add an additional 3.5” bay and then make the mounts for these bays the same as they are for the R5605. I would also put a fan onto the side intake. All in all, I would say it’s a good buy if you don’t have to make use of all of the 3.5” bays.

5 out of 5 eggsS'all good

Pros: It's very roomy and has a solid build. With the psu bundle, it was perfect for a relatively cheap mid-range computer.

Cons: On arrival, I found one of the 120mm fans missing, although that is probably a positive thing.

Other Thoughts: Definitely worth it. I'd buy another if need be.

5 out of 5 eggsMy New Favorite Case

Pros: Having been a system builder for over 20 years, I have adopted this new case from Rosewill as my new standard large build case. The best part about this new case is the hard drive bay. I like the quick mount drive trays and the way the whole HD cage easily slides in and out. I also like the way Rosewill mounted the power switch, USB, 1394a, and audio jacks near the top of the case. Both my clients and myself like the perforated front drive bay covers. This gives a nice contemporary look without being gaudy looking. The quick release latches for the optical bays are a great improvement over the previous drive rails. The case is very sturdy overall. An excellent buy for the money. Highly recommended.

Cons: I wish Rosewill would source a better quality case fan, or better yet, just knock some money off the case price and sell it minus the cheap fans. The included sleeve bearing fans are just way too noisy and do not meet customer expectations. I end up removing them and throwing them away. I install an Arctic Cooling AF12L in place of the rear exhaust fan and then install an Arctic Cooling model AF12025PWM fan in place of the front intake fan. If you use a vapor chilled graphics card the end result will be a nearly silent PC.

Other Thoughts: The quick locks for the expansion card bays are rather flimsy. I simply remove the plastic lock-down assembly and use the provided #6 hex head screws instead. I had to bend to power supply brackets a little to get the screw holes to line up. No big deal.

This case supports both HD and AC'97 front panel audio wiring.

Now if NewEgg will only offer an instant rebate and free shipping I will order a bunch of them. ;>)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: Very roomy. No sharp edges. The tooless drive bays are well built. I love the hard drive caddy. The hard drive cage is very handy when I have to remove it to install a fan. Power button on the top. Very good looking case. Plenty of screws provided.

Cons: Could have more room at the bottom. Plugging the connectors onto the board wasn’t easy. The cpu air duct doesn’t even reach the cpu fan. I guess you can try to put an extra fan on the tube. The expansion slot holders looks flimsy, so I removed them and used the screw provided, no big deal. The stock fans are loud.

4 out of 5 eggsWould buy again!

Pros: Nice solid design, will not leave you thinking you on x-files. The front panels are metallic mesh, which really helps air flow. Panels remove very easily. I like having the usb front plugs up top, very convenient. Tool less design truly tool less. No problems with this case what so ever, will be building a new PC for co-worker, this will buy this case for that build as well as any future builds not wanting a side panel.

Cons: Front Fan was LOUD!!! Only reason why this didn't get a 5th egg.

Other Thoughts: As far as the wiring goes, I was able to re-route the wiring from the top to run behind the casing for the 5.25 bays and HDD bays. I dry fitted before zip tying them, they were just long enough for asus M2N SLI MoBo. Also, would recommend using SATA HDD's for this, the space is pretty tight with both power and data cables going to the HDD's.

5 out of 5 eggsA+ 4 $

Pros: Good case for the money and easy to get around in. Front USB, power and other cables reached the motherboard fine. Hard drive bays are cool (wiring is a little goofy but all in all it is good)

Cons: Fans are loud, go figure though with 2 x 120mm fans – I might be changing those out later. Power supply was a little difficult to screw in but that might have been the power supply and not the case.

Other Thoughts: Overall it a good looking case that seams to be pretty sturdy. Plenty of open bays and a ample amount of space.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: • Price • Front I/O at the top • Front intake is filtered • Plenty of room to work (for a mid-tower) • the drive bays are great - 5.25 you just have to slide in • No Sharp edges • 2 x 12cm fans for great airflow • looks nice

Cons: • The tool free piece for the expansion slot had to be removed for my 9800GTX to go in • Would have liked E-sata on the front (but I don't think any case in this price range has it)

Other Thoughts: Overall, this is the best mid-tower case I have worked with.

5 out of 5 eggsNot too shabby

Pros: Based on the other reviews i read here i expected louder fans and a couple of plugs that wouldn't be right and no speaker. I guess this company actually listens to its buyers cause mine has a speaker, the power led lead is 2 single leads to accommodate a 2 or 3 or whatever type pin configuration you need, the fans are pretty quiet in my opinion, and everything went together pretty smoothly. the captured thumbscrews on the side panel make it easy to lock down even if you break the screwless latches. very clean, no sharp edges, very cool HDD tray bay that lets you take out one or all 4 HDDs at once.

Cons: I can only see one bad thing and that is that unless you have really long IDE cables or are using sata you'll have to put your CD and/or DVD drive pretty low on the tower. I'm old skool so I'm sure all you kids nowadays have no need for the old teckmology I keep trying to squeeze another year or 10 out of. Also I'm sure this is not Rosewill's fault but the cables on my power supply are no where near long enough to hook up all my junk. But that is probably just me clinging to dated(or outdated) equipment. it's nothing 20 dollars worth of cables won't fix. or i could just bite the bullet and fork over the money for a couple of SATA drives but until these are fried beyond all use. it's not gonna happen.

Other Thoughts: If you are old skool and cheap as hell like I am and think paying 50 bucks for a case is a waste of money, think again. It is well worth the extra 30 bucks over a cheapy piece of you know what from your local computer bargain basement. overall this is a very clean easy to work with unit. and i almost forgot that they must have improved the front cover design as well cause it is literally a snap to take off. If i ever need a case again I would definitely buy another one.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Great case for the price. 120mm fan slots front and back. really is screw driver less which is pretty nice.

Cons: fans it comes with are super loud. I recommend replacing them.
the screw less mounting for pci/pci-e cards seems pretty flimsy I just removed it and used screws like the good old fashioned days
reset button is really small - you cannot press it with your finger

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great case. Requires no tools. Very nice setup. Love HD tray. Everything is easily accessible. Out of last 5 cases this one is the best. Great buy for the money.

Cons: Fans are vey very loud. Had to replace them rightaway. Case has no speaker, so you may want to consider buying a small buzzer or something like that. For a mid tower case is too large. i'd say it is more in between mid tower and full tower.
Shipping charges are a bit high.

Other Thoughts: Overall it is a great case. I love it. Very easy to work with. The price is right. What else can you ask for?
