5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Case

Pros: Beautifully designed server case. Created with the server room in mind and attention given to the areas that servers need (cooling, space efficiency, ease of use, security, quality of components).

Cons: Hmm... I guess the fans are pretty loud... but that's not really an issue for a server room.

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to re-iterate what other folks have stated here, in that the power supply doesn't have SATA power connectors. I used up our stash of converters on our latest server that used this case because this case wasn't reviewed at the time. To find some adapters quickly, just do a newegg search for "sata power adapter" and you'll get some good affordable adapter options.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: Built very solid, can handle full ATX motherboards and (7) full-length cards. High quality fit and finish. Great cooling and layout.

Cons: Power supply does not have a modern layout of connectors: no SATA power or PCI-e power!!!

Other Thoughts: I have built many computers based on this case (and many other SuperMicro cases). Never once did a power supply fail. Power supply quality is great, as is cooling. SUPERMICRO PLEASE UPDATE THE POWER SUPPLY FOR EFFICIENCY AND CONNECTORS!!!

5 out of 5 eggsCSE-733i-645B Chassis

Pros: Extremely well built. Heavy duty steel. Excellent cooling. Included floppy drive. Beefy power supply. Removable HDD cage. Overtemp & LAN LEDs, Intrusion switch.

Cons: HEAVY!! But that's what you should expect from enterprise class hardware. Fans are loud but very effective. If you don't like loud fans, look elsewhere or plan on replacement.

Other Thoughts: This is an awesome case that has all the little touches you want. Ducted cooling on front. Front panel is a snap if using a Supermicro board. Used with a C2SBE-O board, Q9300, Highpoint 2640x4 SAS/SATA RAID 5 with 3 Seagate 250GB & 4 GB DDR2 800. Server 2003 hauls the mail!!

4 out of 5 eggsSupermicro 733I

Pros: Enterprise grade, heavy duty case and SuperMicro/Able.com 645 watt power supply. Extremely well built, comes with over temp light with protection circuitry, Lan led and cooling system, removable drive cage, good stock cooling.

Cons: While the 645 watt power supply is fantastic quality and has excellent current capability, it features only legacy 4 pin molex connectors. It has NO SATA, or six pin PCI-E or eight pin PCI-E. You can purchase the 865 watt power supply, (PWS-865-PQ), which has four 6 pin PCI-E and a couple of SATA. I think it might have two eight pin EPS 12V connectors that you can re-wire/terminate or adapt to 8 pin PCI-E. Another alternative is that you can get from supermicro an adapter plate part number 01-01-733605-XX1 for the purpose of mounting a third party power supply. No user manual, you have to down load it from the supermicro site!! I'm giving the product a 4 egg only because Supermicro suggests that you use my SATA/PCI-E motherboard in a case with a legacy only power supply.

Other Thoughts: Works best with Supermicro MB's because of the cooling system and fan control otherwise the fans are operating full speed. I'm using the C2SBX which can monitor and control 6 fans. If you are planning on using this case with cutting edge hardware you will have to do something with the power supply. If you can afford it the SC743TQ-865B-SQ may be a better choice. It's about double the money.

My Build: Supermicro CSE-733I-645B case, Supermicro C2SBX MB, Q9450 core 2 quad, ACTICA 2X2 GB DDR3 1333 memory, Tunig 120 Tower, EVGA 9800GX2, WD Veloca-raptor 300GB HDD, WD 500 GB AAKS HDD, Plextor DVD/CD burner, Ultra X3 800 watt modular

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very Nice server case; well built & sturdy, (heavy, but it is a server). Finish and fit are very good, and internal space is plentiful. Cables & connectors well done and ideintified.

Cons: 2 cons
1) no SATA power connectors - be sure you have adaptors MOLEX to SATA.
2) included fans ar very LOUD: even with MB speed control. At full speed they are intolerably loud. I am looking for some replacement fan options in order to quiet this jet down a little. Sure does run cool.

5 out of 5 eggsrockin' case

Pros: Its hard to beat Supermicro for quality, well-built cases. I now have purchased 5 of these for server builds.

Cons: Case fans are noisey...but keep in mind these are high rpm fans in a server case.

Other Thoughts: Newegg also rocks......

5 out of 5 eggsFunctional and Solid!

Pros: Drive cage design is easy to remove and work on. One of the easiest server cases to install a mainboard in and lots of room to work with. Very solid construction and no sharp edges to worry about.

Cons: The front fan shroud doesn't force air into the drive cage, so additional methods may be needed to keep drives cool.

Other Thoughts: The fans on this case are very loud and powerfull, so invest in some method of controlling their speed to keep noise levels down.

5 out of 5 eggsNice case

Pros: Cool, good looking, excellent PSU

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: After using Supermicro for my rackmount servers I decided to get one for my new PC. It works well and keeps my system cool.

For the user who said it uses a "non-name brand PSU", I hope you take that back. The Ablecom PSU's are high quality PSU's designed for reliability.

4 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Case comes with a floppy drive already installed. Took off one star for the non-name brand PSU. Rear fan is VERY loud unless your mobo does fan speed throttling (the Asus NCLV-D does.) PSU fan runs even with computer turned off. Some mobo standoffs are pre-installed and not removable; nothing a Dremel tool can't handle.
