4 out of 5 eggsOk but make sure you buy the extras

Pros: Needed to upgrade the case for our file server for a dual power supply setup. This was the best value. Case is solid and no problems. If I need another one, I would buy this again.

Cons: "IF" you are not using a SuperMicro motherboard in this case, you will need several things to make your life easier. If you are not using a SuperMicro server motherboard, make sure you have the front panel power and LED adapter cable. It is a 16-20 pin cable that is for sale on NewEgg. Also Fan Extension Cables. If you are not using a full sized mother board from Super Micro or using something else like a normal ATX computer mother board, the fan cables will not reach, you will need the extension cables.

Other Thoughts: This case is built like you would want a case to be built. Rock Solid. The only down side is if you are building something non standard like we did, you need to make sure you have all the extension cables and adapter cables. Once we got everything up and running, it was perfect for a dual power supply for the price.

1 out of 5 eggsBad choice for general purpose use

Pros: built like a tank, short chassis length, weighs a ton

Cons: I selected this because it is for shallow depth racks (17.5") nd comes with rails for 4pt mounting BUT railes are for 25.5"++ racks so they are useless for the application the chassis was designed for. Short rails are OPTIONAL (read: more $$). Also the fan cables are extreely short and there are four of them, most general MB's don't have this many fan ports. Also the front panel connector is not useful out-of-the-box. I suppose there is another optional breakout cable too, but seriously...

Other Thoughts: Good chassis if you are already deaf (or want to be), like to spend lots of money on options, and only want to use the supermicro board it was designed to work with (in which case you are probably better off buying a system not a chassis). This is a bad choice if you are looking for a small footprint general purpose rack chassis.

4 out of 5 eggsNice case - LOUD fans

Pros: Great construction
Easy installation
Excellent User Manual

Cons: LOUD LOUD LOUD fans sound like an F-16 fighter jet taking off. Replacing with Evercool 40mm fans. Will take a little ingenuity to get them to fit, but no big deal. Can't be in same room for more than a few minutes without earplugs. (no joke)

Other Thoughts: Rails are nice but cant use them. Won't fit in my 26" deep wallmount rack. Wish they were adjustable.

Order the breakout cable (CBL-0084L) for front panel connections if you are using an AMD MB. Stock cable has solid 16 pin connector designed for Intel Xeon boards.

5 out of 5 eggsNice server case for a RAID 1 +1

Pros: Excellent case as you would expect from Supermicro. Well-made and well-ventilated. The front panel header combined with a Supermicro motherboard makes that job take seconds. I love their rack rails, clip to the rack, set the server on and you're done; I wish all rack rails were made to install so easily.

Cons: None that weren't my fault. :) See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Make sure your motherboard is not MicroATX, or get longer fan power cables. I used it with a Supermicro MicroATX motherboard (MBD-X9SCM-O) and the power cables to the fans were too short. I had to order longer cables (CBL-0088L).
