5 out of 5 eggsGotta love the price

Pros: Versatile and economical 2U chassis means I can build for cheap when I don't need a backplane. Rails included.

Cons: This chassis will flex especially if you removed the stiffener plate for MB clearance. Just keep it flat so you don't delaminate your motherboard.

Other Thoughts: You will need extender cables for the fans. You may need extenders for the PS cables but usually not. Just check the location of the connectors. The 8 pin power is only about 6" long but the 24 and 4 pin power are longer and will reach most MOBOs.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case!

Pros: - excellent airflow
- solid construction
- no sharp edges
- comes with rails
- decent PSU

Cons: - no SATA power-connectors (there are several molex connectors of varying lengths which easily reach the drive bays)
- heavy (not really a con)

Other Thoughts: As others have indicated, the mobo power cable(s) may not be long enough for some motherboards. I purchased an extension cable with the case, but ended up not needing it.

Pros: Great airflow. very well built. hot swap fans. Lots of drive space.

Cons: noisy...but it's a server case...what do you expect? The case buttons/led indicator cables are barely long enough. I even have a supermicro server board in the case so I wouldn't expect the cables to be that tight.

Other Thoughts: case cables could be a little short depending on what board you use as others have said. But the pros greatly outweigh the cons.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: I've been building servers for many years. Supermicro makes top notch cases. It holds six HDD's, a floppy, a slim CD/DVD, and a regular 5.25" drive. Construction is rock solid. No sharp edges. Very well thought out. Best thing is that all the slots are low profile. No goofy riser cards. Of course, you can't use full-height cards.

Cons: Only complaint I have is that the 8-pin connector on the power supply is too short. You have to buy an extension. Search for EPS8EXT. This is a MUST have item. Shipping cost is also a bit high.

5 out of 5 eggsDetails

Coming Soon!

Pros: Other details - the case comes with rails (another bonus!) but the rails don't lock in the extended position :(

Cons: The EPS connector is the shortest - just get a couple extension cables if you think that there may be a problem with your build (the cables are relatively cheap)

Other Thoughts: I have one of these cases with a Tyan S2865 board in it and one with a Tyan S2912 board - both of these work without extension cables, albeit a little tight on the EPS cable

I can't stress enough having some build experience before using one of these cases - if I had tried building on one of these without some experience I think that it could be disastrous - there are motherboard support trays in these cases that would likely need to be removed for builds other than with supermicro boards (i.e. mine) and the standoff mounts will definitely touch the solder points on the bottom of your board if you don't remove them - finally be sure to insulate the bottom of the case with a thin sheet of plastic or glass tape or something - this is a virtual requirement on 1U and 2U cases

5 out of 5 eggsNice Case

Pros: Well - I know that supermicro is good - but this case is really a deal - has three mobo power connectors (24, 4 and EPS) but they are on the short side. It worked well with my Tyan S2912E board and with a Tyan S2865 - with a few modifications to the mounting post layout and support frame. Had to pop some of the post mounts off using the mounting nuts, but that was very easy to do - just thread the nut down, grab it with some visegrips and gently wiggle it one way and then the other and tighten/loosen it a little while doing that. I also covered the bottom of the case with glass tape to prevent the bottom of the board contacting the metal case anywhere. Comes with a slim CD/DVD IDE adaptor (power and IDE - nice 10dol bonus)

The build quality and features are awesome - really good deal for someone looking for a high quality 2U case as long as they are comfortable doing some tweaking to get the fit perfect.

Cons: The power cables are short for a generic mobo - rack optimized server boards are what this is built for - also, the front panel header breakout cable is a tad short, but not by much (it worked on both of my builds, but just barely) - and no front panel USB connector.

Other Thoughts: I was debating between this one and the slightly more expensive one that has 3.5" hotswap trays built in - but I was planning to mount 2.5" disks in this - so I actually made my own adapters and I have 14 2.5" disks mounted in the same space as the 6 3.5" disks would have mounted
