1 out of 5 eggsproprietary junk

Pros: It looks nice

Cons: Where to begin. This is without a doubt the worst server pedestal case I have ever owned. A few of the issues:

The backplane/hard drive cage doesn't have a fan. Not only that, there isnt a way to put a fan on it. Want to cook your hard drives? Choose this case!

No rear exhaust fan. There is a slot for one, so I thought, no big deal, I will throw a 120mm fan on there myself. Nope! The rear fan slot is designed for a proprietary fan holder from supermicro. The screw holes are impossible to use without the holder. Good luck finding one.

Power supply died? No big deal, throw a new one in. Nope! The rear hole where you mount the power supply is bigger than normal. The supermicro branded PSU screws onto the case actually inside the case. So no throwing a standard ATX PSU in there.

Want to throw some 15k drives in there? Bad Idea! Not only is there no HD fan, but the whole case rattles so bad that I thought the thing was going to fall apart.

Want to use a non supermicro motherboard in the case? Well that is a problem as well. The proprietary front panel connector doesnt work on other motherboards. But wait! They were nice enough to include an adapter that adapts the front panel connections to a standard cable configuration. Yeah except the adapter cable is 6 inches long, like 12 inches too short to reach the pins on basically every motherboard ever.

Other Thoughts: Seriously this thing is garbage. The steel is flimsy, the front door falls off if you look at it wrong, the included setup manual is a joke. The list just goes on and on.

Normally I like Supermicro products. I have a bunch of their motherboards and a bunch of their rackmount cases, but this thing is just awful.

4 out of 5 eggsEnough For US

Pros: Small Enough, Big enough, Hot swap bays, airflow, over all design

Cons: No USB 3.0 on the front panel only reason I took an egg from it, otherwise most can over look that, no rear exhaust fan included.

Other Thoughts: USB 3.0 on Front panel and ship it with a rear Exhaust fan!

5 out of 5 eggsNice case for a server or workstation.

Pros: This is a nicely built chassis for use as a file server or larger workstation. Has chassis intrusion switch. Hot swap bays are easy to operate. Plenty of space for drives, cards, etc.... It is deep. Supermicro builds nice solid cases. PS is big enough for what I need.

Cons: No SATA cables included. Figured they might since it includes an SATA/SAS backplane for the hot swap drives. No rear fan included, it is optional. Not a deal breaker.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy another one if needed. Professional looking chassis. Not clear with super bright LED's or Neons. Exactly what I was looking for.
