Apex’s MW-100 case is a great choice for instances where you don’t have a lot of space for a system. It would work well in kiosks or as a video wall controller cabinet. You could also use it to control information signs in a hotel or airport. Its small size would also make it a good choice for a HTPC.

There's an external 5.25" drive bay and an internal 2.5" drive bay. The front panel also has two audio jacks and two USB ports. The 60W external power-supply delivers enough power for your ITX system needs. Once everything is installed put the lid back on and you’re good to go.

  • newegg Stylish With the Sleek Mirror front and piano-finished metal panels, the APEX MW-100 looks no more just a bulk of steel and plastic. The decent and elegant appearance makes computer systems built with the APEX MD-100 carter to those particular tastes.
  • newegg 60W External PSU The APEX MW-100 is equipped with an external 60W power supply unit to deliver enough power for your Atom platform system without taking up much of the chassis space.
  • newegg Convenient Front I/O Panel The APEX MW-100 features a convenient front I/O panel for easy access to two USB 2.0 and two audio ports.

4 out of 5 eggsMW-100

Pros: -Lots of room for 40mm fans. Can easily put 10 lol
-Small foot print.
-60W external power supply just like laptops. No fan noise.

Cons: -Glossy finish
I never thought about how easy it would be to scratch the surface of this case. Also finger prints really show up on the front panel.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: I wanted to build HTPC for our new flat TV and could not decide to choice size of case. I went for it and found very happy with this product. I surprised to see this power supply works well. It is depended on what system you plan to make. My motherboard (BIOSTAR A68I-350 Deluxe AMD) does the job for HTPC with this case. I would buy it again.

Cons: Uh, front outside panel has MIRROR plastic! I don't like it and could not find another case that doesn't have mirror. I just painted black on the mirror plastic!

5 out of 5 eggsHD little case.

Pros: Neat little ITX case… Running a Zotac D2700-ITX. I found a tray-less DVD-R to use with it, so I stand it on its side. I just needed to add 4 feet, for clearance of the (bottom) side venting holes. Has great air circulation. It runs really cool with the Atom CPU. But, if you plan using a plug-in CPU ITX, think seriously about the fan clearance, not to mention the Power requirements, as the PS is only 60 watts…
Great mounting areas for the 2.5 in HD and the Mini (laptop) optical drive. And Right-angle SATA cable helped for the HD connection. The doors are both push-to-open and are a lot beefier than my old MW107 case.

Cons: The mirror chrome surfaces on the doors are mostly annoying. A finger print magnet and light reflector. Might be ok if you like sparkly things… For me, 2 faux Carbon fiber cover strips would have saved me the trip to the auto store.. Now if they would just make a case this size, with a 300 watt power supply… So I could build up quad core I7, and get rid of the fat tower I use for work…

4 out of 5 eggsNice small HTPC case

Pros: Small
Looks nice--fingerprints aren't as much of a problem as I thought they would be
With the right fan, it can be cooled reasonably well without too much noise

Cons: It can be REALLY tough to get a hard disk in. One of the cables (power, I think) just barely reaches.
The tiny, noisy fan got REALLY noisy after a few months. I replaced it with a fan of the same size that I bought at a local computer supply store, and that one has been fine so far.
Can't fit a PCI express card in it (that's the price you pay for having a small case, although some allow for a riser card)
Ventilation is limited (only relatively small ports on the sides)

Other Thoughts: I put a fanless AMD E-350 APU in this, and with the AMD driver's hardware video acceleration capabilities and network-based storage, it's a very capable and quite good-looking HTPC. The mini-ITX motherboards that take a standard Intel CPU would be a non-starter in this case, since there wouldn't be enough room for a standard cooler, and the PSU wouldn't have any hope of powering it reliably (unless it's one of the few 35W ones). I've seen at least one Atom-based mini-ITX board that didn't look like it would fit, either. Measure everything before you buy.

5 out of 5 eggsBrilliant!!

Pros: Outstanding little case! The design is such that it only requires 1 or 2 screws to completely access everything. Cooling is good as the sides are open and depending on your processor fan a down and out cooling approach works out fine here. The BIG deal is the look, classy clean look. The front doors are flimsy feeling but they hold up fine and do the job perfectly. EVEN THOUGH ITS NOT IN THE PICTURES MINE CAME WITH THE MINI SATA ADAPTER FOR LAPTOP DVD DRIVES!!

Cons: Mine came with a very annoying little fan that I didn't install because it would have no effect on cooling only increase noise pollution, i used a quiet version of the same size (40mm i think) fan as a replacement I would recommend purchasing and installing one to cool the PSU circuit! The life you save may be your own!

5 out of 5 eggsAPEX MW series Mini ITX

Pros: Smallest useful Mini ITX case with slim DVD. Although plastic the front panel doors are much more sturdy than they appear. This is not so with the MW107 who's doors curve around the side and are easily broken

Cons: MW100 is easily marked up due to hi gloss finish.

Other Thoughts: I saw another review complaining that HTPC cases need not have a DVD anymore. My application in a boat which rarely gives me the luxury on being able to stream video from the internet so I needed the DVD slot. The MW107 has a better matte finish, but I did not like the bottom mounting bracket for my application. Newegg carried another variant of this case which had both the matte finish and no mounting bracket, but it was under a different name and labeled A1000. I can not find this one anymore. I would also like to see a version of this case without a power supply bundled. The 60W supply is only good enough if you are using an Atom, Via C-series or the new AMD 350APU, and is not a good solution for battery powered applications.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Case!

Pros: Could not be any smaller - fits a mini-itx case perfectly with absolutely zero wasted space!

Cons: nothing so far

Other Thoughts: Running with a SuperMicro D510 combo (X7SPA-HF w/Dual NIC + IPMI), 4GB DDR2, Kingston 16GB SSD. Makes a perfect little server with no moving parts - which means DEAD SILENCE.

Passive cooling on the Atom has the processor idling around 62C - which is perfectly acceptable for Atom processors.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Everything fit nice and snug, great finish, light weight, can attach it to side of desk with industrial velcro.

Cons: the thing is silent ... because... lol it WON'T power up, pwr supply it comes with is very under powered need to find alternative to get it to work. I think feedback needs to be given to APEX and newegg before they sell this product to another person!

Other Thoughts: Newegg shipping has failed again, 3 day shipping always seems to turn into 6-7 day shipping. Don't pay for "process my order faster" because it has no effect if it is after 12 noon PST. It will still go out the next day and that is when the shipping clock starts. :) I have bought a tonne of stuff from newegg and have always selected that option but the tech finally confirmed that with me when I called looking for packages. LOL, i guess its my bad, but never again.

5 out of 5 eggsQuite nice

Pros: Received a few days ago. Very nice, shiny, and compact. Still waiting on motherboard for it, but looks fantastic. Junked the PSU, since 60w is barely enough to run the board. And even that part came out without resistance.

Cons: It is VERY well polished, so any fingerprints or smudges show. Also lacks a slimline sata cable for slim ODDs.

Other Thoughts: Aside from needing another cable, very excellent machine. Again, VERY small and in high quality.

4 out of 5 eggsSmall and clean.

Pros: SO small.

Cons: No cut out of any kind for the pci/pci-e slot on a mini-itx board.

Other Thoughts: I use this in my truck with a Jetway Atom 230. Fits anywhere, and runs on a tiny inverter with ease.
