The Smilodon case from Raidmax makes assembling a system easier than ever before. It has a modular, tool-less design that makes the initial build and future upgrades easy. Both side panels latch into place for easy access. For the ultimate in convenience the right side panel has the motherboard tray completed with backplate attached. This lets you install the mobo and all your cards, then lock it into the case as a single unit.

Drive installation couldn’t be easier. The external bays all use Clicklock technology, just slide the drive into the bay and lock it into place. The hard drive rack is removable for easy installations and upgrades. All of the necessary drive rails come in a slide out box so you don’t lose them.

Once you have everything assembled you need to make sure it stays cool. Raidmax has loaded the case with plenty of fans. A 120mm fan is mounted on the front of the case to draw cool air in and blow it across the hard drives. Side and rear mounted 80mm fans keep the air moving over all critical components. There is also an 80mm fan with blue LEDs that mounts to a support brace that holds your expansion cards steady and blows cool outside air over them.

  • newegg Convenient Installation The Raidmax Smilodon features a fully removable motherboard tray for easy system upgrade without removing your PCIe/AGP/PCI cards. Plus the tool-free design ensures quick assembly of other devices, saving your precious time.
  • newegg Transparent Side Panel Window The Raidmax Smilodon’s fantastic transparent side panel window provides a direct view of the inner system. The 80mm fan’s blue LEDs add stylishness and eye-catching fun.
  • newegg Superior Expandability with 10 Drive Bays Featuring four 5.25" external drive bays, and six 3.5” drive bays (two external and four internal), the Raidmax Smilodon provides superior expandability.
  • newegg Efficient Ventilation The Raidmax Smilodon features one 120mm front intake fan, three 80mm fans and side vents for efficient ventilation and effective system cooling.
  • newegg Video Card Cooler and Stabilizer The side video card stabilizer with an 80mm fan cools your video card and prevents it from moving for enhanced system stability.
  • newegg Convenient Front I/O Panel The Raidmax Smilodon features a convenient front I/O panel for easy access to two USB 2.0 and two audio ports.

3 out of 5 eggsIt was alright at first.

Pros: Its a decent case nice airflow for a mid-tower.

Cons: Well there is not enough room to work with not as nice airflow as a full atx ALSO after 6 months after opening the panels a few times they broke ... And it has the power supply mounted on the top .

Other Thoughts: Its a good case but you can buy a nice full ATX with better airflow and much more roomy case .

4 out of 5 eggsGood Price, Get what you pay for,

Pros: Looks great. Blue LEDS on front door is cool.

Cons: The side arm with the "dirk tooth" barely fits an EVGA 660. buyers beware. Pispoor cable management(i.e. there is NONE). Case came in one day and box was 100% perfect condition. Open it up the side LED fan wires were already detached. As not having a soldering kit atm i had to purchase another fan.

3 out of 5 eggsRaidmax Smilodon

Pros: Looks good; Is big enough to fit anything and everything

Cons: Magnet on front cover stopped working after a while. Dust screen is very hard to clean. Case is LOUD and no way to adjust fan speed even if idle.

Other Thoughts: PSU is on top...if you fill more than 3 of the HDD or disc drive bays the air flow is reduced to only being pulled in from the side.
If you haven't bought a case with LEDs before I would suggest seeing how bothersome they really can be, especially in the dark

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Doesn't get too hot
Solid Construction

Cons: Long Term use loud
front face fell off
see bottom for details

Other Thoughts: Good case overall. Air flow is good. The construction overall is good. The front panel fell off on mine. However, that was my fault the way I was carrying it, so I can't dock it for that. The fans, over time started getting loud. If you have a large video card, take note of that before you put in your hardware. I had to re-run wires because the case wouldn't close correctly. Annoyance at first, but a non-issue once I got it together.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Nice

Pros: This case is pretty nice. Two 90mm side fans. A 120mm fan in front and back. A intake fan slot near the HD cage. Nice blue lights everywhere. Heavy and sturdy. Opens up completely! Very nice when building to be able to open the whole case up and mount the Mobo and CPU, etc.

Cons: One of the plastic silver pieces that holds the plexiglass on was broken but I was able to repair it.

Other Thoughts: I'm not a big fan of doors on the front of my cases either, It has to stay partially open all of the time anyhow to fit my usb devices, etc.

i5 3570k Idles @ around 30c @ 4.2 GHz stock voltage w/ a Zalman CNPS9500A-LED 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler. System temp is about 32c @ idle.

3 out of 5 eggsIts just OK for a modern case

Pros: It has worked for a long time without failure - so from that perspective, its not too bad.
Appearance is just average.
Workmanship is again, about average. Nothing special but no terrible gaps in the fit/finish.
Side fan with age starts to vibrate/rattle.
Keeping inside clean is a significant effort.
Likes to be on a shelft for door to swing open.

Cons: For a modern case, its just not up to speed.
A dust collector.
Cable routing is poor.
Fans are substandard.
Airflow is poor compared to most modern designed.
Build is consistant with 90's style builds.
No USB3, pretty much a standard requirement now.

Other Thoughts: It does the job for a case on the cheap side. It is not for a mod builder. It doesn't appear that is has been redesigned w/improvements since it came out years ago.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Case

Pros: The things this case has going for it are a 500w powersupply, a ton of fans, and cool LED's, and it just plain looks cool.

Cons: The case that I got apparently had a grounding with the power supply causing the power to shut off a few seconds after starting. After switching to a different case the computer turned on just fine.

Other Thoughts: If the case does what it is supposed to and actually allows the computer to turn on it would be amazing if you have the spare room for it. Otherwise if you end up with the problem that I got you will pay the cost of the whole case for only a 500w power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic, Long Life Case!

Pros: I have had 2 of these cases now for 4 years and the only trouble I have had is needing to replace one of 80mm fans...not too shabby afater 4 years of heavy usage! The case is extremely durable and has gone through many hardware component upgrades over the course of time. For the price, you won't beat this case.

Cons: Not really a con, but through the course of several upgrades, I am maxing out on space with the larger graphic cards/heat sinks, but this case has taken me a very long way.

5 out of 5 eggs6 Years Later... Great Case

Pros: Screwless: Except for the motherboard, you don't have to use a tool remove components.
Flip down sides: Install your components with ease.

Cons: I guess that the door has to be opened to power on, or use USB.

Other Thoughts: Love this case. I've been using it for almost 6 years, and I am extremely satisfied with it!
