The Smilodon case from Raidmax makes assembling a system easier than ever before. It has a modular, tool-less design that makes the initial build and future upgrades easy. Both side panels latch into place for easy access. For the ultimate in convenience the right side panel has the motherboard tray completed with backplate attached. This lets you install the mobo and all your cards, then lock it into the case as a single unit.

Drive installation couldn’t be easier. The external bays all use Clicklock technology, just slide the drive into the bay and lock it into place. The hard drive rack is removable for easy installations and upgrades. All of the necessary drive rails come in a slide out box so you don’t lose them.

Once you have everything assembled you need to make sure it stays cool. Raidmax has loaded the case with plenty of fans. A 120mm fan is mounted on the front of the case to draw cool air in and blow it across the hard drives. Side and rear mounted 80mm fans keep the air moving over all critical components. There is also an 80mm fan with green LEDs that mounts to a support brace that holds your expansion cards steady and blows cool outside air over them.

  • newegg Convenient Installation The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme Black features a fully removable motherboard tray for easy system upgrade without removing your PCIe/AGP/PCI cards. Plus the tool-free design ensures quick assembly of other devices, saving your precious time.
  • newegg Transparent Side Panel Window The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme Black’s fantastic transparent side panel window provides a direct view of the inner system. The 80mm fan’s green LEDs add stylishness and eye-catching fun.
  • newegg Superior Expandability with 10 Drive Bays Featuring four 5.25" external drive bays, and six 3.5” drive bays (two external and four internal), the Raidmax Smilodon Extreme Black provides superior expandability.
  • newegg Efficient Ventilation The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme Black features one 120mm front intake fan, three 80mm fans and side vents for efficient ventilation and effective system cooling.
  • newegg Video Card Cooler and Stabilizer The side video card stabilizer with an 80mm fan cools your video card and prevents it from moving for enhanced system stability.
  • newegg Convenient Front I/O Panel The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme Black features a convenient front I/O panel for easy access to two USB 2.0 and two audio ports.

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing case!

Pros: Alright so this is a charm and was absolutely perfect for my first pc build.

Cons: the only reason this is not 5 eggs is because it was a little confusing to get together, and the bolt on the top hinge of the front panel disappeared. don't know when but it was definitely there my first 3 weeks with it

3 out of 5 eggsOwned 5+ years

Pros: One of my first gaming oriented cases. You get what you pay for.
Lots of fans
Nice color scheme
Does the job

Cons: Door sticks
Handle sticks
Cord for side fan on the metal bar gets stuck in the closing door
Hard drives way to close for largish cards.

Airflow is actually atrocious with any decent video card. Had to downclock the card, from base, because the case kept it too hot.

Other Thoughts: It was strong enough, but hard to move so it made you be more careful. Half decent case, but not anything spectacular.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: I really liked the design of this case, fold down side panels make installing or removing the motherboard and other components a breeze.

Cons: -No cable management
-Cheap fans (Both things I assumed at this price point.)

The green Side fan started out quiet, but after about a month became very noisy. I unplugged it today as its become unbearably noisy. So I no longer have the visually appealing green glow on the side glass or a side fan.

3 out of 5 eggsBecoming a Classic

Pros: Good case back in 2008 when I bought mine. Very heavy gauge steel compared to today's cases. Great for people who want an OEM lighted case.

Cons: Airflow is not as good as comparably priced newer cases.. Compared to recently designed cases the fans are small. The case is not water cooled friendly.

Other Thoughts: Bought in 2008. Son inherited. Been sitting in loft in shop until now for the last couple of years. Going to do a low budget build for a friend of my son. Today's lower TDP CPU's and GPU's make the poor airflow less of a concern than back in the GTX 480 era!

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful product

Pros: Ok so this is my first review I will say this I love this case I couldn't ask for anything better. Ease of installation of my components was great. There are a few cons but just minor things. There is that side panel card fan which is totally useful keeps your cards in place, however you don't like it you can remove it. I would recommend this as a great place to start for a first time build lots of room for everything. as I buy the rest of my parts I will look in to water cooling option until then air flow is great.

Cons: Here are a few things I found it wasn't a deal breaker but I have not dealt with this type of tool less design before. the miniature drive rails don't bolt on you actually have to press them in the existing holes for the HDD, not really a deal breaker as I said it was just something I had never encountered. The front fan wiring was a little short but I made due with what I had it works that all I could ask for. the mechanism for the side panels could have used a lock, if you pull up as you open it, be careful as you need to realign the tabs for it to go back into place, just a little different for me.

I was however disappointed in paying for a case like this to have a scratch on the inside of the plexiglass right above my led fan

2 out of 5 eggsNice looking case, bad cable managament

Pros: - I like the LED lights.
- I like how I'm able to see inside of my case without needing a separate light.
- I like the fans that it came with.

Cons: - I can't stress this enough, but I really think this case has EXTREMELY poor cable management. It's so frustrating, knowing that there's no where to put your cables. They're all just bunched up in sections of the case.
- This makes it so that there's bad airflow overall.
- The design is a little strange - with the extra part in front of the case. It's just hanging there. I would've been perfectly fine if it wasn't there.
- Again the design of the case - The side panel with the transparency and fans are just so annoying. The way it opens up is such a pain. I can't get my hands in whenever I want to disconnect things to try to clean my computer out or move my cables out of the way. Poor accessibility.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I don't think this is a good case and I don't think people should buy it. I wouldn't recommend it. It's partially my fault though because I didn't do enough research. I should've searched for other cases that included better airflow and cable management. Now I know a ton more about computers overall because it's been over 2 years since I built my computer.

Also if you're thinking of getting it anyway, cable management actually makes an impact on your computer so please think again.

4 out of 5 eggspower supply issue

Pros: * love the looks. lights and space and number of fans.
* the black case and green light display are nice.
* love the fold out side for the motherboard mounting and ease of access to everything.

Cons: * the powersupply that comes with it. The cables are too short especially the ones that connect to the mother board as they should still connect with the cover full extended. Also two days ago the power supply shorted out and sent sparks flying out the back less than six months after i bought the unit. i would highly recommend getting and installing a better power supply. The life span on this one is too short.

Other Thoughts: i would still buy this case again but without the power supply that comes with it,and purchase a better grade power supply.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer beware...

Pros: -Looks nice and sturdy..
- Price was about right.
- easy access to install the mother board.
- nice lights on the case..

Cons: I blame myself. I Should have done more research before making the purchase.. Let me start by saying that i had to gut almost the entire case to fit my components.

- will not fit the GTX980 unless you remove the bottom hard drive bays. card is huge!
- will not fit my rosewill aiolos cpu cooler unless i remove the side clear fan. case wont shut.
- i also had to remove the side shut bar because it doesnt fit the long, tall video card.
- why no cable management..?
- PSU at the top???
- you have to open the front of the case to have access to the power button? You serious??!!! I had to rearrange my setup just so i can turn the PC on!
- no USB3 front ports?? Wow!!!

so in the end i had to remove almost everything of the case that made it cool. I would return it but i need my PC for work.. :(
Thanks for newegg fast shipping. I was only down for day...

Other Thoughts: case is design for a micro atx setup with a normal video card...
