Don't let the fangs on the front scare you; the Smilodon is a monster under your control. Its innovative design features speed assembly and get you back on the hunt in no time. Once you're up and running, the plethora of fans will keep your system cool even in the hottest of firefights.

System setup is eased by having the mobo tray attached to the right side panel. Undo the locking screws and remove the side panels and you have a totally open chassis. Install the mobo and expansion cards to the side panel along with the CPU and memory then all you have to do is put it back in place as a unit. But first install all your drives in the tool-less racks. When both sections are assembled all you have to do is connect the wiring.

There are fans everywhere to keep your components cool. A 120mm fan is mounted on the back panel for main ventilation. The side panel has an 80mm fan to boost CPU cooling. There is a retaining bar designed to help hold your video cards in place, and that too has an 80mm fan vented to the outside.

  • newegg Convenient Installation The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme ATX-612WEBP features a fully removable motherboard tray for easy system upgrade without removing your PCIe/AGP/PCI cards. Plus the tool-free design ensures quick assembly of other devices, saving your precious time.
  • newegg Transparent Side Panel Window The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme ATX-612WEBP's fantastic transparent side panel window provides a direct view of the inner system. The 80mm side fan's green LEDs add stylishness and eye-catching fun.

  • newegg Video Card Cooler and Stabilizer The side video card stabilizer with an 80mm fan cools your video card and prevents it from moving for enhanced system stability.
  • newegg Built-in 500W PSU The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme ATX-612WEBP is equipped with a powerful 500W power supply unit that delivers strong power to all system components and provides a high level of system reliability.

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice

Pros: I like the fact this case has many fans. I wont worry so much about my APU heating up. I like the color of the case, and also the colors of the lights. I havent owned very long but im happy i bought this case. (even if the PSU went out id still be happy i bought this case.)

Fans also seemd to be made of good quality. Some people have complained but i see no need to compalin. Lots off fans to keep the CPU running cool is always a +

Cons: There are only 2 cons i found with this case.

1. The wiring for the lights, start button ECT. Where not color coded the way it said in the book. The "blue" was purple and 2 other wires were different from what in the book. No biggy, alsong as you read the motherboard insructions its fine because they are clearly marked with white lettering.

2. I though the front latched closed somehow but it does not. It seems like there is a small set of low powered magnets that keeps it from swinging freely. This is a little annoying since the case is a bit on the bigger side, I am afraid i will accidently rip the front off when trying to move it. (if you never move your pc then this is absolutely no big deal)

Other Thoughts: Well constructed. Well priced with the PSU. I really love this case, makes me love my pc even more haha

5 out of 5 eggs12/4/11

Pros: I have owned this for over 3 years now. I have really liked the case but i wouldnt put to much hard ware in it. I noticed with 2 gpus it just got downright to dang hot. I used a q6600 that was overclocked from a 2.4 to a 3.2 and it kept it a little on the warm side. I did not use a stock cooler.

Cons: Fans suck that come with it so replace them.

Other Thoughts: When i got it, It came with a Power Supply. I gave it to a friend and bought another. To this day it is still running his hardware but it is all low end components.

3 out of 5 eggsCase is fine, PSU DOA

Pros: Easy to install motherboard and other components, some nice screw-free installation methods, enough room for an average number of components, fairly quiet even with all case fans going.

Cons: PSU was DOA. I can't be buggered to take everything out, ship it back and wait the few weeks it would take to RMA the whole thing, so I'll eat it on the PSU. The PSU was going to be used for my older build anyway, continuing use of my Antec 750 in this case.

The case, without the PSU, is not worth what I paid for it. Would have been worth it if I didn't have to buy another PSU now.

Other Thoughts: It is dated, but hey, it's a fine functioning case, and if you shove your computer under the desk anyway, like me, you don't have to look at it that often, and even when you do, it isn't really offensive in the aesthetics department.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We are sorry to hear that the PSU that came with the case didn't not work out well for you.
We would like to hear from you.
If you like to process a RMA for replacement, please send a email to for faster respond/service.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Case

Pros: Plenty of fans
Both sides of the case open to lay flat and make for very easy access to the motherboard.

Cons: The front door gets in the way at times
500W Power supply it comes with has worked just fine for me but now that I am looking at upgrading other components I need a new PSU to handle the increased power demand.

Other Thoughts: The front door is kind of a pain in the neck but the ability to open both side of the case and making it really easy to access the mother board makes up for the front door. You might be able to cut the hinges on the door and remove it but I have yet to try that. It hasn't really bee that big of a problem.

5 out of 5 eggsEfficient & Appealing

Pros: It's a good looking tower, moderately spacious and convenient. It's got some nice green LEDs and a a see-through side panel that helps you keep track of dust accumulation and perhaps allows you to show off your parts! No sexu4l heat here I promise, it's actually well vented.

Cons: This is not enough to knock off and egg, but for a tower that says "RAIDMAX Gaming Development", the power supply that 500W power supply that comes with it is very cheap! I mean most towers won't be provided one by default, so I just suggest removing it and decreasing the price even more. Otherwise it's already very good value!

Other Thoughts: As I said, they just shouldn't provide a power supply with it and lower the price of it.

4 out of 5 eggs3 yrs old and even the fans are still working

Pros: Knocked off an egg due to wiring routing options that I did not consider when I bought it.

Didn't even skin a knuckle putting the system together.

Cons: Going to have to mod the case to add water cooling.
Side fans could use a mesh or filter.

Other Thoughts: CPU = Intel Core – i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8 GHZ
MB = ASUS P7P55D 1156 Intel P55 ATX
HD = Western Digital Caviar Green WD5000CSRTL
RAM = G.Skill Ripjaw Series 8 GB 4 X 2 GB F3-10666CL9D-4GBRL
Video card = Failing –ASUS Radeon HD 5670 after 3 years
Being replaced by ASUS GT630-2GD3 GeForce GT 630
CD / DVD drive = Sony Optiarc AD-7240S-0B
Case and PSU = RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX Case with 500W Power Supply

5 out of 5 eggsSmilodon case from Raidmax

Pros: -Came pre-assembled.
-Has a side window that gives a decent view of your components.
-Bought on sale with 500 watt P.S.
-Both side panels fold down, allowing easy access to the M.B, Drives, ect.
-Almost completely tool-less. Everything either clicks or locks into place i.e; HDD, dvd/cd burner
-Despite other reviews, the power supply has not failed and runs a Sabertooth 990FX R.2.0, 8GB of DDR3, and GTX 660 video card. So far so good.

Cons: None that I know of. The case arrived in a timely manner and was in a sealed box. No damage and all hardware and instructions were in the package.

Also, it does not make me breakfast or dinner, lol.

Other Thoughts: This is approximately my 20th or so DIY computer. I have been building computers for both fun and for my friends and family for about 15 years.

For a mid-tower case, this has a lot of room. There is room for a ATX MB and a full size graphics card. While there are not as many drive bays as other cases, this one has enough for my needs. It came sealed from the factory and was in working condition out of the box. All that was needed was to open the box and take it out.

The case comes fully assembled and seems very sturdy. The only weak point I can possibly conceive of is, some freak accident where the front door (the front of the case) opens and gets caught and breaks. In all honesty I don't foresee that happening.

Long story short, if you're looking for a budget case that looks good and has room for everything besides a water cooler, give this a try.

P.S I didn't mention it has lighted fans preinstalled

1 out of 5 eggsNice case but faulty power supply

Pros: The case is very nice, lots of convenient features and well made.

Cons: I would prefer the PSU location to be on the bottom of the case but it is not a big deal to me.

However, the power supply is garbage. After building a computer from the ground up, I found out the PSU was faulty. After playing games for a couple of minutes, it would completely lockup. Running windows was fine but anything under load would lockup.

I know it was the PSU because after hours of troubleshooting I swapped PSUs and the problem went away. (I swapped out video cards, cpu and ram before getting to the PSU). It is not worth my time to disassemble everything just to RMA a loud cheaply made PSU. Now I'm stuck with an oversized wired paperweight.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this case, plan on upgrading the PSU because it is garbage. The PSU is also VERY loud (if it works).

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We're sorry to hear that the PSU for this case did not work well for you.
It should still be under warranty.
Please email, we would like to hear from you.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: Great case for the price, the included fans kept the case very cool although I upgraded mine. The case itself came in pristine condition without a single scratch anywhere I could find, all led's and fans working great. Its a very heavy case. I was surprised at the weight of the case alone which isn't a complaint at all. Absolutely love the panels that you can either fold down or just remove old school. The mobo side panel is fantastic if your changing out parts frequently.

Cons: Comes with plastic feet on it, my desk is hardwood and it vibrates ever so slightly. Going to be fixed with a 2$ set of rubber feet so not worth taking even 1 egg off for.

Other Thoughts: I'll be buying the other color scheme for a friends build I'm doing. The cases are great quality for the price.
