Don't let the fangs on the front scare you; the Smilodon is a monster under your control. Its innovative design features speed assembly and get you back on the hunt in no time. Once you're up and running, the plethora of fans will keep your system cool even in the hottest of firefights.

System setup is eased by having the mobo tray attached to the right side panel. Undo the locking screws and remove the side panels and you have a totally open chassis. Install the mobo and expansion cards to the side panel along with the CPU and memory then all you have to do is put it back in place as a unit. But first install all your drives in the tool-less racks. When both sections are assembled all you have to do is connect the wiring.

There are fans everywhere to keep your components cool. A 120mm fan is mounted on the back panel for main ventilation. The side panel has an 80mm fan to boost CPU cooling. There is a retaining bar designed to help hold your video cards in place, and that too has an 80mm fan vented to the outside.

  • newegg Convenient Installation The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme ATX-612WEBP features a fully removable motherboard tray for easy system upgrade without removing your PCIe/AGP/PCI cards. Plus the tool-free design ensures quick assembly of other devices, saving your precious time.
  • newegg Transparent Side Panel Window The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme ATX-612WEBP's fantastic transparent side panel window provides a direct view of the inner system. The 80mm side fan's green LEDs add stylishness and eye-catching fun.

  • newegg Video Card Cooler and Stabilizer The side video card stabilizer with an 80mm fan cools your video card and prevents it from moving for enhanced system stability.
  • newegg Built-in 500W PSU The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme ATX-612WEBP is equipped with a powerful 500W power supply unit that delivers strong power to all system components and provides a high level of system reliability.

1 out of 5 eggsPower Supply DOA

Pros: The case is really nice and I like it. Very spacious with plenty of room to upgrade in it and still keep the wires organized. Additional spot to easily click in and install another fan quickly and easily

Cons: The power supply it came with already installed in it was dead on arrival and never turned on even though it was supposedly approved and passed the test by the manufacturer. Output voltages when measure were 0 volts. Since it was a two in one deal with the power supply in the case installed the only way to get a new one would be to send the whole thing back and waiting two weeks for a new one to possibly come in. The soldering work on the power supply was very bad and had globs everywhere connecting different wires causing shorts in it.

Other Thoughts: Solid case I really like it so far just annoying the power supply came messed up. Newegg was helpful in getting a new one sent though to replace it all just at two more weeks of downtime.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,
We are sorry that the PSU you got didn't work out for you.

4 out of 5 eggsEnthusiast builder case!

Pros: Beautiful design Good for a solid midrange system and big enough to house enough drives to upgrade to a high end afterward.

I purchased this case bacause of the 3.5" slot (*i'm old school and need a floppy drive) and also for it's accessability i love the way both sides fold down to assemble/disassemble and maintenance. this was cost effective

Cons: I cannot really blame this on the case but here is a story:

After the stock heatsink from my CPU had a faulty clip i purchased an aftermarket heatsink...

i swear that thing looked smaller in the picture... i had to remove 2 fans and i cannot use a 4th stick of ram without moving this giant cooling unit.

cable management in this case is difficult to say the least and if you do fill it up with HDDs or even small black boxes, you will have to be creative with chords otherwise your airflow will not be efficient at all

Other Thoughts: If they designed this a little bit wider, with a second plate or something for cable management i'd probably purchase this case for my next computer build

5 out of 5 eggsThis is "COOL"

Pros: The Fans... So Many Fans. Just enogh space to move things around. Had not a single mishap.

Cons: with all the fans most of my power supply cords are used. easily fixed with a splitter for dual hard drive action.

Other Thoughts: I have this hooked up to my TV and when the guys come over to watch funny videos or a huge Civ 5 Hot seat, I feel like the "coolest kid in school" as it were.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap plastic for a Benjamin

Pros: --Great marketing, with the ability to move cheap plastic garbage for a hundred bucks and not get caught.

--Gold mine for the manufacturer?

--Makes little girls go "oh, ah" when they see the cheesy green lights?

Cons: -- Literally an 8 year old design that has never been updated.

-- Cheap, cheesy look and feel.

--Poor use of space.

--Sub-par materials and workmanship.

--Barely fits a full-sized GPU, and only then once you remove the ridiculous horizontal bar.

--Poor air circulation.

--Noisy because of small 120 and 80mm fans.

--No cable management.

--Poor drive management.

--Not tool-less

Other Thoughts: Do people not realize this case is flimsy plastic (entire front door assembly) and steel? You can literally flex the front door. I really don't see what people are buying these in these kinds of numbers when there are FAR FAR better cases built from real materials like aluminum and/or commercial-grade ABS and at a CHEAPER price! These things selling for a hundred bucks is absolute insanity!

As boggled as I am as to the reason this case "lucked out" with sales is because they're charging 3 times what it's worth and people must think there's value because of that? If you've ever owned a real case (Corsair, Lian Li, CoolerMaster), it would take you all of a second to realize what a mistake you've made. These cases are simply HORRIBLE. Do NOT waste your money.

1 out of 5 eggsdisappointing

Pros: 4 fans and led lighting

Cons: TERRIBLE cable management
No 2.5inch ssd mounts
power supply only has one 6-pin pci-e
front door magnet very weak, does not hold it closed

Other Thoughts: Included power supply may work for casual web browsing but I would not use any psu that came with a case. Had to take it out because it would not power my video card. I also may just buy a whole new case because this case is not pleasing to look inside. With no cable management a jerry rigged zip tie nest is the only option. please go find a case and psu that will look much cleaner. this may have been a decent case 5 years ago but you can get a much better one today.

4 out of 5 eggsNice case.

Pros: Very well Built, comes with a fair amount of hardware, looks great, stays nice and cool.

Cons: CABLE MANAGEMENT. If you decide on this case you should be proficient in the use of Zip-ties. You will be using a lot of them.

Other Thoughts: Would be great if it came with 750W power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case - Great Value!

Pros: I absolutely love this case. I've had it for almost a year and a half now and I couldn't be happier. It comes with a 500w power supply, has an extra parts container in the bottom, and 4 stock fans. I have been so pleased with the design of the case and how easy it is to open the case and lay the motherboard down flat for easy installation/troubleshooting. I have always kept the case with the fan side to the wall of my desk (and relatively close to give me more leg room) and it has kept my rig cool, even through the heat of the summer months.

Cons: The only problem I have had with this case is the power cord which just decided to not work one day, but I had another lying around and was able to easily replace it. I believe the power cord may be slightly too thin to carry the necessary amperage to run the PSU, but this is just a guess. Also, the magnet in the front which holds the door (the front panel covering the power button, disk drives, etc) must have lost a poorly attached magnet because it does not stay shut when I need to physically pick up my case and move it. However, this is really only a minor issue and could easily be fixed with a new magnet and some glue, but it just doesn't bother me enough to bother with it (I keep the front door slightly open at all times to access the power button).

The 500W PSU is at the low end of many minimum video card requirements.

Other Thoughts: This is seriously one of the best cases you can buy for the money, especially considering (nearly) anything comparable comes without a PSU, and is ~50% more expensive. This is a solid case, and if you're looking for great functionality and super easy access to the motherboard, this is the case for you. Other reviewers mentioned how the cables get caught on things (corners in particular) when opening the case, and this is true, but this is a direct result of how the cabling is laid out during the initial build, and not a result of poor case design. I too have had some cables snag on corners when opening my case, but if you're careful (as you should be with sensitive electrical components anyway..) you will be just fine. Although I had an issue with the power cord, it's really not something the OEM is at fault for, nor could it really be controlled for. The PSU is 500W which is the minimum for the new GTX970 series so this case can save you ~$100 on a new PSU. Seriously, pick up this case, you won't regret it!

4 out of 5 eggsIt's ok...for the price

Pros: It's a case. It comes with fans and a power supply.

Cons: The MOBO panel folds down for easy board installation--but you can't mount the heatsink on it until the side is closed. The power supply makes installation of the heatsink a little difficult--and the power supply itself sucks. Cables...everywhere...

Other Thoughts: It was a great case for when I built my last computer, and provided a great case to re-build a friend's old machine in for her to give to a friend who needed a computer (and didn't want to cut themselves on her old case). I'd suggest it to anyone who wants to save money...but...for the price: you can go a little more and have a better case and power supply.
