Mediocre Case
- Pros: Case looks nice - not too gaudy, but not boring either. My motherboard went in without any real difficulty. Side window and case fans do a decent job of illuminating the internal components. It has more bays than I'll probably ever use. Thumbscrews on the back are a good size. The clips that secure the 120mm rear case fan are secure yet easy to release. Front vent supports 120mm fan as well, which allows for good airflow throughout the case
- Cons: Overall, this case isn't particularly well built. I had difficulty installing my power supply because of certain poorly positioned tabs on the back panel. The cable to the front audio ports is stretched so tightly that it hangs 1/2" above the case bottom for its entire length. The front panel, which must be removed for drive installation or to clean the air filter, is held in place by small screws in awkward positions. The front case fan partially obstructs hard drive installation, and the drives must be mounted further back in the case than I like. The optical drive door is unusable as the eject button still holds down the button of drives that are installed as far back as possible. There is a rivet on the back panel by the expansion slots which prevents the installation of a video card on one of my PCIEx16 slots. The side panels are particularly tight and can be difficult to remove. The blue paint on the front panel is easy to scratch. I could go on, but my point is made.
- Other Thoughts: Overall, the case is working for me, but I wouldn't buy it again. It will handle most anything that I need it to, but if I decide to add another video card, I will have to replace the case. There are a lot of things about it that are very close to being good but fall short of expectations.
For reference with regard to some of my cons, I am currently using an ASUS M4A77TD Pro motherboard and a Corsair VX550W power supply.
Avoid like the plague
- Pros: Cheap.
- Cons: Cheap.
This is my second build with this particular case. First case was flimsy, didn't like to stand up straight and came with DVD door broken. Overall though, not bad for the price.
Second case came yesterday with a scratch on the bezel, dent on the top, and case badge fallen off and loose in the box. I shrugged it off. Got everything installed and unit will not power on. Through various testing I discover that neither the power button NOR the reset button work. After shipping and restocking for an RMA, I would only get back a few bucks. Totally not worth the trouble. This is a build for a client so I guess I'm eating the cost of a new case and using this one to plant Cilantro in next spring. This case is extremely flimsy and poorly built. Panels do not fit well without forcing. What is up with the QC at Raidmax?
- Other Thoughts: As others mentioned, on 2 different mobos, audio cables were too short to reach without taking front off and rerouting wires.
I've purchased several other Raidmax models over the years and have never had one as poorly built as this one. If you like to gamble, go to the Casino instead of purchasing this thing. I only wish I could give it zero eggs.
Raidmax ATX
- Pros: Very pretty case, decent airflow depending on how you set up your right. I run with Nvidia 790i Ultra SLI mo-bo, 2 9800 GT OC in SLI format, Intel core 2 quad OC to 3.4ghz, 1 TB WD HD, Fan controller and CD/DVD reader/writer. All fits rather well.
- Cons: Front of the case doesn't come off that easily, you will want a modular power supply to cut down on space used and hiding wires in the CD cage.
