Helios

Power Your Gaming World

The Helios gaming case—with its black meshed front panel and front mounted LED fan design—displays a powerful appearance and functionality. The optional 120mm fan on the top panel extracts heat while the front mounted LED fan cools your hard drives. The optional side window-mounted 120mm blue LED fan also provides optimum cooling performance and a great look. A generous chassis depth lets you install longer cards and allows more room for installing a larger power supply. 3.5in. HDD racks are also available for variable HDD or SSD installation. Top all that with tool-free installation and cable management, and you'll see there's no competition that stands up to Helios.

1 out of 5 eggsVery cheap

Pros: It actually looks cool and good concept once I fought my way through setting it up.

Cons: It's built very cheaply. The front fans snap in on some tabs and are hard to put in. I don't think they take into account heat fluctuations, the stupid cheap plastic tabs will get loose and eventually the fans will either move or rattle.

They only included ONE fan, in the front, that puts out almost no air. They do NOT include a rear fan which is very standard.

There were ends of pop rivets rattling around in the bottom, I had to take an extra few minutes and make sure there were no broken rivets anywhere because of that. Poor QA there, and looks shoddy to leave work waste rattling around.

The top fan mount has two screws and 4 plastic tabs holding it on. They did NOT INCLUDE THE NECESSARY LONG SCREWS TO ATTACH THE FAN. Unforgivable omission. Nobody has the proper type and size of shoulder bolts laying around to put that fan in. I wound up using small metal screws and turning them in from the side just at the mount point because I didn't have a 1 1/8" screw to go thru both fan holes like they have it set up.. Had to mess with that for 15 minutes longer than I needed to hunting up the right screws.

The drive cage nearly bent when I put just a little bit of pressure on it, very very cheaply made.

The standoffs are non-standard, small fine threaded screws go in them. Those are included but I was expecting to just grab my pack of motherboard screws and put it right on, instead I had to sort through theirs and figure out that the really small screws go in the standoffs.

Even their own Raidmax logo insignia that they have glued on the front is glued on there crooked.

This case is not worth the normal price they have on it today, and not worth the twenty five after rebate I paid.

Another company with a fairly good name putting something out REALLY REALLY cheap to make a fast buck.

Take a pass on this one people, you will be disappointed.

Raidmax needs to find out why there's like...ZERO...quality control for this case. I'm appalled at the lack of quality and lack of rear fan and stupid cheap plastic snap-on fan mounts, but mostly that they couldn't even include the proper screws to mount the top fan.

Other Thoughts: I said it all above.

3 out of 5 eggsNot as raidmax advertised

Pros: None of the screws stripped on initial installation, surprising.

Cons: Let us start, it didn't include the blue led fan (which it even denotes on the box), the overall metal quality feels cheap, the pictures shown of it with blue removable pci slot covers were a lie (they were break away covers that are non-replaceable), even though it says it has a larger indent in the back side panel it doesn't (it is the same old raidmax side panel), the case doesn't sit level, none of the parts shown in the images of the case to be blue are in fact blue, some but not all of the holes for fan mounting were not properly drilled out, oh and did I mention the overall flimsy feel of the thing as a whole. Well that's enough for my rant.

Other Thoughts: l I don't care much for raidmax. I just ordered the case for a friend's system build, and built a system in it. I've gotten much cheaper better feeling cases from AZZA and rosewill, so I would say they are better for a budget builder offering.

1 out of 5 eggsEhh

Pros: Tool less 5 1/4 inch bay attachment (but that's not rare among cases).

Cons: For one thing, attaching the 8 pin cpu connector was always a bust. They leave a hole for the cable to go through, but once you put the motherboard in, it completely covers up the hole! Also the motherboard doesn't go all the way up to the io shield, there's a gap. And cable management isn't fun in this case.

Other Thoughts: Buy from a trusted brand.

1 out of 5 eggsNever getting RAIDMAX again

Pros: - Cool Design I guess

Cons: - Dust Magnet specially the front part.
- Not very easy to clean
- One of the pins for the front audio fell off
- My fan and mobo wouldn't fit very easily, had to cut off a little bit off the case.
- Never got my rebate

Other Thoughts: - They didn't process my rebate since the paper didn't say explicitly "Invoice" on the actual paper.
- They didn't even tell me anything, I had to manually check my status and it said VOID.
- After contacting them, they were pretty rude and deleted my status page that same day.
- Never going to buy from RAIDMAX again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We're sorry about the rebate issue.

1 out of 5 eggsfried

Pros: good sturdy case at least in the beginning

Cons: I bought this case to build my first computer in and guess what?! the power button got stuck and shorted out the whole computer! and when I tried to RMA all they replaced was the front panel of the case!

Other Thoughts: good case, but a horrible power button

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We would think it was easier just to replace the front panel instead of you sending the whole case back to us and start a RMA process which could result in shipping charges.
We're sorry that the Power Button was creating some problems for you.

4 out of 5 eggsNifty to say the least

Pros: Spacious
Good cable management
Water cooling ability
Good design
Good case for the price

Cons: Raidmax does not support this case at all. Some Chinese guy picked up the phone when I had issues mounting the top fan. The case does offer many fan expansions, however the screws provided are not the best fit. It seems a little delicate especially when removing the front panel. You have to make sure you do not tug excessively due to the USB header connectors.

I had to buy screws that finally worked with my set up.

Other Thoughts: I would suggest looking into slim fans if you are looking to expand cooling...which I highly recommend, I've noticed that when my top fan was mounted, it came very close contact with my motherboard. If you are looking to build a data heavy rig, three drive bays may not cut it for you.

Comes with MOBO standoffs which is nice.

I5 4690k
8 gb ram
GTX 760 SLI
Aftermarket cooler

All fit nice and snug.

4 out of 5 eggsCool tower

Pros: This was a mid tower i wanted, I did a lot of looking . And for a budget gamer builder. I put a 4.1ghz micro atx board in it, witha gtx 660 card, and a graphics cooler below that, an upper fan above the cpu, rear fan, 2 front facing in flow fans. And a side intake fan. With the cpu and gpu and power supply fans. I have 9 fans in this mid tower. And it cools awesome!!! 730 raidmax power supply, 8 gb of ram, couple hard drives and a cd/dvd player.writer. For a budget build tower, it handles all that wiring and has plenty of room to route the wires in it. I love this tower, with led fans and all. it lights up great. I can easlily clean this thing, side panels come right off. The board fit right in.

Cons: Despite looking cool, you just have to be careful, due to the mounts for the motherboard are not so great, and mounting fans can be fun, since the thing has a lot of plastic on it, and all know plastic snaps if it doesn't cooperate with you. But, if careful it will work. It is a cheaper tower, but if your patient when building it, you will enjoy the sleek black look with lights and all in the dark gaming.

Other Thoughts: if careful it will work. It is a cheaper tower, but if your patient when building it, you will enjoy the sleek black look with lights and all in the dark gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsJust enough space

Pros: This case just came in today, I loved the quality of it and the space of the case.
Installed the ASUS M5a99fx motherboard and a AMD FX-9370 AND it has just enough space for the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo although it touches the plexiglass, it fits without any problems at all !!! great cooling and fan space...looks like a space ship Excellent case Raidmax!!

Cons: Only con is that when I installed a top fan, it prevents me from connecting my CPU power so I took the fan out and used it as a push pull for my cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet looking budget case to upgrade later

Pros: I bought this case almost 2 yrs ago for a budget gamer for my kids that I planned to upgrade over time. At the time I was already maxing out on cost so had to compromise on some things. The great thing is that the case still looked and performed great out of the box for a single GPU set up; but once I added a crossfire setup and water cooling, I replaced the 2 cheap molex only front LED fans with Bitfenix variable fans and the top 120mm fan also with a high performance red Bjtfenix LED fan, with another red LED fan pushing air out the back of the case through the CPU fan radiator. This case now looks absolutely sweet and I've gotten a lot of complements on it. More importantly, running crossfire with dual Powercolor Devil R9 270X's and an Overclocked fx6300 the case still runs cool under max load. I think Raidmax makes some of the coolest looking cases for the money, if you're willing to upgrade the fans eventually. The front fans are held on with clips that you have be a little careful removing; I used a screwdriver to push in the lip of the clip before popping out.

Cons: front fan grills will accumulate dirt, lint you have to clean.

Other Thoughts: A little patience required when removing/upgrading the front fans;

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing for the price.

Pros: -Side Window
-Cable Management
-All the fans (that still work a year later!)
-Dust cover for the PSU
-Good air flow
-Blue fans

Cons: -The front panel's fan slot fins break easy.
-Putting the front brackets back in takes some patience.
-Rubbers on the bottom fall off.

Other Thoughts: If you're thinking about this case of the Aeleous. as a cheap budget case, think no more. It'll last and work 'til the computer dies!
