5 out of 5 eggsGood gamer case

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: 1) Has a good bit of room
2) tool-less drive installation(s)
3) can support atx mobo like a boss
4) looks pretty at night
5) cable routing is a bonus on this..., but use tie-straps instead of the stuff that comes with the case
6) Comes with thumb-screws for case sides and a bunch of other screws as well.
7) USB Block off covers and very good designed front panel access

Cons: 1) The fans that comes with it won't coll anything or barely move any air - I suggest replace them asap. (the front fan is a total pita to get out and the fact that it is a 4-pin molex connector)
2) The top of the case is not designed for any fans- no matter what raidmax states, they have rubber grommets to hold the internal filter screen on, and all fan screws will fall through the grommets. Use some creating doings here to mount fans.
3) If planning on mounting a H100i cooler to the top, be prepared for a nightmare. It wont work if you have gaming memory with high heatsinks. Next it will be impossible to mount to the top without some creative to get it to stay there. I went with the h80i- it bolted up perfectly to the 120 fan area at the back of the case.
4) The mobo mounting plate could use some grommets for the cable routing.
5) The top left access hole (near rear of top of the case) will be blocked by the mobo-so forget running any cable through there.
6) Filter screen mounting on the bottom of case are poorly designed. They fell off of mine when I was moving the case around to build it. ( I just replaced them with some aftermarket ones that bolted on with the fan.)
7) The window is a bit small compared to others I have seen on NewEgg here. The design in it will give you a headache if you look at it too long.

Other Thoughts: All in all, it is a good case. Mine is a wiring nightmare on the backside. I have it maxxed-out atm with all the goodies I can think of.

4.7GHz AMD FX-9590
Gigabyte FX990 mobo,
2-asus dvd burners,
Asus r9-280 3GB video card
inatek USB 3.0 card
NGTZ media card reader with 3.0 usb (makes 12 usb 3.0 ports I have)
Samsung pro 128 Gig sata 3 for OS
WD 600g velociraptor - storage
2-Delta Fans pulling 120cfm Front and bottom (very noisy-but get the job done)
NGZT 140mm fan pulling in from top of case
Raidmaxx GH1000 Modular PSU
3.5" fan speed controller (mounted on inside near wd drive)
External USB 1TB USB backup drive clipped/mounted to rear of case
FrozenCPU modular green led light setup
DIY Video card fan cooler setup
Win 7 pro x64 modded to look and work like XP pro on steroids

CPU temps 30-40c
Case temps 25-38c
Video card 29-68c (68c is gaming load with fans on low- 45c is with fans on high and gaming load)

Runs everything I have thrown at it so far....Including DesignCAD at max renderings. Extremely fast system.

5 out of 5 eggsFilters and Colors Oh my

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Fan filters everywhere, This is amazing to have and keeps it clean inside. The internal Cable management is a must have, the Wide body design allows the cables more room and airflow. Port covers came with mine and keep those nice n clean. The green fan just accents the look even more.

Cons: Amazing looking front fan LED, makes me want underglow LED under it. Personal desire but not a flaw.

4 out of 5 eggsreview update

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: I've had this case for nearly a year now and wanted to update my review.
1 capable of decent airflow with all of the fan mount locations and vented areas(see cons)
2 build quality is pretty decent, plastic front panel feels a little cheap but everything else except the slides for drives are made of metal. There were no sharp edges, and no defects or damage. (See other thoughts)
3 cable management is adequate. The only things I had any problem with was the multi Molex off of my cx600m, I probably could fit it into the bulge on the right of the case, but I found it easier to stuff the extra into bottom of the 3.5 drive bay. This is low enough that it doesn't block the air from the front fan so I immagine should be fine.

Cons: 1 "Fan mount locations". The top two fan mount locations are unusable with screws. Raidmax, what are you doing? Advertise it as fan mount locations, then specifically put different holes only on the top that are about twice the size of a fan screw. I couldn't find a washer that was thin enough to let the screw thread into the fan while still having a hole small enough for the screw head. Unless you have custom screws, you will have to mount the top fans via zip ties regardless of size.

2 also fan related. If you decide to use a cpu AIO water cooler of the 120mm veriety and mount it in the rear location, you will not have room for 2 fans on the top using the spacing provided. If you offset your top fans from center, and turn them a little crooked to hit other holes with your zip ties, it will barely work.

This was very frustrating at the time of discovery, but isn't a big deal now.

Other Thoughts: As a testimdnt to the durability of this case, while it was empty (thank goodness)I dropped it off of a tall work table and it fell directly on the bottom right corner, hard. Broke a tile on the floor, and broke the plastic part off of the thumb screw. Thats pretty much it, it bent the side panel a tiny bit in the corner, but that was fixed by simply tightening the screw.

This is a decent case, I don't know if I would reccomend it to a friend, but I wouldn't steer someone away from it either. There isn't anything really bad about it, but it isn't the best at anything either, which is why it's priced as it is. If you're interested in it, try and pick it up on sale. at regular price I feel like it's on the fence.

5 out of 5 eggsNice case, small problem

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Very nice looking, Lots of room for adding fans

Cons: The front panel cables aren't color coded, so I have no clue which side is + or -. Not sure I have it wired correctly until I actually try it. The manual is of no help at all.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat but couldn't use it without hardware

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: It seems like the case will do the job once assembled. I will write more in this section once they send me the hardware to assemble it.

Cons: When I opened up the box and pulled the case out of the wrapping I noticed there was no hardware included. I called Raidmax customer support and they stated for me to email rma@raidmax.com and they would be able to quickly send out the hardware that was missing due to manufacturer error. I quickly emailed them giving all the required information and they didn't even respond even though they had all of friday to get back to me.

Other Thoughts: I am mainly irritated with the lack of hustle getting back to me as this case was purchased for a customer that was on a time constraint. I even purchased the more expensive shipping option to expedite the whole process. Not finding all of the necessary hardware was a major inconvenience as now it may push the build an entire week if the hardware never gets sent. I understand the potential for human error but the whole reason for customer support is to quickly fix this error backing up your product. If they would have responded and delivered the hardware for the next day I would not have had any problem and would have gave a more positive review.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We have heard your response and forwarded over to management team.
The reason why we ask you to email to our email account is because we need a proof of purchase.
Therefore we'll need you to email the invoice/receipt of where you bought the case from.
Once we see your invoice, we can just follow the customer info on the invoice and send it to the address without any mistakes.
I know it's a silly policy, but after the years of experience we thought this was the best way to go.
We hope we can just look up your invoice and then just send replacement to you.
Unfortunately we are not the company that actually sold you the product so we need a proof of purchase.
Again, we hope you get the replacement parts soon.

We appreciate you choosing Raidmax products.

5 out of 5 eggsA Bold Appearance

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: What can I say? I really like this case. What sold me was the three drive bays, the Ultra Bright Green LED Front Inlet Fan, and room. Plenty of room, can we talk? The cable management system is fantastic. It conceals my bulky power supply cables. It looks just as good off, as it does on. Ok, better on, but you get the point. Great air flow, and plenty of areas for additional fans. The collapsible plastic handles used to remove side panels. I would have preferred the handles being make out of a more durable material. Like DiCast Metal maybe?

Cons: The side window. I would have preferred to place an outlet fan in that area, as opposed to a small, tinted window. USB ports are a little tight, and flimsy. I do recall someone commenting on that, and he ended up breaking them.

Other Thoughts: Originally, I went with the DIYPC Solar-M1-G. I wanted two 2.0 USB ports, and two 3.0 ports USB. It was a mistake, the case was too small, and cable management was practically non-existent. The air flow as so poor, that I received a pop up dialog box indicating that my Processor Core 0 temp was too hot.

4 out of 5 eggsMostly happy.

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Roomy for the size. Bulged side panels give extra room for cable management in the back.

Build quality feels solid, and cable management was a breeze.

Cons: Although the front light fan is nice and bright, keep in mind that the fan is a bit cheap, and if you want to upgrade it it's a little annoying to get to it.

Also keep in mind that the front light does not illuminate the rest of the case, and the back fan is not lit at all. Buy extra lighting/fans with LEDs if brightly lit insides is your thing.

The dust filters are also not the greatest/most effective. But at least it has something.

Other Thoughts: With my only complaints being lack of matching fans, and cheap dust filters, I was debating between 4 and 5 since the price was so cheap for this case. But then I remembered that the rebate process wasn't great, and I never heard back from them (6 months later now). So since I actually payed 60 for this instead of 45, I'm going with 4.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressed!

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Very Nice, lightweight for the size, lots of open space inside to allow you to arrange things as needed. The Extra space on the sides for cables are spectacular. Side window looks nice, and plenty of easy access for more fans if you desire them.

Cons: Only complaint that I have is the location of the Hard Drive Bays. The back of the hard drive almost butts right up against the wall, so plugging a power/sata cable into the drive, even a 90 degree angle cable, presses against the side of the case. Not a dealbreaker, just slightly inconvenient and makes putting the sides back on after maintenance a slight hassle, I don't consider this worth docking an egg.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend, though do yourself a favor and have as many 90 degree sata/power cables for your hard drive(s) as possible.
