4 out of 5 eggscheap as expected

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: cool looking
decent wire management options
configurable storage drive cages

Cons: fans that come with it are very weak
very flimsy side panels

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. I suppose I got what I was expecting for a case at this price. It isnt bad but it isnt great.

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Good design, ample room, lots of fan space w/fan filters on the top and rear. If the product color scheme was black/green as advertised I would have given it 5 eggs.

Cons: The reason I was so set on purchasing this case over more popular options was the green interior plate and green LED fan. However, the one shipped to me had a white plate/LED. I am seriously bummed. I purchased the unit on the last day a promotional rebate was available and it is now out of stock through newegg. Not wanted to having to go through the return process I am stuck either dealing with it, or having to buy a separate, green-led front fan - which with the case design is a pain in the rear to access.

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Bought this tower for my new build pc and I'm very happy with the design and functionality of the case itself. Installed 3 extra 120mm fan to keep the whole system vented.

This is the system I build:

MSI 990FXA-GD80 V2 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

ASUS GTX660-DC2O-2GD5 G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C10D-16GXM

5 out of 5 eggsRaidmax Cobra

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Shipping was very fast even around the holidays. Cable management was very good and easy to accomplish. For the price this is a very well made case. I am extremely pleased. Only had on minor issue with installation (see cons).

Cons: Only issue was that the MOBO standoffs were positioned for a bigger motherboard. Easily fixed by moving the standoffs into proper positions for my MOBO.

5 out of 5 eggsGood buy, sweet case!

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: LOTS of room! Great cable management. Sweet looks with LED options. Very light, not heavy at all. Delivered in perfect shape and had no problems with anything.

Cons: Not enough room in top for AIO liquid cooler. Mount holes for top fans not correct and will require some geek engineering. USB 3.0 front header isn't standard and won't fit some MB's. Bottom dust covers sort of goofy to remove to clean.

Other Thoughts: My son picked this out for his next rig, chose green LED, looks awesome, and he has all the Razor stuff to match it. Plan to add other green LED fans and strips to enhance the inside, the window is small so you need a lot of LED's to really make it pop.

Really wanted to put in a Raijintek Triton dual 120mm AIO liquid cooler with green LED and fluid, but not enough head room in the top of case, sigh, would have looked killer through the small Cobra window. Will probably go with a Corsair H80i in the rear instead.

Was really impressed with the amount of room for everything. Got the longest Radeon R9 card made and fits no problem, also the cable management plenum was PLENTY with extra to spare, and the toolless drive bays are always nice to work with.

I see some other negative comments about the air flow, but this case has no problem with that imo, even if you only run the front and rear fans. but add a bottom and top fan and it will be overly sufficient. Don't have any data with temp tests under full gaming load yet, but ambient case temps at idle with thermo probe show around 20c, so I'm not worried.

Bottom line is I'm stoked now to redo my rig after doing this case I am getting another one in blue for my rig! Gogo Raidmax!!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Case

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Decent sized case, lots of room for cable management, doesn't feel cheap, and awesome looking.

Cons: The only problem I had with this case was that there is no cpu cable cutout and the cpu cable on my PSU(Corsair TXM 550) was to short to cable route through the back and to my motherboard but other than that it's a great case.

Other Thoughts: Like i said in the con section no CPU cable cutout.

5 out of 5 eggsVery, very nice

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is an extremely large case for being a ATX mid, in fact, most of my friends coming over thought it was a full tower. The fans are great for stock fans, and it had plenty of room to add my Corsair H50 liquid cooling. It's a solid case all around, and definitely worth the price.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: The two back handles are quite weird, I can't imagine a scenario where I would need them, and they are awkward to hold, but oh well. Nice additions none-the-less.

4 out of 5 eggsUpgrading my old case

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: Won't accept CPU coolers as big as they say.

Other Thoughts: I usually don’t write reviews on hardware, but in this case, I want to relate my experiences with this case, so that you know before you buy.

1) I’m using a Prolimatech Supermega CPU cooler (158.7mm tall). Due to tall RAM heat sinks, I have to offset one of the 120mm fans, so that it stands 9.5mm above the Supermega. Overall height would be 168.2mm. Raidmax says that it supports CPU coolers up to 176mm. I thought I’d be able to keep a couple of mm between the RAM & CPU fan, and a couple between the CPU fan & the side of the case. No vibration worries. Unfortunately, the case doesn't really support 176mm CPU coolers. With everything installed, the CPU fan presses right against the side of the case, which also pushes it into contact with the RAM chip. Although I don’t feel any vibration or rattle on the case side, I know that the fan has to be transferring some amount of vibration to the RAM. Hopefully, not enough to damage it. So, keep in mind that you can really only use a cooler about 168mm tall max.

2) I added two 120mm fans to the top of the case, but I wanted to add a three pc. filter to each, just because I don’t think of the cases mesh screen is enough. So I installed the filter kits to the fans and mounted them to the case. Then when I tried to put in the motherboard (an MSI P67A-G45) I found that the large heat sink at the top of the board (maybe for a bridge) interferes with the filters, and won’t allow you to position the motherboard. So, out came the filters, and the MB fits fine. If you intend to use filters, verify that your MB does not have anything that sticks up at the top of the board.

3) I wanted to have two 120mm fans in the front. First of all, if you need to use any fan screws other than the four that come with the front fan, you’ll have to drill the holes a little larger, as the screw holes will not accommodate normal fan screws. So, I laid out the position for the two fans, opened up the holes, and mounted the fans. Then I tried to put the front panel back on, and guess what, the cords on the back of the power/reset/USB ports stick into the fan. I know, I should have checked first. So out came both fans, and I put one in the original position. Fortunately, I hadn’t needed to open up those holes. So one front fan it is.

4) They make it sound like the space behind the motherboard plate is the best thing for cable routing since cable ties. It’s not really helpful. With the power supply going on the bottom of the case, all of the cables have to route upward, so you end up bending and looping back cables to connect to your components. I was lucky that everything barely reached.

Don’t get me wrong. Overall, it’s not a bad case. It looks good, and since I upgraded the supplied fans to higher CFM fans, it keeps my system nice and cool. It had a few problems, specific to my build, but if you have different components, it'll probably work fine. Removing one egg for the CPU cooler error.

5 out of 5 eggsGood gamer case

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra ATX-502WBG Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: 1) Has a good bit of room
2) tool-less drive installation(s)
3) can support atx mobo like a boss
4) looks pretty at night
5) cable routing is a bonus on this..., but use tie-straps instead of the stuff that comes with the case
6) Comes with thumb-screws for case sides and a bunch of other screws as well.
7) USB Block off covers and very good designed front panel access

Cons: 1) The fans that comes with it won't coll anything or barely move any air - I suggest replace them asap. (the front fan is a total pita to get out and the fact that it is a 4-pin molex connector)
2) The top of the case is not designed for any fans- no matter what raidmax states, they have rubber grommets to hold the internal filter screen on, and all fan screws will fall through the grommets. Use some creating doings here to mount fans.
3) If planning on mounting a H100i cooler to the top, be prepared for a nightmare. It wont work if you have gaming memory with high heatsinks. Next it will be impossible to mount to the top without some creative to get it to stay there. I went with the h80i- it bolted up perfectly to the 120 fan area at the back of the case.
4) The mobo mounting plate could use some grommets for the cable routing.
5) The top left access hole (near rear of top of the case) will be blocked by the mobo-so forget running any cable through there.
6) Filter screen mounting on the bottom of case are poorly designed. They fell off of mine when I was moving the case around to build it. ( I just replaced them with some aftermarket ones that bolted on with the fan.)
7) The window is a bit small compared to others I have seen on NewEgg here. The design in it will give you a headache if you look at it too long.

Other Thoughts: All in all, it is a good case. Mine is a wiring nightmare on the backside. I have it maxxed-out atm with all the goodies I can think of.

4.7GHz AMD FX-9590
Gigabyte FX990 mobo,
2-asus dvd burners,
Asus r9-280 3GB video card

Samsung pro 128 Gig sata 3 for OS
WD 600g velociraptor - storage
2-Delta Fans pulling 120cfm Front and bottom (very noisy-but get the job done)
NGZT 140mm fan pulling in from top of case
Raidmaxx GH1000 Modular PSU
3.5" fan speed controller (mounted on inside near wd drive)
External USB 1TB USB backup drive clipped/mounted to rear of case
FrozenCPU modular green led light setup
DIY Video card fan cooler setup
Win 7 pro x64 modded to look and work like XP pro on steroids

CPU temps 30-40c
Case temps 25-38c
Video card 29-68c (68c is gaming load with fans on low- 45c is with fans on high and gaming load)

Runs everything I have thrown at it so far....Including DesignCAD at max renderings. Extremely fast system.
