2 out of 5 eggsCase is a BAD design for a high-end gaming rig

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-402WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Easy to work with within it's severe limitations
Good space for cable management
Easy access to front filters to clean them, and fairly decent filters

Cons: Only has slots for *6* cards
Cooling fan hold on bottom does NOT line up correctly with larger power supplies like my Seasonic X1250s or my EVGA 1300 G2s
"Filter" on the bottom does NOT stay on, and blocks airflow quite a bit while providing VERY poor filtering.
LEDs and power/reset switches are INVISIBLE from the front, PAIN to work with when you can't SEE the bloody things!

TOTALLY UNACCEPTAB:E FOR A HIGH END 3 CARD GAMING RIG, and NOT a good design in general.

Other Thoughts: 20/20 hindsight I wish I'd never bought this overpriced cheap piece of junk, and I will NOT bother looking at "Raidmax" products in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsIt's ok...

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-402WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Comes with fan and front facing USB.

Cons: Very light weight. If I didn't get it for about $20 (after rebate) I wouldn't be happy with it. But its for a gaming system and sits in a cabinet most of the time...

Other Thoughts: Gets the job done, but not much more.

Manufacturer Response:

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-402WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Its great, looks great, great airflow and has a nice side window to look at the inside and show off.
Its super great if you are on a budget.

Cons: The fan it comes with makes noise not a lot but more than enough.
The 3.0 USB did not work for me I don't know why.
I think a filter was missing when i opened it.

2 out of 5 eggsOverall Decent Case But Needs Improvement

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-402WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: - Pretty cheap but decent case
- Has 3 internal 2.5" bay slots
- Screw-free locking mechanism sounds like a great idea (read Other for why it's an idea only and not a practice)
- 4 fan mounts total provide for pretty good air flow
- Lots of room inside the case
- Great cable management side panel if you want to use it (I didn't)
- It bends easily (read Other as to why this was sort of a good thing for me)

Cons: - Feels very cheap
- Didn't come with screw-free locking tool. (read Other for more info)
- The metal feels like it can bend without too much effort in certain areas
- The placeholder expansion panels come out way too easy. I nearly broke a bunch of them through while fitting in the metal casing that came with the motherboard
- The back where the metal casing would go is not designed nicely to have an easy fit (read Other for more info)
- The wires in the case for the front panel felt very flimsy. I was afraid of touching them at times because it felt like it would crumble in my hands
- There is a small circular dent in each of the 3 hard disk drive bays. (read Other for more info)

Other Thoughts: - The screw-free locking tool sounds like such a great idea. No hassle of having to install screws into the sides of your optical drive bays or hard drives inside the case while awkwardly positioning your hands to get it right. However, it didn't come with anything. I googled it and couldn't find anything about them. Not even a link on Raidmax's website to purchase replacements. In fact, not one review I read mentioned getting these and the only time I've even seen them was on one person's youtube review.

- Now I wrote bend easily as a Pro. It's a Con as well but for me, it sort of helped. The back of the case where the metal casing would be fit into was not large enough to fit the casing that came with my motherboard. You can argue this is the case of the supplier of the motherboard, but all casings should be relatively the same in size. It doesn't make sense to me then that the case would not be optimized to fit the metal casings from all motherboard suppliers for the supported sizes. For those curious, I bought the ASUS A68HM-E mATX mobo. The cheap metal of the case allowed me to easily bend the back of the case just enough to slam the metal casing into it and then bend it back into place. Of course, this is not a good thing, not a recommended thing to do, and shouldn't have to be done, but in my case, it needed to be done but should have been avoided by Raidmax optimizing the case to support casings of all types of supported mobo sizes.

- The small circular dent was a pain in the rear, to say the least. When inserting my hard drive, I had to input a little force to get it inside the bay. I didn't notice this little circular dent sticking out into the bay area. Then once it did go down, it wasn't aligned properly. This was due to the dent. In fact. the dent scraped one of the sides of my hard drive completely. Once again, I was able to luckily bend the piece outward using my pocket knife and was able to install my hard drive securely. Using a screw to put it into place was a bit of a pain since it doesn't align with the holes provided but the screw-free locking tool hole. It didn't provide too much of a challenge, but it was indeed inconvenient.

Final thoughts: I would give this 3 stars because it got the job done on a great budget but the stress from some of the design choices and the amount of effort needed to deal with them has brought me to give it 2 stars.

1 out of 5 eggsAway from this case

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-402WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: - Good Price
- Fine Quality

Cons: - If you have mATX board and if you are planning to use VGA card, then maybe you can`t use HDMI port with this case since it has weird layout .

4 out of 5 eggsNice product for the price.

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-402WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: -On the smaller size, yet still has plenty of room for large GPUs.
-Three 2.5" internal storage bays.
-(Optional) Fan location on top of case.

Cons: -2.5" and 3.5" Drive bays require screws with somewhat difficult to reach screw locations.
-Power and reset buttons have very little movement - feel cheap.

Other Thoughts: I knew the cons going into this product and decided it was still worth the asking price. I was very pleased with how easily the sides came off and went back on, given some of the reviews.

4 out of 5 eggsOkay for the price

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-402WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: As the title says, for the price this is a great product. Mine was a bit damaged by shipping but ended up not returning it, since I was able to fix it by hand. It has okay cable management space. Never the less, it's a good product.

Cons: Besides the shipping, nothing.

3 out of 5 eggsLooks nice, feels bad.

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-402WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case is a very easy to build in case and looks nice too. You can fit practically anything within it and has room for a few fans. Easy cable management.

Cons: The build quality was all just "meh". It was okay but it felt cheap. The plastic parts felt like i could break it and the metal felt like it was going to bend and felt very cheap. However I knew they weren't going to bend or break of course.

Other Thoughts: If they increase build quality it would be a near perfect case.
