3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra Z ATX-502WBR Black/Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Good for the price. This is my first build. Case has survived my amateur handling. I wish the window were a bit lighter to show off the inside more.

Cons: Needs a screen at the front. The screens at the sides are flimsy. The motherboard was a pain to fit in and screws are terrible. If you have big hands, forget it. I did get it in, but will NEVER be moving it again. One egg removed for the screens and another lost for the motherboard placement. Otherwise, it's been a solid case.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case for the Price

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra Z ATX-502WBR Black/Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is a great case for the price and has everything I needed or could want for my modest build. It's spacious, has plenty of cable management points, supplied me with just the right blend of USB 2/3.0 ports and I really like the tool-less features it offers. The "removeable filters" listed are nice but could be better, but I guess its what you get with a budget style case like this - More in the Cons section.

Cons: I have just two complaints with this case 1. the front fan cable is too short, unless you have the right motherboard with a sys-fan slot on the front edge (case front facing side). This could be labeled as more of a MoBo issue, but still is easily corrected with a very affordable fan extension cable. (for reference I have the Gigabyte z97x gaming 5 (1.0) MoBo). My only other complaint is the "removable filters" seem incredibly flimsy and I'd be very worried about breaking off one of the plastic tabs being used to hold them in place.

Other Thoughts: It's a great case for the price and I love the design and features, but I just can't push myself to give it 5 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Case I have purchased since the HAF-X

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra Z ATX-502WBR Black/Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Bought this a year ago as a computer for our cabin, and I liked it so much that I am about to order another one for my bedroom at home, but realized I never gave it a review last year. There is nothing wrong with this case, everything is perfect. From the materials and workmanship, to the cable management, to the drive-swap ability, this is the perfect mid-tower case for those that love the red on black look. It is pretty quiet, and the red fan led is super red (not faded pink/orange like other cheap fans). It is in fact the deepest, truest red of any fan I have seen. I am excited to have a second one in as many years!

Cons: As others have stated, the only con is no dust screen on the front fan. You can take the cover off and install a screen between the fan and the chassis if you wish. You would have to unscrew the fan each time to clean. Our cabin is clean and free of pets, but with two cats in the bedroom for my second build of this, I am going to re-purpose some old window screens.

Other Thoughts: While this approaches the pricetag of top name brand full towers, reading the reviews about the cheap construction and material quality of cheaper towers for a quick bedroom, and having owned this for a year already at the cabin, makes me not chance it and stick with the quality. You really do get what you pay for. My main computer is the infamous HAF-X tower, but I didn't need a full tower or want to break the bank for a bedroom PC.

3 out of 5 eggsThe Screws!

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra Z ATX-502WBR Black/Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: It is a very nice looking case, comes with many features! I love the bay's that hold 5.5" inch drives. They are amazing and in the best place! It is very easy to organize your wires in the back because the case includes reusable ties!

Cons: Where you installbyour motherboard is the worst place ever! When I installed my motherboard the motherboard screws got stuck in there so now my motherboard is stuck in there! The screws in the case suck I mean everyone would hate them!

4 out of 5 eggsNot perfect but good, would buy again

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra Z ATX-502WBR Black/Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: - Overall good quality. Structurally durable.

- MB standoffs are separate brass slugs, not built-in to the case, which I like.

- HDD and ROM disk drive installation is tool-less and works well. (Need one screw/nut per PCI card)

- Chassis fans run quiet, and the HDD is cushioned well so it's also quiet while reading/writing.

- Came with one SATA cable having a 90-degree connector on one end, which was great since these are necessary for the HDDs because of the way they're mounted.

Cons: - No filter on the front intake fan.

- Bottom PSU placement made my 12v MB line go right over the RAM and tend to drape onto it, and there is no built-in cable management so I had to get a bit creative.

- SATA power to the HDDs needs to have a 90-degree connector (if those exist), otherwise the wires have to take a sharp turn when you put the cover on. I was able to "comb" all the wires into a single band and then bend them down, which makes them touch the inside of the case when it's on but there is little or no tension. Either a 90-degree SATA power adapter should be included, or the HDDs should sit a little further into the case to give more room for the power connectors and wires.

Other Thoughts: I've seen some cases that look pretty awesome but they're cheaply made and/or poorly designed. This case is not one of those. Aside from the minor cons I listed, it's pretty much everything I was expecting and hoping for. I bought this case to build a computer for a friend, and I'll definitely consider it when I upgrade my own.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent product!

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra Z ATX-502WBR Black/Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: I was hesitant about getting this case after reading some of the cons in reviews from other customers, but I decided to give it a go anyway because of the really nice rebate. I do not regret that decision at all.

First of all, the tool-less design works very well! You'll get plenty of clips for installing HDDs/SSDs and I've never had any break or not lock into place.

The cable management works very well for me! Some people may have trouble, depending on how many cables they really have, but I think the typical user will be satisfied. Even the thick main power line fits fine!

I saw someone complained about the PSU location in one review, but it's standard that PSUs are at the bottom of cases nowadays. Mine's down there and, because of my thick carpet, I just cut a piece of cardboard for my PC to sit on so airflow remains optimal. I've never had overheat issues of any kind and the airflow through this case is the best I've seen.

Cons: There are a few cons, but nothing major. All of them combined to subtract an egg, but only barely.

First, the HDD activity LED cables (3 total) are labeled similarly to the PWR LED cables and it's difficult to tell which goes into which pin on the MB. But it shouldn't be a big issue. If the light doesn't come on, you probably just need to switch the polarity.

There are no SD card readers in this. That's one feature I would've really liked to see, but I can get an adapter or something cheap, so, again, not a big issue.

As I mentioned previously, my carpet is pretty thick and I needed to put a piece of cardboard under my PC to allow airflow into the PSU. Larger feet would've also been a good solution.

Other Thoughts: It's a good looking case! Sleek, good color choices, good airflow. I definitely recommend buying this as long as you can deal with the cons I mentioned.

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra Z ATX-502WBR Black/Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: I bought this to replace my 10 year old JPAC case. I am very happy with this case, it is sturdy and well made, design looks good, lots of space.

Cons: Only con is the hard drive cables have to be bent harshly and the case side panel kind of forcibly put on because of the cable placement. I have read there are different cable designs that prevent this but I don't think it's something to worry over.

Other Thoughts: I like it a lot.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra Z ATX-502WBR Black/Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: As advertised, was very pleased

Cons: The only 2 cons I have, 1 being a tiny con and the other a design flaw. The side panels have to be thumbscrewed in or the panels do not square up to the body. They preinstalled filters on all the fan ports........except the front intake!!!!

Other Thoughts: Although the major filtering design flaw I would highly recommend this case.
