2 out of 5 eggsBuy another case

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-404WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: -Looks nice
-Decent cable management
-Spacious enough for components

Cons: -Motherboard standoffs do not line up with motherboard
-Standoff screws were machined poorly, could not secure the motherboard (mounting screw and the standoff would spin together, so it would not tighten)
- PCI slots don't match up with cutouts, cutout dividers also obstruct parts of the card
-No tool-less drive bay locks included

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend spending a little bit more and buying something else. This case is much more trouble than it's worth.

3 out of 5 eggsGet what you pay for

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-404WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Cheap. Some cable management.

Cons: Side window is cheap plastic, very tinted, and not made well, causing a dark and distorted view of interior. Only comes with one black fan. No LEDs. Bad packaging. Came in dented on side panel. Tried to fix it myself, but still (barely) noticeable.

5 out of 5 eggsOk For the Price

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-404WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Good Packing. The cut out for the I/O shield is not perfect. Very light weight and not a really pretty finish but for the price it was good. Includes instructions on how to remove front bezel.

Cons: I/O Shield cut out could be better.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend for a teenager build or low price build.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Case

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-404WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Cheap
Looks are great
Perfect Size

Cons: Weak metal siding easy to scratch
Dark side window
Bottom hard drive fan doesnt provide case cooling.

Other Thoughts: Pretty good case it isnt very sturdy and easy to scratch its got plenty of room for components. I recommend getting a couple aftermarket fans I got the corsair quite edition. Mine was overheating until my fans came in. The bottom fan slot in the front is only used for 3.5" hard drives and will not cool your case. The side window is really dark and am considering replacing it. Overall you get what you pay for.

2 out of 5 eggsNeeds Improvement

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-404WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: -cheap
-has removable 2.5in drive bay to fit up to 15'' GPU
-window (if you want one)
-front cover opens pretty easily
-looks good with my fan controller colors

Cons: -CABLE MANAGEMENT SUCKS: there are no holes on top of mATX or ATX motherboard positions so some cords have to either be shoved dangerously over edge or routed across the board. There are no covers for the cable holes so it is not very "pretty".

-DRIVE BAY SUCKS: had to remove 2.5 in bay to fit my GPU which is not big deal but the drive bays are not set right for HDD or even 2.5 drive bay adapters. You must use screws but not all the holes line up. The manual says to use tool-less drive bay locks but they come separately apparently.

-LIKELY TO SHOW UP BROKEN: Packaging on this thing sucks, they cushion the top and bottom but nothing on the sides so the side showed up busted in the first time I got it.

-FRONT FAN MOUNTS SUCK: to fit the two fans on the front under the cover you must use the really long screws they give you because the holes are drilled the wrong way so you cant go in through the inside of the case. The problem is there are two fan mount and only 4 screws, so each fan only gets 2 screws. The threads are weak and one gave out during the install, so just one screw is really useful now.

-back I/O shield doesn't fit well at all
-window is smoked so you can hardly see components anyway
-fan that comes with the case is loud and doesn't move much air

Other Thoughts: Honestly, not worth it. While it is cheap, there are better cases that are at this price or just a bit more. 4 fans is not enough in this case IMO so you may also need to mod the case to fit more fans.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Packaging

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-404WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: none yet. Sitting on the phone to speak with Customer service 40 mins have passed.

Cons: Arrived Broken. No additional packagind was added to protect the sides so the plexi glass was broken and the backside is bent in.

Other Thoughts: Better packaging would have prevented this.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We are sorry to hear that there was some damages on the product due to shipping.
We tried hard to pack our product the best we can however the shipping carrier sometimes just slams and throws the product.
No matter how great it's packed, it cannot be thrown or else damages will occur.
Again, we love to ship you whatever parts you need, please send a email to rma@raidmax.com for faster respond/service.
We appreciate you choosing Raidmax products.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-404WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: -Good cable management
-Looks nice
-Light weight
-Good for budget build

Cons: Only really have one and that's the front fan screws.
*see other thoughts on how I fixed this

Other Thoughts: The front fan screws are special and the kicker is it gives you 2 slots for fans but only 4 screws. I thought well okay, I'll just use two on each fan, no big deal. Well the fans came and the screws were too long. You could put a bunch of washers on the screws, but what I did was drilled the holes out with a 11/64 bit and used the regular self tapping screws and it works perfectly now. Overall, I expected some grief with a $40 case but it turned out surprisingly okay. Overall, if you're looking for your first case, don't get this one. If you're experienced and want a budget case, this will do good.

4 out of 5 eggsRaidmax

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-404WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Well built case at the price point, and was able to fit my build from the previous case with no problems. Had plenty of cable management space.

Cons: The case has no tooless installation I believe it has to be ordered seperate. This is the only reason it loses an egg in my review.

Other Thoughts: If your on a budget but want a nice windowed case you cant go wrong with this case.

5 out of 5 eggsGood budget case

This review is from: RAIDMAX Vortex ATX-404WB Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: - just enough room to hide all of my cables
- the thumbscrews on the door are easy to use

Cons: - sometimes the door doesn't line up right, although better than most other cases I've opened.

Other Thoughts: Got exactly what I expected out of it. No issues during installation. I'm satisfied.
