3 out of 5 eggsNice budget case

Pros: Great to see Chieftec cases back on Newegg. These cases are known for their rigid construction and affordable pricing.

-Arrived very well packed in a thick double-wall box.
-Price is right, and it has dropped even lower since I ordered it.
-Front silver mesh piece held in place by Phillips head screws. Very easy to remove for additional intake airflow.
-Good airflow thanks to cutout for rear 120mm exhaust fan.
-Front audio, usb, and firewire ports with sleeved cables.
-One of the 80mm front intake fans blows directly over the mounted hard drives keeping them very cool. (Same as the old Chieftec Dragon cases)
-Stand up company. Was able to call their office in Hayward, CA and get questions answered with no hold time.

Cons: Cons:
-Had a ~1" scuff on the front door that covers the drive bays. Would expect better quality control than this for a brand new case.
-The rear mounting plate/piece of metal where the motherboard screws into was slightly pushed in/indented near where the furthermost upper right hand screw goes. This meant that I couldn't use that screw hole, because if I did, it would force the motherboard to bend down in order to meet the standoff because of how the backplate was malformed there. Not a huge deal, but annoying. Might just be bad luck. I'm guessing that not all of them are like this.
-Front door doesn't always open smoothly. The bottom right part sometimes gets stuck slightly and then it kindof "pops" open as opposed to opening smoothly.
-Stamped fan grills in the sheet metal in front of the two 80mm intake fans. This seems unnecessary and I feel that if anything it should have been the honeycomb style design like on the rear fan. Easily remedied with a tin snips and a dremel, th

Other Thoughts: Because of the way that the second front intake fan resides within the drive cage, your hard drives will protrude out the back of the cage more than normal. This causes them to come very close to my ATI 3870. I had to mount the drives right next to each other as well as do some creative routing of the sata and PCI-E power cables to make it work. Not quite as much space in this case as I would've thought from looking at the photos.

Aside from some minor inconveniences this is a pretty solid case from a good company. The price is perfect. Doesn't come with any fans, but I consider this a positive because I installed high quality low speed fans. Airflow and temperatures are great especially with the stamped fan grills cut out and the front mesh panel removed.

5 out of 5 eggsVery solid case

Pros: Very well built. No case jiggle or sway whatsoever. Lots of room. The drive bays are easy to remove when installing the drive.

Cons: The LED and power cables were a bit short, and I wasn't able to plug all of them into the board I got. Granted, this board didn't do any favors for placement (bottom, middle), but there should've been a bit mroe slack.

Other Thoughts: I was very impressed with how easy it was to load in the mainboard and components.

5 out of 5 eggsWelcome Back!

Pros: Let me just say that I have had a Chieftec case for over 4 years. I'm glad to see them back on the Egg. They are like Fords - BUILT TOUGH - and I still am using it today. Classy Cases.

Cons: The only thing disapointing about these are that they were gone for over 4 years when newegg ran out of them and they just never came back till now.

Other Thoughts: You won't regret Purchasing a Chieftec case. They make for a real nice build. Lots of room, eveything funtional, no silly bling.
