Silverstone's TJ09 case is cool INside, as well as out. With video cards getting more and more powerful, thus running hotter all the time, it was starting to affect overall system temperatures and something needed to be done. Silverstone mounted two 120mm fans in the chassis, one at the top of the mobo area on the back and the other mounted internally mid-case with dedicated ducts on the sides to draw cool air from outside the case. Slots for two additional 120mm fans on the top make sure that your system can breathe like it needs to.

Storage is becoming more important than ever, and with hard drive prices coming down and RAID solutions increasing in availability and ease of use, hard drive space is needed. This case is set up for that with 4 external 5.25" and 1 external 3.5" bay plus 6 internal 3.5" bays. The internal bays have vents on the sides of the case for easy cross ventilation.

The imposing black monolith will match nicely with the black bezel on your LCD monitor.

  • newegg Premium All-aluminum Chassis The SILVERSTONE TJ09-B's full aluminum body out of the advanced structural engineering reaches the balance between chassis stiffness and heat dissipation. The brand new inner layout raises the level of cooling performance while holding broad compatibility with SSI, Extended ATX, ATX and Micro ATX motherboards.
  • newegg Great Expandability with 11 Drive Bays Boasting four external 5.25" drive bays, and seven 3.5" drive bays (one external and six internal), the SILVERSTONE TJ09-B provides great expandability.
  • newegg Excellent Cooling One 120mm exhaust rear fan and top vents provide superior cooling performance; one 120mm front HDD fan slot and two 120mm fan slots are featured for adding more fans to enhance the system cooling; a 120mm mid fan and brand new mid-section air duct optimize graphics card and CPU cooling, so you can boost the most stunning gaming performance with a cool system.
  • newegg Convenient Top I/O Panel The SILVERSTONE TJ09-B features a convenient top I/O panel for easy access to two USB 2.0 ports, one IEEE 1394 port and two audio ports.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Like A Grand Piano

Pros: Extremely flexible, tons of options, and very well thought out. The finish is gorgeous. Stays cool, very quiet.

Cons: Running cables to the hard drive is a little bit odd, but it works.

Other Thoughts: I mounted an ASUS KGPE-D16 in this case with no problems. Two screws don't line up with this SSI EEB board, but once you have a PCI-Express card in, the motherboard will fit like a glove.

I was surprised by how large the case is, but that means it has lots of air flow, and it's easy to work with. Just don't plan on carrying it down the street by yourself. ;) Despite the size, it looks really good, so you won't mind.

Mine shipped by ground from California and took a week longer than the rest of the parts to arrive - but it was worth the wait.

5 out of 5 eggsI LOVE THIS CASE!!

Pros: + Beautiful Finish
+ Elegant Look
+ Power Supply goes on the bottom.
+ Great Design

Cons: + Extremely Heavy
+ kind of pricey.. :-/ (well worth it however!)

Other Thoughts: i have the window version of this case!..
I have never ever had better customer support with a company in my life!! i called because my power switch stopped working and they answered right away no questions and he told me to provide with an address and now a new one is in the mail on its way!!

if you are going to buy a case id recommend this case over any other brand cases (cases ive built with.. Lian Li; Thermaltake; Rosewood)...

4 out of 5 eggsGood Case

Pros: I purchsed this case in 2008 and have enjoyed it.
Great airflow with added fans. Love the black finish.

Cons: I had problems with top popup firewire port cutting out uploading video files. I thought it was the MOB and just ran cable to back.
After changing MOB have the same problem so it must be bad top aux port on the case. I would still get the case. A dust filter for the middle air intake fan would be nice.

Other Thoughts: The large size does mean you need long cables to the drives. I currently have 2x2TB, 2x1TB WD drives and one 300GB raptor drive.
I added a fan for the drives and one topside. Ran ASUS P5E64 WS motherboard doing Adobe Premiere, VMware... Everything cool. Currently upgraded to Asus P6X58D_E.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for using a SilverStone! We have recently released an air filter with built-in magnets that will allow you to attach it to the middle air intake fan. The product name is FF141 and you can find it on Newegg at the following link:

5 out of 5 eggsBest Case I ever Bought

Pros: This Case is well build and has excellent design, simply the best case design. It has excellant airflow, plenty of room. It Has 6 Hard drives Bays that r removable. I added 3 extra Scythe DFS123812-3000 "ULTRA KAZE" 120 x 38 mm Case Fan and my system stays cool. This case is expensive but worth every penny. i would highly recommend this case.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: The quality of this case is great, others have mentioned the flimsy-ness of the side panels but that is just the lighness of the aluminum. The removable motherboard tray works great for i7 boards and cooling is excellent.

Cons: Hard drive bay cooling options could have been better as the the two hard drive racks only have the one fan which is an optional add-on purchase and really doesn't have anywhere to flow air if the drive bays are full, but no heat issues yet.

Other Thoughts: I have had several Antec mid-range cases in the past but this is a new world of quality, and the size is great for a person like me that likes to swap parts alot as this case gives all options.

5 out of 5 eggsLovely Case

Pros: Lots of room, and mounting for fans. the finish paint is elegant yet not to glossy. side window is plain. the dvd bay stealth DIY was easy with just a couple of cut on the side.
i just loved this case and i think i wont be replacing it for a long long time.

Cons: to little space on the back side of mobo, it would have been neat if they just givin it a little room to hide all the cables, and ofcourse the prize was a killer too.

Other Thoughts: this case is for keeps....

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Nice, sleek design, plenty of room for expansion. I have 3 hard drives in there with room for more, lots of slots for dvd/blu-ray players, nice ventilation with mesh on top and sides, nice big built in fans in the case that do not compromise too much space.

Cons: I couldn't figure out where to run the cables running to the hard drives, and they were kind of getting smashed a little (and once disconnected in the effort) when i went to put the case back together. finally got it fixed

Other Thoughts: overall it is a nice case with good expansion room. i think it is slightly longer than most cases of its size, but it allows for more fans and gives a little more breathing room. I like it

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case but not so great value

Pros: Lots of room, easy access to components, clever and aesthetically pleasing case design, provisions for USB, firewire, and audio (intel HD/AC97 and mic) headers, attention to detail in design.

Cons: Flimsy side panels, thin alunimum sheets used for top and bottom, inconsistent construction quality, high price for what you get.

Other Thoughts: It's a very functional case. Lots of room to work with. Clever features that make getting parts in and out easier than other cases.

But for the money you pay, the case has surprisingly thin and flimsy sidepanels. Prone to denting. The top and bottom of the chassis are formed from stamped alunimum the same thickess as the sidepanels. Also prone to denting.

You could consider the flimsiness to be a feature to save weight since the sidepanels aren't load bearing or key to the case's structural integrity, but that's just cutting corners. If you want to save weight, go all the way and buy smaller case to begin with, don't go half way with a case that's already big and hard to transport.

The case also had some light scratches/smudges from handling at the factory. The top air vent grill was indented in areas where it was fastened to the case. This is nit-picking, but for the money you pay, you deserve the right to.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for purchasing a SilverStone and for the feedbacks. The top and bottom panels for TJ09 are constructed out of 2.0mm thick aluminum, which is the same as with other parts of the main chassis. The side panels are 1.0mm thick aluminum with edge folding.

5 out of 5 eggsShould have wrote this long ago

Pros: These pictures do not do it justice. VERY solid case, absolutely NO plastic anywhere. Enough room for almost any build. Slide out MB tray. The list goes on. Free of the juvenile flash most case manufacturers seem to think we want.

Cons: The MB area cooling solution is a bit unbalanced, but if you keep the two top fans blowing out at reduced speeds it will work well. There is no CPU side fan as mentioned elsewhere, but it's a simple mod as they go, if you really need one.

Other Thoughts: I payed more for this case some time ago, and it's been worth it. You'll never find a DVD drive that will truly match it though. Do a search for how to stealth a drive, of check for after-market drive bezels. Silverstone makes this in silver and also makes them with side windows.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply beautiful

Pros: This is quite possibly the best case I have ever owned. The fit and finish is second to none. The ease of installation alone is worth the price on this case. The unique cooling solution really helps with the hot running 8800gt in it. The removable motherboard tray is thickenough it could be used to bludgeon someone to death with and it would probably not be worse the wear. There is honestly not a single thing about this case that I can take issue with.

If you can afford this case buy it.

Cons: None you get what you pay for, and in this case (no pun intended) the best computer case I have had the pleasure of building into.

Other Thoughts: Cable management can be tricky to do especially if you did not get a modular PSU. It is still doable just have to get creative with the routing.
