Silverstone's SG05B is an evolution of the original SUGO series chassis designed for mini-ITX platforms. More than this; you can also fit one of today's high powered video cards (up to 9" length) into this mini-ITX SFF chassis. By the included 80 Plus certified SFX 300W power supply, each nerve of your system will be activated.
Different from other mini-ITX cases, this Silverstone case features a large 120mm fan with golf blades, so you can keep all your devices in cool and quiet. The front I/O panel gives you easy access to two USB 2.0 ports and two audio jacks. Inside, you can install a slim optical drive, a standard 3.5" drive and a 2.5" notebook hard drive for great expansion. This sleek case gives you maximum performance at a minimal price!

Evil little box
- Pros: Rnough room for a 2 slot gpu and good size cpu heatsink w/ fan. Supports 1 x3.5" and 1 x2.5" hdd, good ventilation in the right places. Still a bit of room for modding.
120mm fan... Teeeny tiny case.
- Cons: It would be nice to have a slightly larger PSU...
Not necessarily a full ATX..just higher output. Newegg sells a compatable Seasonic 350w and you can search the net for a 400w (modular) SFF/SFX PSU called a SilenX- Ixtrema Micro 400w 14dBa PPFC SFX PSU. seen 'em between $70 & $130 Newegg should carry them. 300w onboard is a stretch on larger 2 slot cards.
- Other Thoughts: Would have been nice to have a full size opti bay, but this thing is as small as it can go...I'm sure there will be some kinda revision.
Window case would be sweet w/ enough ventilation. PEOPLE!!! This is not a typical HTPC or a full tower. Stop comparing it as such. This thing s a beast with the right gear. Manufacturer Response:Thank you very much for your feedbacks. Regarding your concern with SG05’s PSU, this unit was selected and tuned by SilverStone engineers for improved quietness and performance (300W continuous power at 50C). It has dedicated +12V rail for graphics card (16A, peak 19A) to provide more than enough power for any 9" long dual slot graphics cards. We actually do not recommend using off the shelf SFX PSUs at this time as they may not be designed to work well in the SG05 environment as we have done with the included unit. As a reference, here is a list of components used in the SG05 development system: Intel Core 2 Quad 9550 95W CPU MSI IM-Q35 DO Industrial Mini-ITX motherboard Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C5DX DDR2 memory *AMD Radeon HD4850 graphics card* WD Raptor 150GB + VelociRaptor 300GB 10,000rpm hard drives Slim Blu-ray drive *The Radeon HD4850 is currently the highest powered card that can fit inside the SG05 (more than NVIDIA GTS 250, which is a dual slot design.)
Beware
- Pros: Size, I guess. But, it seems it could have easily been smaller.
- Cons: The convenience of a case this small is offset by it's noise level. It's not that it's terribly loud, it's just too loud to place on your desk - which for me was the whole point of the thing.
The amount of wire coming from the PSU is ridiculous considering the PSU was designed specifically for this case. Paint job!!!!!!! Paint job!!!!!!! Paint job!!!!!!! Customer service
- Other Thoughts: Be very careful if using isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) to clean or prep for thermal paste. It will mar the front panel VERY quickly. Silverstone's position on this is, and I quote, "Since some materials do not react well with some chemical liquids, the user has to inform hisself if the usage is harmless.
Because that did not happened, we are not able to offer warranty in such kind of problem." We are to ignore the fact that this is THIER product and THEY fail to warn of the dangers of using a common household substance that is commonly used when assembling a computer. How the customer is supposed to 'inform hisself' with no information coming from Silverstone is a mystery. After a volley of emails over a two week period, Silverstone oh so graciously offered to sell me a replacement part. At this point, I think I'll just paint the thing myself (I know I can do a better job) and cover up their logo. If someone asks who makes the case, I'll answer, "You really don't want to know."

Very Nice SFF
- Pros: Small
Excellent design Decent ventilation
- Cons: Fans are somewhat loud
- Other Thoughts: Love this box. Although the fans are a bit loud, it's not terribly annoying, although I don't know if I'd build a HTPC around this case for that fact alone (I like very quiet machines for home theater). There are a few sharp edges, but nothing beyond the ordinary and far less than cheaper boxes. Also, you kind of have to disassemble most of the case to install the components (also no surprise). I'm running an E6700 atm but am going to replace it with a Q9550S shortly so I'll update my review at that time. Using a new ATI5770 video card and so far, the framerates are VERY good. The box currently has no internal hard disks as it's my desire to use the eSATA port for booting different operating systems, and so far, that plan is working flawlessly. Installing components generally means disassembling the entire case, but that's like 10 screws at most so it's not really a big deal. The case is very tight, but extremely well designed. Power button is a "tad" annoying, but oh well.
Second time around with this
- Pros: Small, quiet, comes with a power supply, Fairly easy to work with. Still doesn't come with a Slim Sata adapter.
- Cons: Don't even bother with a 3.5inch hard drive. If you are building a new computer just buy a 2.5 inch and save yourself the hassle of trying to install the 3.5.
- Other Thoughts: If you plan on buying a new power supply make sure you buy one that is micro-atx and has these dimensions 5”(W) x 2.5”(H) x 4.75”(D), any larger will not fit in the case. Also it says can fit up to 9 inch graphics card, but It can fit up to about 10.3 inch graphics cards as long as the power is on the side, and up to 9.5 if the power is on the back of the card.
Best Small case ever
- Pros: 300w power supply (truely enough for pretty much everything you will ever do in a case this small)
2X Full size PCI expansion for dual slot gfx cards small and lite
Comes with a IDE adapter for slim cd drives
Super quiet
- Cons: The back of the case is a bit flimsy and the overall construction is a bit thin but still sturdy enough.
The slim cd drive is a huge pain to install. Doesnt come with slim sata adapter.
- Other Thoughts: I used this case for a friends computer, best small case I have ever used. Use a laptop drive instead of a desktop drive to keep it quiet and lite unless you truely need disk space.
Keep in mind that this has 1 3.5 inch bay and 1 2.5 inch bay, so raiding the drives isnt that great of a possiblity.
