The Grandia GD04 is an incredible product that combines years of SilverStone expertise in SFF (Small form factor) and HTPC (Home Theater Personal Computer) chassis design. It has a beautifully proportioned exterior and powerful thermal capability that rivals the best tower chassis.
From the front, the GD04 is shaped similarly to most home theater components, but the depth was reduced to a mere 323mm. This overall size of 21.5 liters in volume actually makes the case one liter smaller than SilverStone’s own Micro-ATX Sugo cases! Even though GD04’s diminutive size allows it to easily integrate into any home theater cabinet, it can still accommodate an impressive list of standard components such as 5.25” optical drive, two 3.5” hard drives, a 2.5” SSD, a standard ATX power supply, and two high-end graphics cards up to 11 inches. Cooling duty in the GD04 is handled by three filtered 120mm fans designed with the same positive air pressure as the Fortress FT01, this enables class-leading cooling efficiency, reduced dust buildup, and silent operation.
To make installation simpler, there is even enough space for cable management to be easily accomplished without the need for short cabled or modular power supply. Coupled with special attention given to the order of installation, any user can quickly assemble or upgrade the GD04 and devote more time to enjoying a personalized digital life with an HTPC.

Pros: Keep in mind this is my first HTPC build, this case is easy to work with. Solid construction and easy to understand instructions. The 3 fans ARE quiet. Roomy inside for people with large thumbs like me. Still fits on my BIG SCREEN stand.
Cons: After assembly I pushed the power button on several times during "test" boots. After the 5th time, the push button collapsed inside the case. This required me to removed DVD drive to "repair" the pwr button and to brief family to "go gentle" with pwr switch. The locking mechanism for the pwr/reset buttons are cheap....too bad otherwise would have received 5 stars.
Other Thoughts: HTPC Gigabyte GA-MA785GMTUD2H;AMD Phenom II x4 905e Deneb 2.5GHz@65W;WD Black Caviar 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB cache;OCZ550FTY modular pwr supply;G.SKILL 4GB(2GBx2);Sony DVD burner;Windows 7 Professional 64 bit OEM lisc.

It Fits My TV Stand!!!
Reviewed By: on 12/19/2009

Pros: This is my 2nd Silverstone HTPC Case and I am extremely happy with both. I started looking for a 2nd HTPC case for our living room TV, but had a hard time finding a case that would fit my TV stand...depth was the biggest problem. This was one of the few cases that met most of my needs in terms of what components I needed to put in the PC AND would fit in the darn TV cabinet. Silverstone obviously put alot of thought into this case and the details are outstanding. I paired this case with the Silverstone NT01-E heatsink. You can use a stock cooler, but most aftermarket heatsinks won't fit if you decide to have a DVD / Blu-ray drive. You can use the NT01-E without fans, but it's performance ends up kind of sucking...but then again, it's a HTPC, so heats not as big of a factor...I did however put 2 60mm SilenX fans in and the heatsink works like a champ. 2 3.5" drives fit great. You can mount your PSU upside down as well to draw cool air in from the bottom of the case. Very Cool!!
Cons: I really wanted a case that could do ATX as well as mATX like the other Silverstone HTPC case I have. This case is limited to mATX boards so your MB options are limited. The case is spec'd for 10.5" long cards so you could fit a current gen GPU in there...I'm just using onboard video at the moment since all I need is to able to play 1080p mkv files. Since everything fits pretty tight (not the most spacious case...but atleast it fits nicely with my other home theater components), I'm gonna guess putting in a long vid card will make things pretty challenging to get everything together.
Other Thoughts: Other reviewers have recommended a modular PSU. That definitely may help, especially if you've got more than onboard stuff going on (i.e. dedicated GPU, sound card, etc.)...but I ended up using a non-modular PSU and it wasn't a big deal at all!
Most important thing to consider here is the CPU heatsink. Make sure you make the right choice if you're going non-stock.
Do a google search for ksstudios for a nice review with lots of install pictures...this definitely helped me make a decision on this case.

Pros: This is a beautiful case for the price and you can fit a reasonable amount of stuff in it. The fact that it isn't very deep makes it much easier to fit in a living room environment.
Cons: The size means that some things are a bit cramped. The fans are not Scythe level quiet.
Other Thoughts: I have a simple build with a G45 motherboard, an E8400, 4Gb RAM, a 1.5Tb Samsung F2 and a Seasonic 430 PSU (modular PSU is best in a case where there isn't a lot of excess room to unused cables).
This is an excellent an very powerful HTPC. I did find the fans a little noisy (I am very picky about this, you are not supposed to be able to hear that the PC is on even a foot away), so I slowed them down with Zalman controllers to just above stalling. They are now inaudible and there is still plenty of cooling.

Phenomenal HTPC Case
Reviewed By: Brian on 1/21/2010
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Only 13" Deep! Great Internal Layout, Takes Conventional Components, Quiet, Positive Airflow Cooling
Cons: Limited CPU Cooler Options, Doesn't Support Optical Drives That Have Full-Width Bezels (e.g. some LG Models)
Other Thoughts: This case makes the perfect foundation for a powerful, expandable HTPC, as it doesn't take up much more space than a typical receiver. It has quiet, powerful fans, excellent airflow, ample room inside for drives and expansion cards, and a unique layout that makes it easy to build a nice looking system with a minimum of fuss.
One limitation to be aware of is the 70MM height limitation on the CPU fan (if you're using an optical drive.) The stock cooler on my Pentium E6500 is plenty quiet, so this was a non-issue for me. If you have heavier duty cooling needs, look into the Silverstone NT01-E.
This case, an E6500 processor, Intel DG45ID motherboard, a Blu-Ray or DVD-RW Drive, 4GB of PC6400 RAM, a 500GB WD Caviar Black drive and an i-rocks wireless keyboard/mouse make a phenomenal budget HTPC combo. Upgrade to the ATI 5000 series card of your choice to add bitstream audio and an appropriate level of gaming graphics when your budget alows.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: great form factor lots of cooling fans looks great easy to work on good instructions
Cons: Not the case for you if you want more than 2 hard drives
Other Thoughts: I used this for my first HTPC build and was extremely pleased at the quality and fit of this case. The key item for me was that it was not too deep. Many of the other cases are 16 inches deep which was too much for my space.
