Combining two of SilverStone's most distinctive computer chassis breakthroughs - the unibody construction of the Temjin TJ07, introduced in 2005, and the 90-degrees rotated motherboard mount of the RAVEN RV01 from 2008 - the Fortress FT02 advances both chassis construction and thermodynamics in a dynamic, streamlined design.

With the Fortress FT02, SilverStone engineers have combined the rigidity of unibody construction with the unparalleled cooling layout of the RAVEN chassis, adding a hot-swappable hard drive cage and an acoustically padded interior for maximum versatility. The result is increased structural strength, increased storage capacity, and whisper-quiet operation. Available in black and silver colors, its elegant outer shell is perfectly accentuated by the U-shaped unibody aluminum frame that not only provides unique styling, but also functional purpose.

The bottom gap from the frame to the main body actually serves as the main air intake area for its three massive 180mm fans, making it even suitable for use on carpeted surfaces. For professionals and enthusiasts looking to build a silent workstation or gaming machine with maximum performance, there is no better than the SilverStone Fortress FT02.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I didnt really know what I was getting. IT came highly recommend and now I know why. This case is huge and it is amazing. Fits way more then I can imagine. Old case didnt let me put in two video cards with 6 hard drives because of lack of space. Not in this case.

Cons: I lost my watch in this thing. Its so big, I guess i'll have to buy a new watch.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case - model updated

Pros: First off, this case has been updated. These updates aren't in the Newegg specs, and it was a pleasant surprise when I unboxed the case. The model I received was updated to include USB 3.0 in the front panel. It also was updated with the AP181 Air Penetrator fans, and a bracket for mounting an SSD on the side of the 5.25" bays.

It's a really sturdy, high quality case, with some pretty quiet and strong fans. I get great air flow, and I love the vertical design aesthetics. I have this case sitting on top of my desk, and I can feel a breeze down by my feet. You will hear the AP181s when you flip them to high, but my GTX 680 blower is much louder at 80%. The internal padding helps a lot with the noise. I really like the filters, and I hope these make my case relatively dust free.

Mobo installation went without a hitch.

A few specs that aren't listed at Newegg: fits up to 12.2" expansion cards, can fit EATX (12x11), the bottom intake fans and the PSU intake have air fi

Cons: Be careful about installing a 120 radiator in the roof. It might not fit. My Corsair H60 radiator fits right up against the expansion slots.

I wish they would have included an 8th expansion slot.

Installing the PSU was a pain in the rear, and the velcro strap that Silverstone provides did not aid in its installation. I have a Seasonic x1250. I am a little worried about the long term sturdiness of the plastic footie that holds the bottom of the PSU.

You need to screw your hdd to the hdd tray even if you want to use the hotswap bay. Using screws is not my idea of hot swapping.

Other Thoughts: This is a great case, and Silverstone's attention to quality and added details will keep your system clean, cool, and nice to view.

A modular power supply really makes this case look nice. If I had my old power supply, wires would be all up in the case without a lot of places to hide them. It would be really crowded.

If you want a really sharp case with a classic, simple appearance that will keep your expensive parts in good condition, pick this one. I really like its aesthetics over some of the other more gaudy cases. A good comparison would be a black Mercedes with turbo and a supped up Honda with candy paint, spinning rims, a big spoiler, and a loud exhaust. Both are probably fast, but I prefer the simple elegance and class of the FT02.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful case

Pros: Great build quality and finish. Great cooling, very quiet with fans on low. When fans are high, can feel the air 5 feet above the case. Fairly easy install. Beautiful to look at (for me anyway)

Cons: The cpu cutout on the mb backplate doesn't fit with my 1155 aftermarket cooler...it seems the placement is off a bit for that board? Other than that, the case fits my bill perfectly.

Other Thoughts: Just know there are only 7 expansion slots. Even if you wanted to get 3 video cards in there, I don't know if you could because the last expansion slot is very close to the optical bays, leading to possible conflicts with those super high end setups. I knew this ahead of time and have no plan for 3+ video cards. 1 is enough for me.

5 out of 5 eggsBAUHAUS Design...

Pros: Case is a statement of design excellence as witnessed by the many positive reviews. Given its spaciousness, superb tolerances and heft it simply reeks of quality and is well worth the steep asking price.

You will NOT regret having purchased this case - HIGHLY recommended!

Cons: Only one! As mentioned by previous reviewers, the back of the motherboard plate could use and additional quarter inch of room to facilitate easier cable management.

Other Thoughts: I bought this case from a source other than NEWEGG, it was, matter of fact a local store that (unbelievably) beat NEWEGG's price - a rarity indeed.

5 out of 5 eggsMy favorite case

Pros: Great layout, plenty of room, easy to work in, great thermal design, extremely solid feel, quiet and includes built in sound baffles - an all around terrific case and it looks sweet to boot.

Cons: None so far (bought it in January of 2011.)

Other Thoughts: I would not hesitate to recommend this case to anyone who wants a solid, well made case. Well worth the money. If you are going to buy a high end mother board, CPU, RAM, et cetera - put in a case that is worthy of the parts and will show it off well. :)

5 out of 5 eggsWHATS NOT TO LOVE

Pros: Fan freaking-tastic case. Cable management is superb, anyone saying otherwise is doing it wrong. So many places to store cables its ridiculous. The airflow is wonderful. Arrived in excellent condition

Cons: Zip

I cant use Oh my "divine being" (replaces G)

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding design but minor execution glitches

Pros: Really innovative airflow design keeps my 6 core Xeon below 36C even at load.

Solidly built and the aluminum outer edge keeps the case and the fans 1" above the floor, reducing dust intake. Comes fully assembled and looks like a tank.

I bought one of these for myself and a second a few months later to build a PC for someone else. Solid case well worth the price and about as good as one can do with aircooling from all the online reviews I found.

Cons: One minor glitch, but irritating in a $250 case: one of the 180mm fans made an incredible racket. The fan was touching the bottom rubber bracket. I had to add a thin rubber washer to stop the noise.

Just adding 3mm more clearance between the fan and the bracket would avoid this problem. It's not good enough to say the fan can go back under warranty: that's a huge hassle that one
can avoid by adding the rubber spacers in this $250 case.

Other Thoughts: Silverstone did a great job in two key areas:
1. improved airflow (bottom to top)
2. reducing dust intake by raising the case above an aluminum frame

I felt they could have gone one step further: with the motherboard rotated 90 degrees, all the USB ports are at the top of the case. Adding a simple flip cover to the top would have made them all easily accessible, a big improvement over having just 2 at the front.

5 out of 5 eggsRevolutionary

Pros: Amazingly quiet. Fantastic airflow. Tough. Quality build. It looks and feels like something you have paid a good chunk of money to own.

Cons: It is HEAVY and bulky. Hard to carry this thing with only one arm. Add to that a lack of good grips.

Other Thoughts: Everything is sideways. Positives and negatives that go with that. Mostly, it seems positive. Amazing to me that Silverstone is the only company doing this.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat, once I replaced the missing parts

Pros: Great cooling, unique mobo mounting design that was annoying at first but once its built the form of the case provides top tier cooling and space. Sturdy, sleek, minimalistic design with strong side window.

Cons: Switch in the Power button was missing a piece (The tiny copper circular piece in the middle of the switch) . 2 hours in a PC repair shop and half the price of the case itself later, they replaced it. The reason it took so long was because the switch was of a proprietary design, which took some cleverness to mimic. I guess I could have RMAd the case, but I wasnt going to lose the week of shipping and the 6 hours I invested putting all the parts together (First build). Overall this was the only major headache of my build, which would've ran perfect from first boot otherwise, not to mention another chunk out of my wallet, and im disappointed because I thought Silverstone was a reliable brand. Unless they want to reimburse me the $120 lost from the PC repair shop (This is my first build, I'd of had no idea how to handle a manufacturer issue like this) I think Ill be recommending the Corsair 800D over this to my friends.

Other Thoughts: In case you didnt know, the motherboard is mounted 90 degrees clockwise in this case, the video cards are mounted vertically, and the SSD bracket is on the side of the DVD drive slots. also, the I/O port is on the top, which may seem dumb at first but when you have a 60 lb machine up against a wall removing the top panel is much easier then moving the whole machine to reach the back. Also reserves room in the back for PSU fan.
