3 out of 5 eggsIssues, so many issues

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: Lots of small interesting design features that help out.
Easy to open as well as close
Some awesome case parts included

Cons: Chassis is extremely weak when taken apart while building in it.
Non standard motherboard screws allow motherboard to move around.

Other Thoughts: I should just stayed with the ML06, but Newegg doesn't carry it anymore ( WHY! )

5 out of 5 eggsSFF is my Game

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: The best for HTPC did have to install dual Laptop disk drives but that is expected with a SFF case. Could have installed 4 HDD but that would increase weight. Only problem was power. Added tons of weight and took up 1/3 of the case. Industry needs a super small high power PSU. Size is perfect where smaller gets into garbage MB Larger gets into junk size

Cons: HTPC for the living room or entertainment room is the best choice. Little heavy when you install a PS and a few HDD. I had to to with Laptop disk drives to get 2 in and had to get a adapter for both drives. Taped the drive and power on leds to prevent them from view. I do like the design better than the new version. Ease of access is more important the led brightness.

Other Thoughts: I5 Ivy 2 HDD 2 laptop drives make this case smaller and faster than any commercially available HTPC out there @ 1/5 the cost.

2 out of 5 eggsSilverstone BL03

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: It is a "lovely" case your wife will not object to. Great airflow. 4 x 80mm AC PWM fans are outstanding! Yes, it's sleek. That's all folks...

Cons: Where do I start? I spent a great deal of time researching HTPC cases. Waste of time on this one though no one seems to say how difficult it is to build - PRINCIPALLY because the idiot(s) who designed it made all cables 18" in length when they needed only around 9" give or take. This is a Micro case not a freaking ATX tower! Got that? I doubt the ML04 is much different.
Take a GOOD look at the pics - I didn't. Where and how do you cram all those cables inside? Not counting the cabling from the PSU - ATX + Power rails...
It turned into an ordeal... I also take issue with HDD/SSD placement which is BELOW the BRD/DVD player. There is very little room for the cabling without removing oh, say around 3ln ft for the psu - repositioning the SATA power connectors... and it's still unbelievably cramped. i have not decided on shortening the 24 pin cable... YET... that's a problem of the Seasonic ET 300W 80+ down draft unit stuffed into this case, but it's not their fault. Seasonic could very well make a PSU designed for this case - but that's obviously too much trouble - like shortening the .cables...
Here's a mind blower for you... they DO NOT include the little beeper speaker. Hey - it's what buck and a half... I had one laying around...

Other Thoughts: Asus F2A85M, A10 5800K, 2 x 4 GSkill 1866 GBXL
Scythe Shuriken (great cooler), Asus 12B1ST BRD,
Asus DX PCIe sound - terrific, 2x WD Blue 10EZEX,
Crucial M4-64GB SSD, Seasonic SS300ET 80+ PSU and
4x AC 80mm PWM case fans daisy chained. Oh yeah... a 4port back panel USB 2 for that extra slot.

I have built 2 other units using IWBL and believe me it's so much easier than this one. Wham bam, thank you ma'am.

I guess it's the result of over thinking a case rather than using one I know is a ton easier to build. I will NEVER use this case again. Think twice.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet case. Not any room for niceties.

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: Built an HTPC to play PC games on a new UHD Tv. Looks awesome. I put in an AMD APU (A10 7850K).

Silverstone *modular* ATX PSU has its cables smashed against the drive cage.

Essentially there is no room for a case fan of any kind, low-profile GPU or other nicety. But I wanted it small! I mean *maybe* I could fit them in but then I'd have no room for heat dispersion.

It may have been nice to make it a wee bit bigger. It was either this little guy or other cases much bigger.

Cons: I expected a case fan since I've never bought a case without one before. I'm not sure there would have been room for it anyway.

Drive casing can hold 4 2.5 inch drives. Does anyone need that in an HTPC? I would have preferred getting some breathing room in the case back instead.

There is a slot for a slim optical drive, but... not really. It would be an eight of an inch above the CPU fan and you gotta worry about heat a little bit!

The wires for the external buttons, lights, and USB were very long. Once they are stuffed in, I don't have room to stuff a couple of small fans along the side vents either. Probably. Just very small.

But so far it looks great! And it is the only case even trying to play in this form factor!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case for HTPC

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: Built a nice HTPC with this case.

Silverston ML03B case
AMD AM1 Athlon 5350 APU
MSI AM1M mobo
Mushkin ECO2 60GB SSD
Antec 450 80+ Bronze
Lite-On DVD drive

There a decent amount off room for parts and cooling so I'm a happy camper.

Cons: Only complaint is the paint seems to chip off easy around the cover screws, but not bad so not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: I would buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsPlenty of room, but a fair amount of clutter

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: The size is perfect. It's the same width as my other A/V components and shallow enough to fit on an Ikea shelf. Has plenty of expansion slots to accommodate half-height expansion cards (video, usb). Front facing USB 3.0 is great for wireless keyboard and game controller from the couch. Price is good.

Cons: It's slightly flimsy while you're installing everything especially if the PSU isn't installed. The space premium also means you'll need to route all of the PSU cables around any of the expansion cards you install. Because this isn't intended as a portable unit though none of this matters once it's in place.

The one thing I actually take eggs off for is the length of the provided cabling. They've included the same components as they do with their full-sized tower cases and the cables are long enough to plug into the next computer over. This makes managing them very tedious. So you get -1/2 egg, rounded up.

Other Thoughts: While technically you can fit a full-size PSU you'll be much more comfortable with an SFX unit if you'll be wanting any sort of optical drive in the thing.

I should mention that to optimize the mounting depth you'll want to get right-angled HDMI and power cables.

Wouldn't mind seeing SilverStoneTek provide extra-short fan splitter cable to drive the four 80mm fans this case can hold. I've got four Noctua fans and there are wire bundles everywhere even after management due to the short runs afforded/required by the size of the case. I know they can do this because they sell all sorts of other products like that.

1 out of 5 eggsOverpriced

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: This will hold a regular-sized power supply. Low profile.

Cons: Paint chips when a screw dropped from 3" hits the top of the case. Flimsy build. The metal used feels to be several millimeters thinner than what could be considered standard. The door to the 5.25" bay is loose when installed. The ridged design of the plastic front is reminiscent of an 80s "hologram" card. A metal bar is included to assist in reinforcing the case. It stretches across the middle top. Yes, they included a metal bar because that was cheaper than using aluminum for the entire case that would have only needed to be several millimeters thicker to provide a sturdier frame.

Other Thoughts: Silverstone is overpriced and it is ridiculous to charge $65 for a case that cost a fraction of that. They chose to maximize their profit margin over quality.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case but needs a few tweaks.

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: Awesome form factor! I used a mATX board and it went in with no problems!

Great cable routing management for a case this size. Comes with big bundle ties to keep everything together.

Very flexible HDD/SSD placements.

Cons: Awesome form factor! My hands are too big to handle anything in the case without dropping it!

Useless SSD bracket. It goes over the front I/O panel and you cannot screw in the SSD or HDD without custom screws. The ones supplied just don't cut it.

Other Thoughts: Great for my new Steam stream box / HTPC. It fits under my TV but over my receiver perfectly. Looks awesome right now.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: Very nice aesthetics. Looks right at home in a TV cabinet or entertainment center. Mounts for 4 cooling fans is a plus too. It also has several places to tie extra cables to keep them out of the way (and they give you some ties too).

Cons: Cooling fans are about the only thing there's plenty of space for. It's pretty cramped in there. Not much space for an aftermarket CPU cooler. The inside of the front plate had some extra flash or something from a weld that made it very difficult to get all four fans in place.

Other Thoughts: Pay close attention to the size of your components especially if you want an optical drive. Mine has about 1" between it and the PSU; barely enough room for the cables. Given the tight space I highly recommend going for all 4 fans.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

This review is from: SILVERSTONE Black Aluminum skin reinforced plastic front panel, 0.8mm SECC body MILO Series ML03B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

Pros: Sturdy solid design. Nice arrangement of mounting bays allowing multiple HDDs to be installed. Allows for use of full sized ATX PSU in a case that easily fits into an entertainment center. Despite the small form factor there is ample room, especially with a micro-ATX motherboard. Anti-vibration grommets for mounting HDDs. Looks like a piece of AV equipment.

Cons: One of the screw holes for the power supply was slightly off. I managed to get a screw in but I was rather difficult to do without cross threading.

Other Thoughts: If you want a quality HTPC case without spending a lot of money this is your best bet.
