The RAVEN RV02-E is an evolution of the original RV02 case that aims to provide even more accessible performance and utility. Making a debut for the first time in a tower chassis, SilverStone’s own “Air Penetrator” 180mm fans are included in the RV02-E for improved air intake efficiency and flexibility. The fan frame of the Air Penetrator fans provide enough fan blade protection and increased air focusing ability that they no longer require installation of fan grille. Hot-swappable hard drive cage was also implemented to facilitate installation at the expense of losing the 8th expansion slot. However, all other features are intact such as fully filtered intake system, 90 degree motherboard mounting, all black interior, liquid cooling support, and fan speed switches. For enthusiasts not looking to use more than two or three graphics cards, the RV02-E should be a great alternative to the fantastic original RV02.

  • newegg Revolutionary 90-Degree Motherboard Mounting Design With the innovative 90-degree motherboard mounting design, the Silverstone Raven RV02W-EW promotes more logical heat dissipation for high-end graphics cards and makes rear connectors available on the top of the case for easy access.
  • newegg Superior Cooling Performance Three bottom 180mm Air Penetrator fans and one top 120mm exhaust fan create unprecedented positive pressure and stack effect cooling. The speed of Air Penetrator fans can also be adjusted between 700rpm and 1200rpm according to your preference for cooling or quietness.
  • newegg Spacious Interior & Highly Flexible Drive Storage Options The Silverstone Raven RV02W-EW features 5x 5.25" external drive bays, 5x 3.5" hot-swappable drive bays, one 2.5" SSD bay and 7 expansion slots for excellent expandability. It also supports 11” wide ATX motherboards and liquid cooling.
  • newegg CPU Backplate Cutout The CPU backplate opening allows easy heatsink installation and removal.
  • newegg Transparent Side Panel Window The Silverstone Raven RV02W-EW’s transparent side panel window provides a direct view of your inner components.
  • newegg Convenient Top I/O Panel The top I/O panel enables easy access to two USB 2.0, audio and mic ports.

5 out of 5 eggsfantastic

Pros: one of the best air cooling cases around
lots of room
90 degree mobo!
sweet looking case!
pretty good for cable management

Cons: due to the fact that the motherboard is shifted, you cant really get full access to the cpu heatsink from the back since half of it is least with my motherboard. not a huge deal or anything, just throwing that out there as a disclaimer.

Other Thoughts: my build for this case

GB z68x ud-5 b3
i5 2500k
corsair force gt 120gb ssd
western digital CB 2TB hdd
noctua nh-d14 (fits perfectly)
g-skill ripjaws 16gb @1600
evga gtx 580
corsair ax1200 psu

no heating issues what so ever. i ended up buying this case from a different site as this one did not have this model at the time but i highly recommend if you want air can water cool but its not really the best case for that, if you want water cooling there are better options. for the time being i prefer air cooling since i do minimal overclocking.

2 out of 5 eggsBad fans

Pros: Good cooling and easy install.

Cons: The front and middle 180mm fans won't spin because the blades catch on the housing. Silverstone won't return emails for RMA. I called and they said to email them again. If they don't respond I'll have to return it or get a refund.

Other Thoughts: Buy retail so you can return it when it doesn't work. Sending back a 30lb case isn't fun nor cheap.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Efficient design for good cooling and low sound.

Cons: Fit and finish is less than I expected. The top panel bows outward on both sides because the grill tension, so it looks like the top is too big for the width of the case. The paint finish isn't uniform.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had bought the FT02 instead. I'll use this one but regret buying it. I expected more from Silverstone.

5 out of 5 eggsRotated mobos rock

Pros: I actually bought this locally from a guy who was selling it for less than the black version of the RV-02. I actually dislike the white aesthetic, particularly since my BD-rom is black, but for $30 less than the black version I wasn't going to complain. I also thought about the FT-02, but the extra money doesn't have much marginal value, in my opinion.

The case is easy to build in, there are some decent cable management holes (not as good as the Corsair 800D, but then again that's a much bigger case), the filters are great, and the AP181 fans *really* seem to do their job properly. I like the HDD caddies, and Silverstone is nice enough to include 1 set of adapters so that you can put a 3.5" drive into a 5.25" bay. They also sell the FP55 accessory, of which I am currently using 1.

Cons: The AP181 fans are fragile, for sure, mostly because of the extremely tight tolerance between the blade and the integrated cover. I moved my case a few inches on the floor when the fans were running and two blades clacked around and broke. Nothing a little 2-part epoxy couldn't fix, though. The plastic used feels kind of brittle to the touch; not strong and flexible, like ABS or Delrin. C'est la vie.

The fan speed switches and filters are only accessible when the case is in a state of partial disassembly. For the switches, you need to take the cover off. For the filters, you additionally need to take the right side panel off. It's not the most convenient thing in the world.

The plastic on the front bezel and top cover is chintzy, and doesn't belong on a case in this price range. It's there for obvious reasons - it's far cheaper to fabricate the complex curves and slashes in plastic than it is in metal. But it's cheap and doesn't feel particularly sturdy.

Other Thoughts: I got this case mostly because of the SPCR review that gave it high marks for both cooling and quietness. The cooling is great, much better than my old TJ09. The cool air provided to my GTX 570 is definitely reflected in load temps. The quietness, well, that's another story. The AP181 fans are effective, but even at the slow setting, they're definitely audible. It's not a horrible sound, but it is noise all the same. If you need *silence* during your computer, I'd look elsewhere.

There's no HDD activity indicator. You just have to sort of guess when your disks are being accessed. Not a show stopper, for sure, but a weird thing to omit.

All in all, still a great case - I'm glad that I decided to "rotate my mobo." We should all have bumper stickers encouraging our fellow PC'ers to rotate their mobos too.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Sickest case ever!

Pros: Engineering, every category from visual design to the superior functional, and what should set a new benchmark for specs. 90 degree mount for the mobo with the 3 180mm silky smooth SS fans, all being drawn out by the 120mil on top. brilliant cord management, top tower mounted back mobo connects are so much better than having them on the back of your rig. BUY this without worry.

Cons: Not alot truly... case dimensions are unique, but not really a con. You do lose the 8th slot at the expense of that extra 180 fan, but really... who wouldnt do that trade?

Other Thoughts: This case would be ideal for a dream build using a max of 2 cards, in my opinion... simply because running a third makes things tight in there, and in all reality with 2 superclocked gtx 580's for example... you will NEVER need more than that for gaming

5 out of 5 eggsFollow up

Pros: Follow up to previous review, Just finished the build last night and sure enough 1 of the AP181's was dead, like previous reviewer said it just makes a light ticking noise every few seconds, sent RMA over to Silverstone and they said the replacement would be no problem. I'm sure it won't never heard any bad reviews on them, doesnt change my outlook on the case its still perfect.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Still happy

5 out of 5 eggsSilverstone RV02W-EW

Pros: Love this case. The quality and build are eggcellent!

Cons: One fan was making a clicking noise. I contacted Silverstone and they immediately sent me a spare fan, free of charge.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best case I've ever owned!

Pros: -Gorgeous - the pictures don't do it justice
-Quiet - With the fans on low, you can barely hear it
-Room for a radiator on the bottom of the case (brackets included with case)
-Case lighting is extremely easy to do
-Extremly easy to work inside, and cables are super-easy to hide
-The coolest temps I've ever had in a case (verified using speedfan and tested with prime95)
-Fixed the annoying issues from the first version of the raven02. The hard drive bays are now accessible by removing the side panel.
-Fits the corsair H60 well with the radiator mounted on the top pushing air out of the case. Average temperature on stock core i7 920 was 31c at idle. Overclocked to 3.5, it's still a cool 39c at idle.

Cons: -One fan is faulty and constantly makes a clicking sound. Apparently this is a known issue, but contacting tech support should get the issue resolved quickly.
-It's hard to find a white drive bezel! I color-matched and spray-painted one myself.
-The drive bays aren't tool-less like they were in the first version of the raven02. Why did they remove that feature?

Other Thoughts: It will be many years before I buy another case.....this one is so well-made and looks amazing. Buy this immediately!

4 out of 5 eggsMinor faults can't ruin a great looking/performing case.

Pros: Of course the first thing you will notice about this thing is the looks. The beige box is dead, but in turn we get a bunch of black boxes now. Nice to see a unique colored case that doesn't look gaudy for a change.

On top of the great looks, the performance that this case delivers is very nice for people wanting to do a very good overclock on air. I am typing this review with my amd 955 currently stress testing at 4.2 ghz.

The fans themselves are great, they move a ton of air. For people doubting the cooling or wondering only why one 120mm top fan, stop. The top of the case is all perforated and vented in addition to the one exhaust fan. Heat rises and bottom fans push the air out as well.

The 90 degree layout is particularly good for taking advantage of most reference style video cards cooling. With the positive pressure from bottom to top it does a very good job of helping the cards to be more efficient.

Plenty of room for storage. The hot swap hdd caddy is a rea

Cons: The fit and finish for the plastic pieces could be a bit better for a limited edition $220 + shipping case. In particular the top cover does not lineup flush with the sides of the case.

Speaking of the cover, it is too bad that you have to take it off to access the fan control switches.

Although the fans are a pro they are also a con due to the extremely tight tolerance between the blades housing. If you start to hear a clacking, disconnect the fans immediately or risk a broken one. I had my front fan start doing this, but was able to make some little spacers to correct the issue.

It's LONG from front to back...I guess size is never technically a con when you are looking at full towers, but people should just be aware that the dimensions of this thing are not normal.

Basically, if you have a mid tower, throw it on it's front, and then add 8 inches to the length and 3 or so inches to that height and you will get a good idea of this case's dimensions.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am really happy with this case so far. The pros for me far outweigh the few nit-picky cons.

It's great when you can get looks, function, and performance all working together.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Case

Pros: Absolutely beautiful build quality, first Silverstone product for me, Had a old Antec 1080AMG I finally retired, still need 2 more parts before I can assemble the new machine but Im very excited about the case, it exceeded what I was expecting, I saw a few people having issues with the AP181 fans upon start up, hopefully that won't be the case here, even if it does I won't knock it because the case is fantastic and no manufacturer is perfect, they all have bad batches of prodect from time to time they don't catch.

Cons: None at this time, will report back if anything turns up when I finish assembly.

Other Thoughts: Ordered yesterday at 2:00pm, showed up today at 10:30am on UPS 3day ground. Case showed shipped 1 hour after I ordered without using rush delivery.
