5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Case

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: I really enjoy this purchase. This case was nice to build in. It is quiet and keep my parts cool. The filtered intakes are great and easy to remove for cleaning. I don't think that as of writing this review there is a better value for a micro-atx case on the market.

Cons: No cons.

5 out of 5 eggsGood compromise between size, value, and performance

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: Quiet, good cooling, with nice air filters on every intake. Uses positive pressure to make sure incoming air goes through one of these filters minimizing dust buildup.

Setup such that you can use the entire length of the case for an extra long graphics card. It even has a built in support.

Comes apart nicely for easy access to the area behind the (removable) MB back plate

Cons: This is a Micro ATX case, so you're going to make some compromises on component sizes. These are cons, but I'm not taking off an egg for any of them, as you always have to make compromises on space with this form factor and I think the compromises they've made are generally good.

- Watch the length (depth) of your PSU. The case supports up to 180mm PSUs, but at that length you're going to have trouble routing cables through the back plate and you're going to be encroaching on the optical drive bay. I went with a 160mm (6.3") depth PSU and am glad I didn't go much larger.

- The removable drive cage overlaps with the lower left hand corner of your motherboard, which can be an issue if that's where your motherboard manufacturer decided to put the USB 3.0 header.

- If you have a large heatsink, you will also have very little clearance when installing full-sized hard drives in the drive cage. There's room for one full sized hard drive below the drive cage which is unlikely to have clearance issues. If your heatsink has a removable fan that can be installed on the rear to pull air through rather than push, you'll have a bit more room to work.

- No PWM fans included with the case, but they're easy to swap out.

- There is a potential hot spot above the graphics card unless you flip the PSU to exhaust air from the case, which means your PSU is likely to run hotter/louder. You could also install a slot cooler above the graphics card, but I've yet to find a slot cooler that isn't loud/whiny.

4 out of 5 eggsAn almost perfect MicroATX case

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case has almost everything you'd want in a high performance MicroATX case.

- compact size and lightweight
- good airflow
- dust filters on all intakes
- positive pressure
- PSU air stream separate from rest of components
- lots of room for routing cables behind the motherboard
- cut out for installing aftermarket coolers without removing the motherboard
- many drive bays, including 2x 5.25, 4x 3.5, and 1x 2.5, and vibration damping foam for hard drives
- structural support for tower heatsinks (!!)

Cons: The compact size of the case means you may run into some issues with certain motherboards. I installed an ASUS Maximus VII GENE in this case, which has the LGA1150 socket position further to the front of the case than in most Z97 motherboards, due to the huge MOSFET heatsinks. This means that the DIMM slots are also moved up. This caused the following issues:

- The pushing fan of the tower cooler ran right up to the end of hard drives installed in the cage, making it impossible to connect cables to the hard drives.
- Installed hard drives would interfere with tall DIMM modules that had heatsinks (making it even harder to install cables).

All this could have been fixed if the hard drive cage was designed to be a little further from the motherboard, both in length and in depth. I ended up installing one hard drive in the built-in, non-dampened 3.5" bay (which has lower airflow) and one drive in the 5.25" bay with the provided adapters.

All in all, a suboptimal situation. Compare your motherboard to the Maximus VII GENE before buying this case. If the LGA1150 socket is as far forward or more so, you should pick something else.

Other Thoughts: I bought this case as a replacement for an Antec Mini P180, which was probably almost perfect in every way, except perhaps its size, until USB 3.0 came out. This case is a worthy replacement to fill its shoes.

5 out of 5 eggsI love this little case

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: This thing is big enough on the inside so that I can fit all the things I want in there, and with the extra hard drive bays removed, the airflow is fantastic. It's small enough on the outside so that you barely notice it under your desk and It can be moved around with very little effort. Oh and it's a good price

Cons: NONE

4 out of 5 eggsProblems with front USB

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: Nice build quality - fit and finish is top notch. The filters are a must for dust enviroments, or when sitting on the floor of a house with pet hair.

Cons: I had a problem with the front panel USB ports: this part MUST come from SilverStone, not a commercial part. It took many phone calls and emails, and about a month later, I finally received a good-faith replacement (without sending anything back). The USB ports would not sufficiently power an external drive. Plugged a dual USB3.0 breakout cable directly into motherboard, and all was well.

The second problem I had was there were no usable mounting provisions for an SSD on the drive cage. I ended up removing the cage, and drilling a few custom holes to mount an SSD directly to the bottom of the case.

Other Thoughts: This was a build for a SOHO customer, and I wanted to be sure they had a professional looking case. Fit the bill there, but embarrassed I had to later return to replace the front panel USB ports (I had to deliver before the replacement arrived)

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent mid-range case

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is an excellent mid-range case for a MicroATX system build that offers good value for the price. The included fans are virtually silent, and an older SATA is noisier than the fans. It is fairly lightweight, so you will need to take care during assembly to avoid bending any chassis parts. I liked it enough that I purchased a second when upgrading the computer our kids use daily for homework.

Cons: Would have liked another integrated cable tie down spot near the CPU cooler for fan wires. Included fan cables are not sleeved.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for something a little more high end, the Temjin (TJ08-E) case is about the same size, with an aluminum front panel, versus plastic.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Built - Sturdy - Roomy Impressive Features

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is a very well built case that you will be proud to own. It has a very nice finish with no burrs. I liked the increase interior size because of the layout. It comes with 3.0 USB and audio inputs. Also case fans are very quiet too. I love the routing of cables and fan filters in this small matx case. It packs a lot of locations for placement of your additional hardware.

Cons: I do not see any issues with this case.

Other Thoughts: It is so quiet that you can not hear it run with the PSU and heat sink fans that I used. (PWM fans)

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice case.

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: Attractive, well made, good features.

Cons: Expensive, wider than usual.

Other Thoughts: Well made with nice features. Top side fan outlet with magnetic dust screen if you want to use with top vented power supply. Two big front fans with nice easy to remove front mesh dust screen. Very compact (height and depth) but quite a bit wider than other cases.

5 out of 5 eggsBest case I've ever had

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: I built an awesome, powerful computer, in a much smaller case than I was using for my old computer. Temps are great with the three fans. the power supply sucks in cold air from outside the case using a filtered air input, so it will help the PSU stay cool as it's not pulling in hot air from the case.
Vented expansion slot covers help keep the graphics card cool.
Two quiet but powerful 120MM fans in the front. These have a removable filter behind a well constructed door to keep things looking nice.
In addition to functionality, this case is of extremely high quality and looks great! I put it behind my three 23" Samsung monitors and can basically not see it exist, and when I do look at it, I'm happy.

Cons: Well, I could do with the silver strips running up the left side of the front. But it's not bad. And the LEDs are really bright (even though it's behind my monitors so I don't care)...

Other Thoughts: Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz CPU, MSI Z87M-G43 MicroATX LGA1150 motherboard, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3-1600 Mushkin Enhanced Blackline RAM, 2x 120GB Intel 520 Series SSD + 1TB WD Black HDD, Sparkle Calibre Geforce GTX 670 2GB graphics card, Lite On iHAS124-04 DVDRW, Xigmatek 120MM fan exhaust on back, 800W In Win Commander III 800W Modular power supply...

all fit nicely :)

5 out of 5 eggsFlexible Usage

This review is from: SilverStone SST-PS07B Black Steel / Plastic with Aluminum Accent MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: As SFF cases go, this one is roomy, flexible and mostly easy to use. The cube shape is clean and classy. At this price, the case is a steal. You could easily fit plenty of good gaming hardware in here, even long video cards. It's small enough to be able to store in tight spaces. I keep mine under an end table, so it's neatly out of the way and barely noticeable. I used an AMD APU for my setup, so things are fairly quiet.

Cons: For being a SFF case, it's a little on the big side. Gamers will appreciate the extra space, but non-gamers might find it to be too big. Working inside of it requires removing several screws, including the ones holding up the internal metal fan holder. The one small included fan runs a little noisy at times, so you might consider removing that and using a bigger fan elsewhere in the case.

Other Thoughts: Silverstone comes through yet again with a quality case at a very reasonable price that can accomodate a variety of builds.
