Combining two of SilverStone's most distinctive computer chassis breakthroughs - the unibody construction of the Temjin TJ07, introduced in 2005, and the 90-degrees rotated motherboard mount of the RAVEN RV01 from 2008 - the Fortress FT02 advances both chassis construction and thermodynamics in a dynamic, streamlined design. With the Fortress FT02, SilverStone engineers have combined the rigidity of unibody construction with the unparalleled cooling layout of the RAVEN chassis, adding a hot-swappable hard drive cage and an acoustically padded interior for maximum versatility. The result is increased structural strength, increased storage capacity, and whisper-quiet operation. Available in black and silver colors, its elegant outer shell is perfectly accentuated by the U-shaped unibody aluminum frame that not only provides unique styling, but also functional purpose. The bottom gap from the frame to the main body actually serves as the main air intake area for its three massive 180mm fans, making it even suitable for use on carpeted surfaces. For professionals and enthusiasts looking to build a silent workstation or gaming machine with maximum performance, there is no better than the SilverStone Fortress FT02.
  • Revolutionary 90 degree motherboard mounting from RAVEN RV01
  • Innovative 4.5mm aluminum unibody frame from Temjin TJ07
  • Three 180mm fans for unprecedented positive pressure and stack effect cooling
  • Supports liquid cooling radiator mounting
  • Motherboard back plate opening behind CPU area for quick cooler assembly
  • Supports 11” wide ATX motherboard
  • Foam padded interior for advanced noise absorption

4 out of 5 eggsOverall good

Pros: Good solid case, nice layout and the potential for lots of airflow. Very easy to install components and went together like a dream.

Cons: Came with a broken fan but I didn't realize it until I had everything installed and powered it on. (the fan had a crack in the blade and hub which caused a little miss alignment so you couldn't visually see it unless you had looked really close, as soon as I turned it on the blade connected with the fan case about 3 times before it broke, so quick I couldn't get it shut down before it came off.)

Silverstone said to get with the retailer, got a hold of newegg and they said I had to RMA the entire case. Not worth it when the rest of the case is fine and I would be without a computer for a couple of weeks while the RMA is processed. Had to buy the fan out of my own pocket.

Other Thoughts: If you do buy this case check the fans before you do anything else, I recommend powering them up first thing or really check them close and hard to make sure there are no issues.

Just seems there should be a better warranty path than sending something large like a case back when a small sub component is the issue. The rest of the case is great.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Positive air pressure
Air flow
Build quality

Cons: Only 7 expansion slots, so quad-xfire/sli is likely out of the question. There is space after the last slot, if you're ok with interfering with the 5 12" bays.

Other Thoughts: The space behind the motherboard tray is a bit tighter than most cases with this feature, something Silverstone themselves admit. Even so, I was able to keep all wires back there, using a Corsair HX850.

I have an XFX 5850 with the Accelero Xtreme III cooler. This required me to replace the middle 180x32mm fan with a 180x25mm fan. Left less than 1mm clearance, but that enough.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent spacious case

Pros: This case is great. I used it on my first build and after looking at other cases, have decided that this case will continue to be my primary. It looks fantastic and even my wife appreciates it!

Cons: nothing but small minor nitpicks.

5 out of 5 eggsSmooth!!

Pros: I've had my eye on this case for a long time. A couple of years in fact. I like the smooth professional look of the case as well as how the graphics cards hang and the airflow goes straight up. I have put an XSPC water cooling system inside of this with the radiator on top of the 180mm fans pushing the air and a couple of of corsair fans pulling. Works great lowered temps. Glad I finally broke down and parted with the $$$$. I moved from my second Lian Li case to this one and I like it alot. Granted the old cheese grater Lian Li that I had several years ago was pretty sweet too, but this case has always caught my eye above all else.

Cons: There are always those "things" that we can say "they should've done this or they should've done that", but honestly there is nothing that stays in the back of my mind that that is bothersome that I can't shake. You know like that one mysterious noise that the car makes and bothers you all of the time while driving. There is nothing of that nature going on with this case. I look at it and feel completely satisfied with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsExceptional Case

Pros: This case is really easy to work in, it is very roomy. The finish on the case is really nice. Components stay cool because of the cases thermal design.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: I have had the case for around 2 years (I have the usb 2.0 version). I'm very happy with it. There is no easy option to water cool your components with this case but I knew that going into it. All in all I am very pleased

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - The aluminum unibody looks fantastic.
- Pretty spacious compared to a mid tower.
- Build quality seems excellent.
- Nice touches on minor details, like small rubber washers on the thumbscrews that hold the side panel on.
- The hard drive cage isn't quite toolless, but the mounts for the drive are pretty much straight rubber, and the sleds feel very solid despite being plastic.
- The optional hot swap bay is nice and can be changed to a different bay if desired.
- All intakes are filtered, including the power supply intake.
- The three 180mm Air Penetrators are exceptionally quiet, and move a ton of air, all have sleeved cables.
- Can (just barely) fit a Phanteks CPU cooler

Cons: These are all nitpicks
- There are not enough cable tie points, 6 in total, 2 near the PSU side of the bottom cut out, 2 near the drive cage side of the bottom cut out, and two going up along side the drive bays.
- The CPU cut out on the back of the motherboard tray is too small, and I imagine most motherboards wll have to be removed entirely to install a backplate.
- The cables for the top fan and front panel (sans audio) are not sleeved/black, something I would have expected on the refreshed model.
- The power and drive activity LEDs are very, very bright.
- The dust filters for the bottom fans are all inside the case, so the side panel must be removed to access them.
- There is little room between the back of the motherboard tray and the back side panel, and it took some effort to not have it bulge out.
- The hard drive cage is not modular and riveted in place

Other Thoughts: - The fan control switches all seem to just turn the fans off when set to low. Probably because I have them plugged into my motherboard rather than a molex adaptor

5 out of 5 eggsBest case there is!

Pros: Very nice construction and durability. The Fans are HUGE! But they are quiet and get the job done.
Most cables come braided in black.
Very easy to hide cables behind the Motherboard.
My system stays nice and cold and looks great doing it.

Cons: Awkward to move.

Other Thoughts: The case is awkward to move around which isnt a big deal but it would come in handy if the opening to take the top grill off was also a place to pick up the case. I replaced the top 120mm fan with a Corsair H80i. Fits like a glove. Case is just big enough to hold a Phantek or Noctua CPU cooler (that is if you have low profile memory, if you raise the fans up then it wont fit in the case)

Cable management is amazing. You can effortlessly route every cable around the back. Though it would of been nice if it was an extra 1/2" wider for more room for cables.
This case is holding my W8000 GPU (L=11") which fits, but barely. The power cables to the GPU was a tight fit above the 180mm center fan.

Chose this over the RV-02 because of the Aluminum unibody and yes it was worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Worth It

Pros: Great design (!!) for accoustics, cooling and looks. Room for upgrades & expansion, solid, extremely well built, Rotated motherboard design is the only way to go. Originally bought this for a silent audiophile workhorse PC; bigger than I needed but glad I got it. Down the road got into photography and some video editing, needed more storage, a larger video card and a couple SSD. Long story short, this case has housed 3 unique PC builds and shows no sign of getting old. I may never buy another case again. One of my best buys, very happy.

Easy to work on, and there will be lots of times you need to open your case, this was designed with you in mind. The extra space means you can save money by getting a non-modular power supply. I did and there's plenty of room to tuck away extra power cords without obstructing airflow.
The 3 oversized fans built in to the base are adjustable each with their own switch. On low they are silent unless you put your ear right next to them. I am extremely picky about sound and looked at cases specifically designed to be quiet/silent and there are others out there that might be slightly quieter but you sacrifice cooling. I have a powerful graphics card and overclocked processor, temps and noise level are both surprisingly low. Never need to turn the fans up to high but it's nice to have the option. Plenty of room here for a large after market CPU cooler and anything else you might want. I've used it almost every day for 3 years and never an issue.

Impressive to look at. Great dust control, lots of screws, bays, and mounting options included.

Cons: Heavy. Space (long footprint.) Portability.

Other Thoughts: Currently:
Intel i7-3770k CPU overclocked
ASRock EXTREME 4 Z77 motherboard
16gb G.skill Ares RAM
MSI GeForce GTX 670 video card
SeaSonic S12II Bronze 620w v2.3
Noctua NH-D14
SSD OCZ Vertex III 120gb
internal card reader
DVD drive and BD drive

4 out of 5 eggsNice case

Pros: Great cooling, ample room, wisper quite

Cons: decent quality, whish it had more thumbs screws, heavy, hd cage is plastic

Other Thoughts: Compared to a Lian Li the over all quality isn't there. I didn't expect lian li quality with this case i wanted this case for the extra room and window on the right side. Lian li didn't offer a case quite like this one thats the only reason i jumped ship. i would say Lian li = lexus silverstone= toyato. both are nice but one is much more refined. Having said that this still is a great case very nice, it fits the hx80 corsiar water cooler its tight fit but thats it. cooling and layout are just awsome.. i swapped the stock cosair fans for some noctua fans and you cant here this thing run. Which was the whole point of the build. the space behind the mobo is also just great. Overall this is a nice case and i recomend it.
