SilverStone GRANDIA Series GD04B-USB3.0 Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC, 8.0mm aluminum front panel, 0.8mm SECC body Case with 2 x USB3.0 ports (Black)

Pros: Absolutely love it: top-notch quality; well engineered; lots of room and options for an easy install; great looks that match rest of my A/V equipment; well-supplied with installation goodies.

Installed: Asrock Z77M mobo + Intel Sandy Bridge w/stock fan; Powercolor HD 7750 graphics card; LG Blu-ray; PSU-Rosewill Capstone 450W modular 80+ Gold; plus 3 Hard-drives (1SSD and 2 2TB discs)...and Inteset CIR receiver (Harmony remote) and two IR receivers (1 XBox Controller and 1 Logitech Keyboard). Everything fit great with no installation problems.

Large means quiet & cool even when gaming: Disconnected 1 case fan; turned other 2 to lowest level, along with CPU fan. Practically noiseless, unless high-end gaming & even then I would have to turn speakers off in order to hear low hum.

Cons: None...nada...zip. Well, on second thought there are two things:
1. Main 3 case screws to remove top should be thumb screws!!!!! Seriously. Even the PSU came with them. But the top? Nope.
2. Easy way to wire fans together for mobos with only 1 variable speed pin out.

Other Thoughts: For those thinking of installing an Inteset (or other brand) IR receiver that requires drilling a hole in the case...DON'T!!! I did. It works, but angle of reception reduced to 45 degrees b/c the front plate is ~1/4" solid aluminum plate. Great for quality, but sets IR eye back to deep for great reception. Just a heads up.

Pros: This is a beautiful case the intergrates perfectly into any home theater enviroment. Its shallow design will work well for those who have an AV rack or stand where depth is a concern. It feels solid without weighing a ton. I was able to fit one 2.5inch SSD and two 3.5inch storage drives. This case is designed really well to maximize space with its small footprint.

Cons: This case is much louder than i exspected for a HTPC specific case. My previous build used an Antec Fusion case and i NEVER knew it was on. Those with an open stand design will not be happy with this case. Mine is a closed cabinet so its not a big concern.

At first i was unable to fit my second 3.5 inch drive in the mounting system. One orentation put it back to far and it hit the other drive, the other put it too far forward and you couldnt get the mouting system back in the case. I had to remove the rubber isolation grommets, drill 4 new holes 1/4 inch in front of the old ones, file and then reinstall the grommets. It then fit the way it was designed.

Other Thoughts: I took 1 egg off for noise and 2 eggs off for the misplaced mounting holes as that is huge.

I cant say if i just got unlucky or this plagues the first batch of cases to be shipped. buyer beware untill more reviews roll in or we hear from Silverstone.
