SST-FT02
INTRODUCTION
Combining two of SilverStone's most distinctive computer chassis breakthroughs - the unibody construction of the Temjin TJ07, introduced in 2005, and the 90-degrees rotated motherboard mount of the RAVEN RV01 from 2008 - the Fortress FT02 advances both chassis construction and thermodynamics in a dynamic, streamlined design. With the Fortress FT02, SilverStone engineers have combined the rigidity of unibody construction with the unparalleled cooling layout of the RAVEN chassis, adding a hot-swappable hard drive cage and an acoustically padded interior for maximum versatility. The result is increased structural strength, increased storage capacity, and whisper-quiet operation. Available in black and silver colors, its elegant outer shell is perfectly accentuated by the U-shaped unibody aluminum frame that not only provides unique styling, but also functional purpose. The bottom gap from the frame to the main body actually serves as the main air intake area for its three massive 180mm fans, making it even suitable for use on carpeted surfaces. For professionals and enthusiasts looking to build a silent workstation or gaming machine with maximum performance, there is no better than the SilverStone Fortress FT02.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing CPU Case

Pros: Tons of room, silent, and cool thanks to the innovative vertical card orientation. Lower removable fan filters are easy to remove and clean.

Cons: It's big. If size is a factor, don't look here. I wanted something that was big, cool and easy to maintain and it works for me.

5 out of 5 eggsRocked my socks. And more.

Pros: Almost too many to list, most of them to help you with the initial build.
-Excellent Cable Management
-Very quiet
-Stays remarkably cool, Noctua NH-U14s CPU heatsink does wonders supplementing the natural air flow of the case. To any of you who are concerned about it fitting in the case, fear not, it fits snuggly.
-Most solidly built case I've ever come across. Some might find this a con but it's very large and VERY heavy which is a symptom of its robust construct

Cons: -The side panel screws did not come screw.ed in with my case, had to hunt for them inside the case and box as they simply fell and rolled around into random places.
-People gripe that the plastic basis for the chassis USB 3.0 is too flimsy but personally, I find it perfectly functional and fitting.
-CPU LED flashes bright blu

Other Thoughts: Honestly I hope this case line will carry on as long as ATX Tower cases are relevant. I'll be buying the same thing for my next build..

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a keeper

Pros: I did a lot of research prior to buying this case and I can say it was worth it. I just opened it to clean it after two months of not touching it I have barley any dust in the case. The filters on the lower fans worked great at catching most of the dust. The case is a bit heavier than most new case but doesn't feel much worse than the metal cases computer suppliers used to sell for the aftermarket or custom builders (way back when). Cable management inside and out is beautiful and easy to deal with. The case easily disassembles and reassembles without a lot of effort. This case stays cooler and quieter than previous cases I have owned that also claimed great cooling. I was able to easily install and use a Noctua NH-D14 and there is still some room between the top of the heat sink and the side of the case.

The USB 3.0 header plugged into the onboard port without any problems (Asus Sabertooth x79). I have noticed that some cases claim front USB 3.0 but are actually running an extended USB 3.0 cable out the back of the case to plug in to use a port that you may not have that many of (on some boards). I find that deceptive, annoying and tacky (for my personal build preference, a customer wants it then they can have it). I do like the fact that the reset button is not some small depressed button that you have to have a small object to hit like some cases.

To me this case is the best I've ever owned and I've owned a lot of them. I enjoy the looks, love the functionality of it and appreciate the time Silverstone put into designing the case.

Cons: The case is truly a great design and the only thing I had an issue with was running wireless mouse while the receiver was plugged into the I/O board with the cage over it. Easily solved by running a four USB extension cable to the front of the top to sit inside the "handle" you put your hand into pop the top off. If you’re asking why didn’t I plug the receiver into the USB 3.0 ports at the top front instead I need to keep those open for other devices I need to quickly plug in or disconnect. I wish the hot-swap adapter that was included was SATA III instead of SATA II (Yes I've read and looked at all the back and forth as to why that may not matter I’m just nit picking).

Other Thoughts: I did not get the case with the window because I no longer feel the need to display the inside of the case with a window and lights. As I only build myself a new computer every 5-6 years when I’m going to do it (and can afford it, hah) I do lots of research into every part and pick what I felt would do me the best. At this rate I may either keep this case when the next one rolls around or maybe see if Silverstone has any more updated ones that are better if even slightly.

Now I’m not running SLI at this time but did see some reviews complain that going with SLI depending on cards can make it hard to use the upper most 5.25 drive bay if the component going there is long due to cable plug in and where your card would plug in. Just FYI. Also even though I love Newegg I did buy the case from (can't post the site name but I get free shipping for $79 a year) for the free shipping (bought it directly from Silverstone) as Newegg was charging $35 to ship at that time. I see they have dropped the shipping cost but when building a system sometimes you need to save money (for more upgraded parts, lol).

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Case

Pros: Unibody design, great airflow, super huge fans, radatior support. was able to fit a Thermaltake CLW0217 Water 2.0 Extreme/All-In-One Liquid Cooling System with the double radatior in it.

Cons: the 90 degree mobo mount is cool but if you intend on putting the case in a cabinet it makes it hard to get it in bc the cords have to be long enough to slide all the way out.

Other Thoughts: over all a great case, lots of fans and air flow.
