4 out of 5 eggsA Very Good Case

Pros: Depth, ventilation (pre-drilled holes on top and rectangles on the sides), internal support bar, prettier than most generic 4u rack-mountable cases (in my opinion), hot-swappable drive bays.

Cons: hot-swappable drive bay fan noise is louder than I like.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely purchase more of these case in the future if I can find a solution to the drive bay fan noise level. If it were for the fan noise, I would give this case a 5-star rating.

After 5 years, the hard drive backplane began failing, so I just removed it and connected the drives directly to the motherboard. Even without the hard drive backplane, it's worth purchasing. FYI, when it began failing, the Windows Task Manager would lock-up every 4 seconds.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: solid steel construction, screws holding it together rather ran rivits, plenty of room for all my stuff. Looks very nice in the rack, plenty of vents, the system stays very cool.

Cons: Well, as another reviewer had happen to them, the 5 bay backplane was missing from my case, still waiting to see what newegg is going to do about it. Front doors are plastic, which feel kind of cheap. But i knew that going in by what others have said.

Other Thoughts: overall its a good case, cant beat the price for a server case with 5 bay backplane, assuming i finally get mine... Am actually getting ready to place another order as soon as im done with this review.

3 out of 5 eggsnot as advertised

Pros: not bad bang for buck

Cons: not as pictured, the left side bay has one extra 5.25 vertical bay blank and the drives are horizontalin backplane. Has one less 3.5. cheap plastic doors unlike the other reviewer that got alum. have not started build yet but buyer beware.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Case and removable bays work as advertised. Case also includes one 90mm fan that spins at 1900 RPM, and is not very loud at all. Using it as a HTPC with 8 HDD, 1 DVD/Blueray, 1 card reader, AMD 4850B, Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H, 1 sata controller and 2 gig ram.

Cons: Blue LED on the front is a little bright at night in the living room.

Other Thoughts: The included fan on the back of the removable bays suck the air out of the bay and dump it into the case. Wish it would have been ducted to the side.
Overall, Good case, and well worth the money. I have since purchased 2 more of them.

5 out of 5 eggsGood server value with hotswap

Pros: Very solidly build. Hot swap is easy to work with and came with all the screws and sata cables you need. The case appears to be held together entirely by screws instead rivets which you don't normally see. Which is actually nice.

Cons: Same as before about the screws. They used standard CD rom screws (long) instead of the ones that came with the hot swap unit which are included (small) The large intake inlet at the top of the case doesn't offer much air flow over the mother board.

Other Thoughts: All the hot swap cables and screws are inside the the unit itself. Over all this case is a good value considering a 5 drive hot swap unit cost at least $100

4 out of 5 eggsOverall good deal

Pros: Good build quality. 5 bay SATA drive bay. Good design.

Cons: Same issue as others where the screws in the SATA drive bay were too long. No big deal though since the drive bay came with screws of the proper length. Drive bay fan is noisy even on low.

Other Thoughts: I was very surprised to see the aluminum doors as an unexpected bonus. I thought I was getting the plastic ones.

4 out of 5 eggsGood value due to included sata mobile rack

Pros: The Sata mobile rack is a value-added feature to this case. Purchased separately, a similar rack would cost at least a c-note.

The case is well constructed. As an example, the 3.5 and 5.25 inch drive blanks are all metal.

Both the mobile sata rack and the opposite 5.25 inch bays are easily removed from the case by removing their containing cages. Just four screws hold each cage to the case, and the cages lift out independently.
Therefore, one can assemble all the peripheral drives outside of the case.

Cons: A schematic would have been helpful, were it included.

Whoever at the factory assembled the sata mobile rack to the cage used screws that were too long, and it effectively pinned solid the 5th drive tray into its slot. It took some time to track that mistake down.

You'd think after years of making cases, manufacturers would make built-in USB port cables with a single plastic connector instead of four separate leads per port. They are a pain to attach.

The mobile rack has individual power buttons for each of its drives. The buttons are intended to be depressed using a writing pen, and to get the buttons to stay "on" takes a lot of pressure, enough pressure such that turning the power on to each drive and leaving it on becomes an attractive solution.

Other Thoughts: Overall, the case is sturdy with plenty of room for peripherals, components, and airflow.

As noted in the "cons" section, if you get a stuck tray - at either tray one or tray five - loosen the cage mounting screws. Inspect for damage, as the soft aluminum of the drive tray takes a good impression of the bolt tip, essentially swaging it in.

Because the front USB port wires are individual leads, make sure you connect them before you install any sata drives or peripheral cards on your mobo. It'll save you from undoing them later on.

This exact product is not listed in support at the manufacturer website. The reason appears to be it is a hybrid, one part being a D-Storm D400-6 type of case, but the other being the mobile sata rack. If you need support, the mobile rack by itself is item BPU-350 in the manufacturer's knowledgebase.

Pros: Unbeatable deal. Server runs cool with core2 duo and 7 disks!
