5 out of 5 eggsOwned for years, buying another

Pros: Holds by front brackets only, unlike another reviewer stated. I just have it attached by the front, no sliding rails. Bunch of drives in there and no issues with weight.
Easy open case, lots of room.

Cons: Heavy. Had to drill extra holes to fit a motherboard, but it was a dell mboard, so probably not a standard size.

Other Thoughts: I've been looking for another rack mount 4u case WITH rails or mountability without buying anything else. Unclear of what has that capability or not, so since I bought this one a while ago and it works, I'll just buy another one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Home PC Rack Case

Pros: I was looking for a rack case to use for my music studio. If you're familiar with the music site that sounds like sugar water, then you've probably seen their "Creation Stations," and I believe this is what they use for their cases. I wanted their case so I bought this one, and I was right; it's the same thing.

It's very well constructed and the front handles are heavy duty.

Cons: No sliding rack rails included. It's a heavy case and you can't just mount it in a rack from the front rails and expect it to hold.

Also, an optional top handle toward the rear would make it easier to lift and move in and out of a rack; since I don't use rack drawer sliders and just have the case resting at the bottom of the rack it was difficult to push it back without scraping the bottom.

Other Thoughts: Free shipping would be awesome.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased

Pros: After using several different cases for server builds, I found this to be my favorite. Nice, sturdy case with more than enough room for anything I might need to add. Easily fit a modular ATX power supply with ample room for cables even with an Icy Dock backplane in front.

Unlike some cases of a lesser build, the outside panel slides on easily, mounting holes are precision drilled and line up perfectly, and the HDD cages are easily accessible without having to take apart the entire case.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I will definitely be purchasing additional units as needed.

Only a minor comment but the left 5.25 bays have to be mounted vertically rather than horizontally as they are on the right side. Not a big deal if you keep the doors closed or use them as Raid storage.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Large number of external 5.25" bays, pretty sturdy, well designed for the most part.

Cons: Single internal 3.5" drive bay is not in a good location.

Other Thoughts: Needed to upgrade a server, and had to have a case that could support a large number of 5.25" devices. This one offers 7 external 5.25 bays for under $100. Had no problems moving the guts of the server into this case, and had no problems regarding cable lengths or keeping things neat and organized inside. I did replace the stock fan with some Panaflo fans I had laying around, so I can't comment on its loudness. Only thing I can fault is that the single 3.5" internal bay is located at the bottom of the right drive bracket. Drive is crushed in there, with no airflow around it and no space between it and the 5.25" bay above it. Ended up mounting my drive in an unused 5.25" bay (using a 3.5 -> 5.25 adapter that is NOT included)...not a big deal. Overall though, I'm very pleased with this case, and will be buying at least one more.

3 out of 5 eggsMissing HDD Mounting Brackets

Pros: The size of the case works well for the space that I need it for. Lock for the doors on the front for security if you want no else to use the PC. USB connectors on the front. There are no front intake fans.

Cons: This server case does not come with 3.5" to 5.25" mounting adapters for hard drives. It only has one place for a 3.5" drive. I had to order the adapters separately.

Other Thoughts: Also, it doesn't have the best air flow.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!

Pros: As nice as this case looks in the pictures, it looks even BETTER in person. Plenty of room, built in fan, no issues at all. iStarUSA should be selling 1,000's of these every month!

Cons: My only complaint, is that the front ports don't support USB 3.0. Everything is moving forward iStarUSA, please try and keep up!

Other Thoughts: Very impressed. We'll be recommending this case highly.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome rackmount case

Pros: Plenty of space inside, solidly built, locking doors, modular design, great price!!

I got this for my recording studio computer. I was previously using the Antec 300 which I still love but I wanted a rackmount to get my desktop off the floor (less dust) and I wanted to mount it in my rack with the rest of my equipment and this case did the trick nicely. The rack holes lined up perfectly and I was also able to seamlessly move everything from my tower into the rack including my 850 Antec TPQ-850 psu and my Thermaltake GunMet-Orb cpu cooler.

Cons: The cons are minor... they include next to no cable management but since my psu is modular this wasn't much of an issue but with a case of this size it would have been nice to have nonetheless. Also, the bottom of the case has some rough edges to it and it scratched my studio desk top when sliding it into the rack so I slid a large mouse pad under it and all is well.

My Antec 300 has 5 case fans 4- 120mm, 1- 140mm and sadly there wasn't any room to bring them into the rack but I bought 2 80mm fans for the rear exhaust and my temps are fine even under heavy load I guess do the the shear size of the case which is fine as it's quieter now which is really important for me.

Other Thoughts: Other than the rough edges under the case and no cable management I absolutely love this case! It is heavy and even heavier when loaded with computer components so traveling with it would be a pain but that's what laptops are for. Besides, this bad boy is staying put in the rack where it belongs iStarUSA customer support is great and very helpful even if you just have general questions and for that I will buy iStarUSA again in the future!

Give me some cable management and this can get 5 eggs :)

Newegg/UPS took their sweet time shipping my case but it came to my door in perfect condition.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: Solidly built. Relatively quiet for the money. Has seven 5.25 bays that I've converted to 1 5.25 bluray drive and 9 3.5 bays with 2tb drives, one 3.5 bay that I've converted into 2 2.5 bays for SSD boot disks. Works as advertised.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsgood case

Pros: 1. very well built
2. have 2 doors instead of 1, easier to find the dust filter size
3. precision, all the screw holes are in right place, the lid is slide on easily.
4. istartusa support is actually reachable if you have questions.
5. no sharp edges
6. this will fit a normal size power supply. i used the eneermax 600w plus 80 gold. which barely fitted in.

Cons: 1. this thing as listed have 7 5.25" bays and only 1 3.5" bay intended for floppy. thw 7 5.25" bay is meant for you to have hotswap bays to contain the hard drive. if you just want the harddrive to be in there then you will need to have adapters or one of these

Other Thoughts: compare this to the most popular ark cases that newegg sells, i think this one have a little more quality into it, but the down side is that anywhere within the chasis there is no silicon bushing or antivibration washers that ark cases have. it also felt smaller as the atx mobo is as big as it will fix in this case.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth every penny

Pros: Excellent fit and finish, very sleek and modern looking, excellent airflow and venting options, will accept just about any full size power supply, expansion slot card holder is VERY adjustable, excellent included accessories and hardware.

Cons: These are not even really Cons, more like minor personal gripes or words of caution if you're reading this...

The case I received, wasn't quite the case pictured?
(see below in other thoughts)

Not necessarily for my application, but there is little room between the back of the drive bays and the front edge of the motherboard. If using anything longer than standard ATX, it can make the lower few drive bays difficult to use. May want to consider a deeper case in that situation.

Other Thoughts: I will assume it's not I-Star's fault, probably Newegg's fault. I read the review from the person who said they got 2 of these cases and neither had doors. Newegg DOES sell an almost identical I-Star 4RU case...just like this one...but without the front doors. Possibly there was a mix-up on their end so I took the risk and ordered away. When I got the case...and saw that it had arrived in flawless condition, from CA to MN, via UPS (amazing huh?), I was thrilled. When I popped the cover off, I noticed one of my drive cages wasn't what I was expecting. Instead of having 4 vertically oriented 5.25" bays, I had 3 horizontally oriented 5.25's and a 3.5" Basically a mirror image of the other side. Not a big deal, but it would be great if someone could figure out why it happened to prevent it from happening to someone else.

Overall, I am very pleased with the case and it's flexibility, and plan on purchasing many more. This time, I got way more than I paid for, what a great value
