1 out of 5 eggsUpdate from 06/29/09

Pros: Newegg of course. I purchased this case a little over a year ago. I had fast shipping, and the item was well packaged. Great looking case, it does impress folks.

Cons: You can "NOT" buy any replacement parts for this case. Sunbeam does offer support for the (1) year warrenty, yet after that (1) year Sunbeam offers "NO" support. (Verified)

THERE ARE A LOT OF PARTS IN THIS CASE. Some are needed to install the HDD's and CD-DVD drives, components that can be swapped out often. The MB standoffs are of a "custom" stlye, you cannot use any other offerings other than Sunbeam parts. This is a custom style case, all parts needed for replacement must come from Sunbeam.

Other Thoughts: Wow, you have to purchase another case to have replacement parts on hand!

I needed replacement parts 2 months after my (1) year warrenty period had expired, and I will have to purchase another case to get these parts. Again, you can "NOT" even buy single parts from Sunbeam either.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice!!

Pros: I have looked at alot of tech stations. Most of them are way over priced. This is a great buy. I use it to trouble shoot components. Thought out design makes it easy to use. Easy to assemble.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you are thinking about buying one, think no more.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it.

Pros: Came as described and works as it should. For the price compared to other tech stations, this is a good deal.

Cons: Fan mounts would be nice but, if you have plenty of zip ties and some creativity you'll be fine.

Other Thoughts: I use this for a folding rig that I am constantly changing out GPUs and it works for me. I would not recommend this if you plan on using this for your primary system but, I don't think it's meant to be. I do plan on buying another one soon.

1 out of 5 eggsPurchase at you own risk!

Pros: None, I was never able to build!

Cons: POOR SUPPORT!!!

They don't offer an 800 number so hopefully long distance calls are free for you. I have called them 8 times now during there supposed buisness hours. All you get is a message service and they never call you back! I have e-mailed them 3 times and no replies! i have even filled out the form on there webpage and still nothing.

Other Thoughts: The one egg is for Newegg for a fast delivery and an easy RMA.

I willl never purchase a SunBeam product again with this level of service.

4 out of 5 eggsMostly awesome

Pros: The quality of the acrylic is outstanding. No blemishes, cracks, scratches or fog on any of the pieces.

Easy to put together, so long as you read the instructions and follow them. Once fully together, the system is solid and serves as a great teaching platform for anyone curious about the workings of a modern desktop computer. An X58 motherboard, 2x ATi Radeon 4890's, 2 HDD's and 1 ODD all powered by an OCZ 700W PSU. All components fit perfectly and function well, and stay cool due to the obvious open air design.

Cons: Hit and miss build quality on some of the embedded anchors in the acrylic pieces. A few of the posts had to be filed/deburred of acrylic material that had presumably melted into them. This prevented mounting screws from being fastened until the excess acrylic was scraped away. While it was nice to be provided with cotton gloves, they're of the "one-size-fits-none" type, in that they fit the fingers just fine, but the spacing between thumb and first finger is wrong. And, not affecting construction adversely, but some of the anchors were tapped slightly, but noticeably off center on the 6 support posts. Once assembled, they function as they should, but it's just a nit I'm picking on QA.

Other Thoughts: Mostly tooless except for the "front" panel header which requires a philips screw driver to affix to the case.

Be sure to route ALL your cables under the motherboard before you mount it.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty, but..

Pros: Saw someone do a build for a F@H rig with one of these and was really impressed with it. Bought mine the next day for my i7 build. It's easy to put together, didn't even need instructions. It's cheaper than most other techstations. It looks cool. It would be awesome for air cooling on an "average" gaming PC of the LGA775 variety.

Cons: No accomodations for water cooling, and the holes on the expansion card holding rail do not line up with X58 motherboards. Not sure about others, though. Also, it will not fit an HX1000 PSU or anything around that size so think twice if you're building a high power system.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case!!

Pros: Phenomenal looking case with easy access, great cooling, intelligent layout and extra space to store tools, spare parts, etc.
Has 7 expansion slot screw-ins on the uppermost rail, and the motherboard area will fit even e-atx sized mobos, although I cannot speak to the layout of screws in eATX boards.
Half as much as other 'bench' style acrylic cases, and just as well layed-out.

Cons: A bit of a pain to see where you're trying to put the pieces during assembly since everything looks clear and there's not a lot of contrast between things. Of course, you can see all of it...
DON'T overtighten screws, either the heads will strip out (cheap screws) or you risk cracking the acrylic.

Other Thoughts: Great case, and acceptably sturdy once fully assembled and tightened down. Looks cool in the clear, I'd love to see one of these in the UV blue.

5 out of 5 eggsNICE

Pros: Looks really nice. The acrylic is of high quality, looks just like glass. Great instructions, easy to build. Well thought out layout and construction. 3 day shipping from Newegg. Tooless except for (3) screws for power/USB card. There are 1 inch standoffs for the MB instalation, and the cabling is routed underneath the MB to hide it, very clever. The PCI/card fastening system is very secure. Fully assembled, the unit is solid/stable. PSU hold down works as it should. This case has a small footprint. Because of desgn, there are almost no areas for fingerprints or dust to accumulate on the acrylic, which is way cool. The easy acess to all components is fantastic, and all componets can breathe air freely with NO FANS ( except for CPU). Once more, the acrylic is very clear and looks great. I am really happy with this purchase.

Cons: The (4) round acrylic feet have a sticky tape installation, there are no holes for a screw type foot. Sticky tape adhesive can and will etch the acrylic over time. A oversize PSU will require a modified hold down bracket, or if you do use the included bracket, you won't be able to secure with all of the avalible holes. (An easy fix for a DYI'er). The power/USB/audio card install holes are slightly off, no big deal but just expect a little wrangling to install correctly. No handles to move the case, you should either intend on seldom moving of the case, or build yourself a stand with handles, which is what I did. The screw joints are well done, but as with all acrylic cases, stress cracks can happen at these joints, so it would be best to make yourself a carry/lifting base to move it. No real potential for water cooling unless you do a stand alone system.

Other Thoughts: Most people might be cocerned with noise factor, seeing how there is no "cabinet". I own a high end "quiet " PC case, and because of the amount of fan noise to keep such a case cool, this case beats out my "quiet" case. I spoke with a Electronic Repair Tech about the dust factor on the MB, and he said with an occasional can of air, I will have no more problems than with a "cabinet" style case. This case looks way cool, has a great price point for eye candy. I had intended on buying the UV version of this case, yet Newegg ran a Promo on the clear, so I bought this one. I have seen both cases, and if you do not intend to add UV lighting, the clear stands out better between the two. A great buy, buy it!
