3 out of 5 eggsTwo years on...

Pros: Has it already been over two years? I got this case during the winter of 07-08 and wrote a short review here after getting settled with it. With two years of daily use behind me as my primary internet and gaming rig (with it powered on 24/7/365) I've learned to love and hate it, as I suspected I would in my initial review. The best part about this case, and the main reason I haven't replaced it yet, is the great placement of the front headphone jack and the 4 USB 2.0 ports. I have 9 daily used USB devices (kb, mouse, 4 piece CH control system, track IR, webcam, 360 controller/360 wireless receiver) and I only have 4 USB ports on my motherboard (ABIT IP35-PRO). With a USB riser card (which adds two ports from the motherboard) and these front ports I have just enough. The headphone jack is also perfectly placed for my use with the heavy corded/jack headphones I use (Senn. HD280 Pro) -- the angle means it doesn't ever pull at right angles and thus loosen or damage the jack.

Cons: I had to install a Thermaltake iCage HDD mount in the bottom three 5 1/4 slots to get some airflow moving through the case and to be able to fit my four hard drives. I'm still using the same four hard drives I was using when I built it, and I haven't moved them. Even with this solution there is a huge tangle of cables as you can well imagine (look at build spec) and airflow isn't optimal. The iCage had a fan on it but it died quickly due to poor airflow with the front closed (and I started using a more powerful exhaust fan coupled with a GTX 260 which combined draw adequate air from the front area). The case is also a dust magnet, both inside and out, and requires meticulous cleaning every other month. Dustballs love to get caught up inside the plastic molding -- very irritating and hard to remove them all. Another extreme annoyance is the front door causing constant vibration/rattling noises after becoming loose due to case/gpu/cpu fan vibrations over a long period of time.

Other Thoughts: Even so, all said and done this case has done an acceptable job of keeping my system cool and safe for the two years I have owned it. It's heavy, clumsy, and not fun to work with, but it's sturdy and pretty. You have to decide what is really important to you when you build your rig, and for me, I decided wrong. I worked with my mistake, but I'm not buying another one, nor am I buying my next case based on looks. After working with them for other builds in the past two years, I am absolutely sure my next primary rig will be built in an Antec or Lian Li. They are the best.

Build spec (original listed first, otherwise original is still current):

ABIT IP35 PRO @ 1600 FSB
Q6600 @ 3.2ghz w/Freezer 7 Pro
4gb DDR2 800
4 hard drives (250 250 500 750)
MSI Geforce 8800 GT OC (Currently: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 260 Super OC)
OCZ 600w PSU (Currently: Rosewill 550w)
HTOMEGA Striker 7.1 Audio

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: The Outer case looks great the plastic is not painted but modeled and polished on the outside, so it makes dings & starches hardly noticeable. The pieces line up nicely and It’s not too hard to take apart to change the LEDs.

Cons: It has a few things I would change (which I already did) is cast aluminum hood arms and push lock. I also Painted the inside of the case (Black).

None of the above are really cons just things I would have done differently.

Other Thoughts: None.

4 out of 5 eggsLots of room

Pros: Lots of room inside for ventilation and access. Very eye catching design. I bought the case for my daughters computer and she loves it

Cons: Plastic shell feels cheap and you can see the LEDs through the plastic. the front of the case is a different shade of red from the rest of the case. Door doesn't stay closed as the spring loaded clip is missing a piece. Have to contact ASUS directly to see if they have the part.

Other Thoughts: This is a very large case so if you are looking for something compact this is not it. Paint the case before putting all your parts inside to fix the mismatched color and LED problem. Otherwise this is a real fun case for those bored with plain boxes

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than I expected

Pros: This is just a follow up on my review from when I first got it. Like I said, it just looks so cool. I still haven't fixed the front but I'll get to it eventually. This case worked EXCELLENT with my CPU, I have an AMD Phenom x4 Black Edition 2.5Ghz and it simply astounded me! My CPU temperature dropped by 10C and my MOBO temperature by 11C. It works extremely well with ventilation and I might venture to overclock eventually.

Cons: Besides getting the power supply in, and the front clip on the case, this case is really good.

Other Thoughts: Also, I got my UFO USB adapter in the mail a week later and yes, it obnoxiously glows many different colors but I love it anyways :)

5 out of 5 eggsStunning 'quiet computer' design marred by egocentric 'corporate graffiti'

Pros: A gorgeous organic look that is light years away from 20th century computer case 'box' designs.

Plastic skin - Absorbs sound and makes an excellent 'silent' case platform
(with additional sound absorption pads, foam fan mounts, replacement 'silent' fans, etc.).

Solid construction.

Cons: Cons -

I wanted a green color and it does not come in muted metallic gold or silver.

Dated '2005' design needs several engineering changes.

[1] Case needs an embossed 'Symbolic/Iconic' logo like the Nike(shoe) or Lexus(car) corporations.

They should remove the tacky (A) egocentric embossed ASUS and (B)'Gaming
experience' text. ASUS should fire the egocentric executive(s)/manager(s)
responsible for this stupid, tacky graffitti that presents ASUS corporation as a
cheap, second rate organization.

[2] Corporate identity moved to back panel.

A small metal plate or spray paint section on panel back plate should be the
place for 'corporate identity details'.

[3] Power supply needs to be move 3/4 inch to vertical center line.

This allows 3/8 inch 'silent foam padding' to be placed on case wall right next
to power supply. Currently power supply is 'right next' to wall - preventing
the mounting of sound proof padding, and interfering with 'power supply gasket'

Other Thoughts: My 13 year old niece has had a blue one of these cases since 2006 with NO PROBLEMS.
You need to be VERY CAREFUL opening/closing (1) the side panel and (2) the front 'hatch'.

(1) Careful ALIGNMENT is key to an easy open/close panel.

(2) A GENTLE direct in/out push is all that is needed to open/close the 'hatch'.

Slapping the front hatch 'upside the head' is a sure way to break it!

3 out of 5 eggsMonster

Pros: Looks cool. Good air flow.

Cons: Bulky, heavy , and cumbersome. Opening the case is rather simple, but putting the side back into place when done is really a chore.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't have picked this case for myself. I built it for someone else, and it is a great looking case. Very hard to work with though, due to all the plastic on the outside of the metal shell.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good buy

Pros: Just got the case this afternoon and I was wowed already when I took it out. It's the red Vento 3600, just as I expected it. I only have 2 HDD's so it's not a big deal that there's only two 3.5" slots. It has a nice flowing design to it, it definitely looks very sleek. The side panel was very easy to get off, just a twist of your wrist and the whole side comes off, I thought that was pretty neat. (It's just hard to get everything lined back up again.)

Cons: I don't want to be too nit-picky, but there were several issues when I first got it functioning. The first problem I ran into was when I opened the box and saw that the cover was partly opened, only held by 2 pieces of tape. Immediately I knew there were some issues with front clip already, but I knew I would run into it sooner or later. Just some hot glue tacked the clip in place and it was good to go. The second issue was with the siding. Such a pain to get the non-motherboard side off...but after it was off it was easy to put back on. Another problem was when I was trying to put the power supply in it was a really really tight fit, I had to take a pair of pliers and actually squeeze the metal in a little just so I could shove my PS in there. I knew I would have the problem with the broken clip in the front (the front doesn't stay down now, yes I read all the other reviews), but a couple of dollars will buy me a new clip so not really any problems there.

Other Thoughts: I was sort of sad, I was actually looking forward to seeing this "UFO" usb hub that everyone has been getting, however, I guess having something on the order doesn't exactly mean you'll get it? It was never in any of the packaging... :(

I also read somewhere that someone said it was "speckled red" or something like that, but mine came in just gloss red...maybe he got a mixed up case or something? I was also sorta expecting the back 120 mm fan to light up (I assumed it would because it is a clear fan with the holes in it for the LED's) but it's just clear...

All in all a couple of fixer-uppers to do, but not to shabby of a case.

4 out of 5 eggsWell Rounded Case

Pros: This is a very sharp looking case. the easy turn latch on the like makes getting in and out of the case a breeze. I love the stream line look to it. The front panel hides the bays nicely. Clear coated for scratch resistance.

Cons: Not very modder friendly. I modded a clear side in this case, modders have to cut the plastic then the metal on the inside that the plastic mounts to. Also there are not that many fan ports. So you have to use your imagination when putting in extra fans.

Other Thoughts: Over all I was going for something different. this case has really succeeded in that. The clear side turned out excellent. I just wish they would have not discontinued the black edition. But after modding and used in the red case it looks just as good.
