5 out of 5 eggsMy new case of choice

Comments: I do not know why this does not have a 5 rating. There is not one thing bad with this case.
It is very sharp looking. Very good quality.
I built a system for a "gamer" who wanted a case with the side window and lights (which I personally think are stupid), but once he saw this case he would have much rather had this. Nothing real fancy, but very well done.
No cheap metal, 4 thumb screws for the case (2 on each side), the blanks for the pci/agp slots on the back all have screws and no cheap metal to bend to get them off.

Will be buying more of these shortly for future builds.

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost too nice to give away

Comments: I originally got this case for a client-friend's PC I was building but once I saw it I must admit I thought about keeping it for myself. Needless to say, this box exceeded my expectations by a very wide margin. I was especially impressed by its clean lines, attractive glassy silver finish and beveled clear plastic faceplate that almost looks like cut glass. Combined with a new silver-faced NEC DVD-RW drive and no floppy driver (who uses them anyway?) this case is a wonderful antidote to those "Xtreme" window-cases with plastic alien-eyeball extrusions and sticky, space-eating swinging doors. The case arrived without a scratch and was a breeze to set up. The so-called instructions were a one-page cave painting of arrows pointing at each other, but who reads the instructions any way? I defy anyone to find a nicer-looking case for $xx!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Quality

Comments: This particular case from AMS is very nicely made. However, they forgot to put in a front air vent. Models from AMS and Newegg that are slightly more expensive all have the front air vent. This is surprisingly easy to remedy. Due to the very attractive thick polished clear acrylic front cover that delivers a pretty blue light over the front, you can leave out the bottom 3 1/2 drive bay cover. On most computers, this would look odd. But, on this computer case, it shows off the extremely thick and lighted front cover even better. The bottom 3 1/2 external tray is coompletely enclosed, so nothing shows but some matching grey steel. I'm so glad I finally thought of this after 5 fans failed to cool the case.
For reference, I used a black DVD burner and a black floppy disk drive (3 1/2 drive is solid on the bottom with no exposed parts).
A CoolMax CX450 power supply, available at Newegg, is completely inaudiable. Next, there are two Dynatron 120mm slot coolers in with the card slots to get rid of the video card heat. These two economy slot coolers are plugged into SilverStone's matching silver 5 1/4" bay fan controller (from Newegg) that also features two small cool air intake vents (Hooray!!) and a matching blue light of exactly the same color! Two Zalman noiseless fans are on the rear exhaust. They are not connected to the fan controller because the Dynatrons have it at max load rating. The Zalman fans are simply plugged into 12 to 5 volt adapter plugs from the Silent PC enthusiast shop. This is beneficial because the power supply that I chose is slightly under par on the 12v (not enough to worry about), but very strong on the 5v side. The Zalman fans work great like this with zero sound. A large 80mm CPU cooler with a quiet fan completes the package. An Abit motherboard (had one lying around) features CPU fan speed control as all Abit's do (and Newegg has some nice ones).
Put your ear on it. You can't hear a thing. And, now it's cool. It also kept getting more and more attractive as I was putting add-ons with it. It's outrageously pretty fully configured.
I'll bet you're thinking it looks odd, but the "space" below the 3 1/2" disc is actually occupied (visually) by nearly 1/2" thick clear acrylic front panel and bit of blue light shining all around the edges. Can't see past it. This worked SO well!
Let's hear it for Rocket Science, and Newegg, of course!!
