The A37122BB.450 compact desktop case can be used in either desktop or tower orientation depending on your space needs. Even though it is only 13.8” x 15” it can accommodate a regular ATX motherboard. It also has two external 5.25” bays, an external 3.5” bay and up to three internal 3.5” bays.

Keeping things cool are two 80mm fans on the rear panel. There are side vents that can be used as HDD mounts or you can add 80mm or 120mm fans for cross ventilation. The PSU’s van has vent holes above it so heat is drawn up and out of the case helping to keep it cool.

The front panel has a discrete row of buttons and ports in one corner. Two USB and one FireWire port let you easily attach external devices. The audio ports let you use a headset for calls or gaming without having to reach around to the back of the case.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice HTPC Case

Pros: It offers great cooling, even with the stock configuration. Running a quad-core Phenom, and that idles at about 30*C, whereas what I was using before was idling at about 33*C. I'm not running a video card in it, so I can't comment there, and I have nothing to say about the power supply, because I always replace the stock power supply in anything that comes with one. I would, however, highly recommend this case.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a nice, slick looking HTPC case, you should go for it. As with anything that comes with a power supply, you should be ready to just replace it right off the bat, no questions asked. This case is worth it, even at $70.

4 out of 5 eggsK4r3n

Pros: Sharp little case, no outrageous lights or fancy items on it - in fact I have to occasionally look to see if its on because the power light is nice and low. Great for a media center PC or even a desktop. Simple yet useful, and the fans are quiet with great air flow.

Cons: If you are planning to get a high end video card that might be a bit longer than standard, don't get this case. There just isn't the kind of room in it you need. The power supply and hard drive will get in the way.

Other Thoughts: Don't let the size keep you from getting this as long as you aren't getting extra large items to fit into it. I used it as a gaming machine for almost a year before I upgraded my video card and had to replace it. It was so nice though that I converted it into a media PC, and its still kicking.

4 out of 5 eggsNice price/performance ratio!

Pros: My choice as HTPC case but be aware that it'll extend beyond the back of most all cabinetry. Lots of power and connectors, appears to have mammoth cooling features. Fits both ATX and micro-ATX. Good fit and finish.

Cons: No user instructions of any kind, only a rather incomprehensible 1.5x2.5 inch schematic of something or other.... front panel USB connector is all single pin with hard to figure cable labels.

Other Thoughts: I'd give this case 5 stars except for the lack of documentation. Even a single page saying thanks for buying Athenatech would have done it. Be aware it only supports HD front panel audio, not AC97. If you have a few extra dollars be sure to check out nMedia - some nice styling there.

5 out of 5 eggsNice HTPC Case

Pros: Great exterior appearance, which was high on my priority list for deciding on my htpc case. It looks perfect mounted above my audio receiver and cable box; when i am surfing around on my 47" lcd, guests cannot locate where the htpc is without me pointing it out! That is a great indicator of how well it blends in right there.

This case also moves air like crazy. There are ports for additional fans on all sides, but the stock fans alone do a fantastic job for me. Interior of case is equivalent to a standard mid-tower.

Cons: I accidentally bought a 9800gtx vid card which was about 1.5 inches too long for the case. Returned it for a 9800gt and it fit fine. Cords and labeling for the front USB and audio ports is pretty poor; the front port cords are very short.

Other Thoughts: In terms of bang for the buck I definitely feel this HTPC case has got to be in the top 3 here at newegg.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor design and support

Pros: Good looking case, seems to stay pretty cool.

Cons: The 5.25" drive bays are a joke. Poorly designed and nearly impossible to use. I even called for support and they couldn't tell me how to get their rail system to work. Turns out the screws they use with the rail system catch on the rails locks.

Other Thoughts: I like the case but will never buy another one. Trying to get a DVD drive installed is near impossible and it's supposed to be tool-less mounting.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME

Pros: I love the fact that the PSU is NOT by the CPU.
Tons of room for your mobo
Cover comes off easy with the use of 1 button.
GREATEST COOLING ABILITY EVER
VENT HOLES LOCATED IN PERFECT PLACES
I love desktops because of easy access and my Mobo and my PSU size CPU cooler are not hanging in a tower case

Cons: No instructions
Cable are all individualized
People always cry about power supplies being cheap in cases they buy , NEWS FLASH 95% of all cases that come with a PSU SUCK. Good PSU costs 100+ ( SeaSonic ect.. )

Other Thoughts: I love desktops because of easy access and my Mobo and my PSU size CPU cooler are not hanging in a tower case vertically. TIRED OF TOWERS

4 out of 5 eggsDecent HTPC case

Pros: Case has a nice look, and is built good and solid. Very quiet running. Plenty of cooling built-in.

Cons: A little bigger than I wanted, yet still a little tight getting all the cables hooked up inside.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to build a home-brew DVR / media center, so I needed something plenty quiet. This definitely fits that bill. It's a little bigger than I thought it would be (although it should have been obvious from the photos). Even with the extra size, it was a little challenging getting all the cables hooked up inside. I didn't add any extra fans or anything and it runs plenty cool.

4 out of 5 eggsNot too shabby

Pros: Very nice case that's fairly compact and is fairly easy to customize depending on your needs. I was able to put in the guts from my Dimension 4550 with minimal difficulty.

Cons: Front panel wiring...ugh. Labeling on the leads themselves is a little sketchy and the documentation (a business card sheet of paper) doesn't help much. I've never done any kind of case modding or anything beyond installing a new hard drive, but I was able to connect the power button, power LED and HDD LED after some trial and error. The headphone jack was done in the same way, but the rest escapes me. But, really the power button is the only thing that you need, so if you can find that, you should be OK.

Theo only other con that I found upon unboxing was that even though the description says 2 internal 3.5" bays AND 1 3.5" external bay, this is definitely not the case. In reality, it has 1 internal 3.5" and another 3.5" bay that can be either internal OR external (so only 2 total rather than the 3 the description makes it sound like). But in reality, I can't even remember the last time I used my floppy drive, so I can't say I was that broken up about getting rid of it.

Other Thoughts: I can't really speak to its cooling ability or anything like that because I've never really kept track of anything like that. I did install another fan in there to just for good measure. I think the two that were in there would have done the job. The problems I had with this case were largely related to Dell's proprietary parts like the front panel wiring and fan configuration (that yells at you if the factory fan isn't plugged into the motherboard). Like I said, though, really the only drawback to the actual case itself is the difficult front panel wiring. The power supply wasn't compatible with my Dimension 4550 motherboard, but I was able to install the Dimension's PS in its place. Overall, its a good case and made my first case transfer experience a pretty decent one, even for a beginner like me.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Clean design. Fairly easy to access. Comes with plenty of ventilation.

Cons: installing optical drives was a little tough, i guess. Power supply makes some noise. Otherwise, no complaints

Other Thoughts: great case for the price.

2 out of 5 eggsAthenatech Black SECC Steel A3712BB.450 ATX Media Center

Pros: Nice case well laid out, substantial feel.

Cons: USB pins are impossible to understand, documentation is a ~2x3 inch piece of paper that is equallyconfusing.

Other Thoughts: I emailed (no response) and called ( number disconnected) for help. As the company provides no support, so it would be foolish to purchase anything from them again.
