4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 300W PSU. Solid frame and panels. Good case overall. Does the job asked of it.

Cons: Like the others have said, cables are kind of a pain and you can't fit an IO plate in the back.

All three of the fans in the front died on me after about 7-8 months... however, to the case's defense, I did keep it in my apartment's laundry room and never dusted/de-linted it.

Other Thoughts: Most Atom and Via motherboards will fit in no problem, but any board that you can put a CPU into will require an low profile heat sink and fan.

5 out of 5 eggsThe little box that could

Pros: There is a internal mounting bracket for the drive...that can either take 1 3.5" or 2 2.5"...very cool...I have 2 SSD in it. I also love that this case will fit a motherboard with the tall audio jack port, other cases, tell you to use select motherboards.

Cons: I agree with the other person, about the IO shield...and the cable management...I think if Athena would have made a power supply with a shorter 24pin connector...it would be perfect, I am sure they were either playing it safe...or the power supply they used was not so engineered for the case ??...not a big deal for me...

Other Thoughts: If it would have been one inch deeper ..I think the cables would be less of a problem...look at getting angled SATA cables for the hard drives...will be easier. I am going to have to add a tiny fan to my Zotac motherboards chipset chip...my Core2 Quad is fine...but the chipset it crazy hot, probably because of bad circulation. I plan on getting 3 more of these.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job.

Pros: Small, but you can fit a little beast in it.

Great if you are collocating and want to cram as much power in to as little space as possible to save on rent.

Cons: Though intrinsic to the 1U form-factor, I take away 1/2 an egg because it didn't come with alternate rear IO plates. Standard replaceable plates don't fit.

Another 1/2 egg because of how the cables need to be routed. Any way you do it causes inefficient air flow.

Other Thoughts: Using it as a back-up web server.

Crammed a Core 2 Quad, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB HDD in this little guy. A shorter heat sink than the stock Intel one is needed to fit in this. Rosewill RCX-Z775-LP does the trick and it's fairly cheap. Don't even think about over-clocking.

However, I would recommend not doing this unless kept in a well cooled environment.

Total build ~$700. Probably not the cheapest build, but keeping it in a 1U form-factor saves a ton on monthly collocation rent.
