HTPC 6000

The HTPC 6000 series was designed for one purpose: allowing users to build their dream HTPC system in a truly CE-looking chassis with all standard components. At first glance, the daring appearance of its exterior design looks and matches your other AV devices. On the other hand, the interior design of the HTPC 6000 is able to accommodate all standard HTPC components; and more importantly, it supports up to six hard drives to meet extended data storage needs. The HTPC 6000 series is one of the best-selling HTPC chassis in North America.

Combining silence, style, easy media access, and an affordable price, the HTPC 6000 series is a state-of-the-art media center. If that wasn't enough, the HTPC 6000 includes all the options for a 20 x 2 LCD Media Center Display. Combine that with our new HTPCKB-100 wireless Keyboard and IR Universal TV Remote set, and the complete build will no doubt provide the ultimate digital home solution.

Reasons for the New Design of The HTPC 6000
  • Aluminum panel with a clean look and behind-door connection ports
  • More hard drive spaces to meet increased data storage needs
  • Supports full height / length PCI devices and video graphic card, no wiser card needed, no blocking with optical drives or hard drives
  • Excellent air flow and quiet fans keep the noise and heat low
  • Presently maintains the compact size of previous chassis. Especially the depth (no need to dig a hole in the back of your rack!). 17in. wide is the standard AV box size, but it is an amazing thing to support all standard PC components in a 6.3in. (H) x 15.4in. (D) chassis
  • Easy Installation. Move the PSU back to the normal position. Intelligently designed architecture simplifies your installation - it's easy as 1-2-3.

Fully-Functional Front Media Input Module
We want to serve all your new digital media needs upfront (without having our end users turn the entire case around to find connection ports on the back). All our new models will offer you:
  • High Definition Audio Ports: Mic and Earphone (also AC 97 compliance)
  • All-in-One USB 2.0 Card Reader: Supports all high capacity and speed memory card (SDHC 2.0 compliance)
  • USB 2.0 Ports: X 2

Offering an Affordable, Stylish AV Case
Again, we achieve the best balance in size, functions, cost and simple design. It looks like an AV device, definitely not a PC - not even close.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case for many HDDs

Pros: Very smart layout for use of 6 HDDs and an SSD all mounted at same time, great room even with my full ATX mobo. Everything was put in in a breeze.

Cons: Only downside is tight spaces and lack of cable management options. Luckily I'm not using all my hard drive bays so I can push cables in there.

4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful case if not a little tight

Pros: Beautifully designed case with nice exterior features.

Included Front USB 3.0/2.0 and Card reader is extremely useful.

Lots of drive bays and options for routing the wires.

Cons: Quality was a little lacking on interior drive mounts.
SSD Mount gets in the way of the primary PCI-X slot on my board which required me to modify the mounting frame.
HD/DVD Mounting frame was bent out of the box with some of the welds having failed. Didn't bring my build to a halt but I had to consider it when modifying the frame.
Modern Graphics Cards will have a problem with this case.
I had to cut out half the drive bays and cut a notch into the Drive Frame to make room for my GTX980 power connectors. This resulted in my being unable to utilize the SSD Mounts.

The optional LCD doesn't have any support and so doesn't function in modern OS's. If you want to have a programmable LCD front display then you will need to consider modifying in another brand other than the recommended or going with a different case.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great case with good airflow and wire management. It is extremely unobtrusive sitting under my TV Stand.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Looking HTPC case.

Pros: Looks good next to my receiver.
Fits a mini-atx with plenty of room to spare.
LCD screen opening accepts industry standard 2x20 lcd screen so you are not stuck with only getting the LCD they sell. I was able to build my own lcd solution using an lcd backpack to connect to a usb header on the motherboard and using lcd smartie.

Cons: Fans are not completely silent and can be heard when room is quiet.
Slightly larger than expected but looks good
included screws for hard drives do not fit SSD drive. Not that you need to secure an ssd the same as a HD but it is not as secure as I would like it.

Other Thoughts: When I first read the reviews I was a little concerned when I purchased this case but i figured for the price I could accept the previous reviews listed downfalls as adjust my expectations. When I received the case I was pleasantly surprised how easily things went together. I expected to have to do a lot of fudging to get things working but found that not to be the case. The power supply and blu-ray (LG) fit right in without any problems with the door opening. Perhaps they reworked some of the design on newer boxes based on previous comments.

1 out of 5 eggsSimply put, the worst case I have ever owned

Pros: Obeys laws of thermodynaics.

Has not become sentient and attempted to kill John Connor.

Subject to the laws of gravity

Cons: Where to start?

- It's noisy;
- The cabling arrangement is awkward;
- The drive mounting arrangement is horrible;
- The PSU mounting holes aren't aligned;
- The optical drive slot isn't aligned properly;
- The mounting bay is falling apart; and
- It doesn't close properly.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this case for seven months now, and it's been absolutely atrocious. I got this case for my new HTPC, and it's been a nightmare since day one.

The power supply holes aren't in the correct place, meaning the PSU doesn't mount properly (I can get at most three of the four screws in).

There's something in the assembly and construction of the 120mm fan slots and vents which cause fans to make absurd amounts of noise. I've tried three different case fans, and each one is silent outside the case, but makes a horrible WHIRRRRing noise in the case.

To make things worse, the case has lots of vent slots in the top and the sides, meaning any noise from the CPU fan or rear case fans emit from the case more easily.

The slots to mount the hard drives have the cabling end of the drives face each other (i.e., the front of the drives face the sides of the case, and the backs of the drives face each other). This means that if you get this case, a PSU with detachable cabling is a NECESSITY, not simply preferable.

The detachable mount for the optical drive and internal hard drive bays is poorly constructed, and doesn't properly mount back in place once there's a drive in the bay. I've tried three different optical drives -- all of which work fine in my old SilverStone case -- and none open properly with this case.

Furthermore the top part of the mounting has become detached from the rest of the mounting, meaning that in order to close the case I need to put the top in place, jam a screwdriver down in one of the top air vents and push down, while I simultaneously slide the case top forward into place.

In the past I've purchased Antec and SilverStone cases for my desktop machines and HTPCs. I was distracted by how nice this case looked, the price, and the generally positive reviews. I was mistaken.

Don't buy this case. I've been building my systems from parts for about 20 years now, and I can honestly say that this is the worst case I've ever owned. Spend a few extra bucks for a nicer case with better design and save yourself the hassle of a poorly designed and constructed case.

3 out of 5 eggsA fair priced solution to HTPC

Pros: Not a bad case for a HTPC build, Fits well in my entertainment centre , Full size ATX micro ATX format solid build, pleasing to the eye

Cons: Before you start your build ... make sure you have a good supply of band aids. Inside panels extremely sharp. Removable dvd hdd sub frame twisted. You can not use a fan / heat sink assay any larger than 92mm or it will foul on the ATX power supply. I have a 1/2" gap between the heat sink and the bottom fan of the PS. I found the rosewill 92 mm unit a good fit on a micro ATX socket 775

Other Thoughts: Comes with 2 x 80mm rear fans and 1 x 120mm side fan but theres an option / mounting point to fit another 120 mm fan at your expense should you wish ( i thought that was a bit cheap ) charge another couple of bucks and stick another fan in the box, But for what you pay its worth it

5 out of 5 eggsOver 1 Year, Still Great!

Pros: Durable Construction

Cons: HDD Light port blocked by paint

Other Thoughts: This system has worked well, the power button can be easily activated with my foot so it's easy to turn on if you are by the TV. The case has great airflow when I am using it as a HTPC or gaming on it.

After 1 year, I am very pleased with this product.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: It looks beautiful, it fits any and all components perfectly, it's got a ton of ventilation options, and if you're looking to fit PC components into a home theater environment, you can't do much better.

Cons: Not many, really. The front panel only has the one USB connection that's NOT USB3. Basically, it has a USB3 and a USB2 connection on front, and if you don't have one of those 20-pin USB3 headers on the board you use, you're out of luck without an adapter.

Other Thoughts: The less-than-popular USB3 connector seems...out of place. But beyond that, it's amazing.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: As advertised, great case decent amount of room inside to hold all your gear, pay attention to CPU cooler size and upgrade the rear 80mm case fans so you don't have to deal with the molex connectors.

Cons: cable management is a pain when using all the hard drive bays. and the aluminum door is a bit jankie.

Other Thoughts: this case appears to have been used prior to me receiving it, some of the screens on the drive bay are stripped and the back of the cover was bent and scratched. that is why it only get 2 eggs.
