HTPC 6000

The HTPC 6000 series was designed for one purpose: allowing users to build their dream HTPC system in a truly CE-looking chassis with all standard components. At first glance, the daring appearance of its exterior design looks and matches your other AV devices. On the other hand, the interior design of the HTPC 6000 is able to accommodate all standard HTPC components; and more importantly, it supports up to six hard drives to meet extended data storage needs. The HTPC 6000 series is one of the best-selling HTPC chassis in North America.

Combining silence, style, easy media access, and an affordable price, the HTPC 6000 series is a state-of-the-art media center. If that wasn't enough, the HTPC 6000 includes all the options for a 20 x 2 LCD Media Center Display. Combine that with our new HTPCKB-100 wireless Keyboard and IR Universal TV Remote set, and the complete build will no doubt provide the ultimate digital home solution.

  • Aluminum panel with a clean look and behind-door connection ports
  • More hard drive spaces to meet increased data storage needs
  • Supports full height / length PCI devices and video graphic card, no wiser card needed, no blocking with optical drives or hard drives
  • Excellent air flow and quiet fans keep the noise and heat low
  • Presently maintains the compact size of previous chassis. Especially the depth (no need to dig a hole in the back of your rack!). 17in. wide is the standard AV box size, but it is an amazing thing to support all standard PC components in a 6.3in. (H) x 15.4in. (D) chassis
  • Easy Installation. Move the PSU back to the normal position. Intelligently designed architecture simplifies your installation - it's easy as 1-2-3.
Fully-Functional Front Media Input Module
We want to serve all your new digital media needs upfront (without having our end users turn the entire case around to find connection ports on the back). All our new models will offer you:
  • High Definition Audio Ports: Mic and Earphone (also AC 97 compliance)
  • All-in-One USB 2.0 Card Reader: Supports all high capacity and speed memory card (SDHC 2.0 compliance)
  • USB 2.0 Ports: X 2
Offering an Affordable, Stylish AV Case
Again, we achieve the best balance in size, functions, cost and simple design. It looks like an AV device, definitely not a PC - not even close.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful!

Pros: VERY well constructed, sturdy, and absolutely beautiful. It matches the look of my A/V components perfectly.

Hard drive cage pivots up and out for easy access. 120mm fan on side with space for second one on the other side (which I did install), blows directly across the drive cage, with space for up to 6 drives.

Plenty of space and excellent air flow. CPU temp running 39-42C with the unit inside a media cabinet that only has a couple inches of space around it.

Cons: Very deep. If you're placing this in a media cabinet, you should probably pick up right angle power connector and HDM adapter if you're using HDMI for A/V output, as that buys you an extra inch or two to slide it back into the cabinet. Also very heavy. Nearly 17 pounds empty, and 25 to 30 pounds once components are added.

Other Thoughts: Stock case has an LED in the right side window which reads "HOME THEATER PC", which looks pretty good. But, pick up the optional LCD screen to go in there, its definitely a good upgrade as it can be programmed to display a lot of critical information.

This thing is unlike any computer case I've ever seen. I love the look and functionality of it!

4 out of 5 eggsLooks nice, OK quality

Pros: It's sleek, the size of an A/V receiver, it holds a bunch of drives, and you can take in cold air for your psu through the perf side. Most of the edges are rolled so you don't get cut. Great looking htpc case. Everything comes apart relatively easily so you can build with lots of room.

Cons: Not all the edges are rolled (rear panel). Rear panel is flimsy, and the top cover was a very snug, poorly machined fit. One of the pci bracket screws was misaligned with the cover and bent the cover back in that place - obviously done at the factory. Front aluminum push button panel feels like an unfinished product - compared to the Lian Li case I'm transferring from (PC-B25), it's junk.

Overall, just not a lot of attention to detail.

Other Thoughts: To be honest, I didn't expect a whole lot from this case other than that it looks good from the front and fits in my tv/entertainment stand. Most of the cons are just me being used to having a Lian Li case (i.e.= near perfect manufacturing). But this is really the only case in it's priceline that looks this great from the front, and that's worth it to me.

Also, I didn't get the newer version with the blu-ray logo. No big deal, but a little deceptive in the advertising when you publish photos of one thing but ship another product. Evidently there are two versions of this chassis and Newegg shipped me an old one - again, just a let down of expectations.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Case

Pros: It's just an all around strong case. I'm building a display wall PC for my company and we wanted something low profile that could still fit an ATX motherboard. The machine is a beast with 32GB of ram, 2 MATOX M9188 GPU's controlling 16 80' monitors and it still runs cool with stock fans. It's a great looking strong media center case.

Cons: I guess it would be nice if the HD plates could be removed but it wasn't anything I couldn't work around.

Other Thoughts: I would suggest using a modular power supply because I can see things getting pretty tight otherwise

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The case looks nice

Cons: For as big as this case is, it does not fit my Radeon 5850. We are talking about a matter of maybe 5 mm difference to allow it to fit. This is extremely unfortunate because my media PC also runs several emulators that require the better graphics performance.

Case screws aren't universal which is annoying

Fairly unintuitive design overall.

Front face feels very cheap and flimsy

3 out of 5 eggsFair, for the size

Pros: I got this case to be a media center PC / storage array in one. It looks similar to a component which tricks people which is what I was going for. Internally the HDD bays have rubber bumpers that let you slide in HDDs without screws. I love this feature!

Ample size and design are what this is for. It also has easy tool-less screws to seal the lid.

Cons: The power button feels a bit flimsy. It's not terrible but it's not so high quality. It's almost overly deep and big. It could slim down while keeping the same storage and help.

Other Thoughts: Be sure you want all of the bays. If you do this might still be one of the better options but also verify where you'll set this. It won't fit in many, depth wise, TV stands. It's larger than a standard size audio receiver and deeper. I can barely fit it on an open shelf TV stand.

4 out of 5 eggsnMEDIAPC 6000B

Pros: This case has sturdy construction. It definitely doesn't feel light and flimsy. Very clean, eye appealing look to it. At first glance, it looks like it might be your home theater receiver, and not a HTPC.

Cons: As many have mentioned, cable management is a disaster. Cable for the chassis fan is only 3 pin, I have a 4 pin connector on my board. Same cable is also not long enough to reach the plug on my board, so I had to switch sides and move my hard drive around. Again, as many others have mentioned, the placement of holes for drives, particularly the optical drive, is terrible and may require you to do some drilling or modifications to get your screws securely into your drive. Another optical drive issue is that you may have to remove the door for it from the case so your tray will slide in and out properly, as I did.

Other Thoughts: This case is big. Like, as big as an audio receiver big. My fault for not paying attention to the dimensions. However, it does have a nice clean look to it. A little more documentation around the front panel connectors would be very beneficial for some, in regards to what plugs they go to on the board. I would imagine that one day nMEDIA will hire a QA person to work for them, which will result in terminations for a lot of people. All in all, this is a pretty decent case, especially if you can catch it on sale.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent budget HTPC case

Pros: This is a nice budget HTPC case that has room for several hard drives, a full size disc drive, a standard PSU and full ATX motherboards. Of course with all of the room necessary for the afore mentioned items, the case is on the large size. The case looks nice when positioned with the rest of the home theater equipment .

Cons: Build quality is a little low on this case, there are some loose or poorly fitted pieces, the screw holes for the disc drive do not line up with the holes on the drive itself, it can be a bit tricky to get the drive to line up and open without getting hung up. The fans that come with the case are a little loud considering the small amount of air they seem to move. Now a few extra minutes of tinkering and some new fans are all it took to get this case the way I wanted it, but some people may not want to do any work to a brand new case.

Other Thoughts: I chose this case because it looks nice and as if it belongs in a home theater setup, it can fit all standard size components and it was a good price at the time of purchase. There is an older version with only USB 2.0 on the front panel but the new version has one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0. This case does not come with the LCD panel for the front, but it would be really nice if it did. I don't think it would be worth the extra $35 but it may make this case a little more appealing to others.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

Pros: Ok I gambled on this case. I was wanting to buy a more expensive case but just didn't have the money. This case came as a total surprise. Nice looking, lots of room, easy to configure.

Cons: Only con I can really think of is the power button. It is made to look like a volume control. It is very large and feels a little cheap.

Other Thoughts: I changed out the 120MM fan in front to Fractal design silent and added a seconded Fractal design silent fan. In the back I replaced the 80MM because they were molex pins and I wanted 3/4 pin connectors for my motherboard. I am still waiting on a new CPU cooler I broke my old one when changing cases. My system is an old gaming rig that I am repurposing for a HTPC
XFX 790i
Intel Q9550 OC to 3.4ghz
ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2, CPU Cooler
Kingston HyperX 1600mhz 8gb Ram
Asus DVD drive

Seagate 500gb drive

4 out of 5 eggsPretty but aggravating

Pros: The case has clean lines and a great look especially when paired with the matching lcd info screen. It also has decent air flow and is rather quiet.

Cons: The removable drive bay rack can be a pain to work with. Cable management needs to be well thought out, and be prepared to fine tune the placement of the DVD drive.

2 out of 5 eggsWasn't expecting much but still was disappointed

Pros: * Relatively low price
* Comes with a card-reader
* More bays than most HTPC cases

Cons: * Case arrived with a loose front-panel (I just re-glued it).
* Needed to file down the opening of the 5.25in drive in * order for my drive to eject.
* The chassis for the mounts are not ideal (Be aware you will be hard-pressed to mount six 3.5in drives in the case, more like four)
* Feels cheaply made
* Expansion slots poorly line up with a uATX board (despite stating compatibility)
* I/O front panel is defective (the brushed aluminum front panel has a hinged door that should based on a pressure lock-mine is defective but I am going to try and fix or mod it)

Other Thoughts: I bought this realizing that it was not going to be a high-end case. That being said, I am still thoroughly disappointed. Several defects right out the box. Difficult time mounting drives due to the less than ideal placement of screw holes in the chassis (see Cons for specific details)
