Xion skimped on nothing when it made the XON-980-BK gaming case: all the options were included, all the requirements exceeded, and it's a knockout value. They started with the basics -- the fans. The designers went big for maximum airflow with two 120mm red LED front fan and a 120mm rear fan. Not content with that though, extra fan mounts on side panel for 2x 120mm fans or 1x 220mm fan, on top for 2x 120mm fans for dual radiators liquid cooling. With features such as black internal finish for sleek look, front panel USB 3.0 connectivity and removal HDD cage to fit extended performance graphic card, this case is a great choice when you build your dream system.

  • newegg Exceptional Cooling The XION XON-980-BK case comes equipped with two 120mm front red LED fan, one 120mm rear fan and large honeycomb steel mesh design with filters for optimal airflow and prevent dust from entering.
  • newegg Water Cooling Support The retention holes provided at the rear of chassis allow easy water cooling setup and maintenance while dual radiators for liquid cooling can be mounted on the top inside the case.
  • newegg Easy Drive installation The removal HDD pull-out cage makes for easy installation and large storage capacity for 7 HDDs.
  • newegg Bottom Mounted PSU The bottom mounted PSU design enables independent and optimized cooling.
  • newegg I/O Front Panel Two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 port, two audio ports located at the front panel allow easy access to a variety of peripherals.

4 out of 5 eggsHighly recommend this case

Pros: - Extremely well thought out and designed
- Support for front panel HD audio, including separate AC'97 header
- Support for both USB 2.0 AND USB 3.0 font panel connectors
- Bottom mount power supply supports both standard and inverted mounting and is excellently designed
- Surprisingly excellent fit with *all* components
- Absolute perfect alignment on all screw holes
- Super simple easy to use Drive bays support both SSD and 3.5" spindle drives. The spindle drive mounts are screwless and an absolute joy to mount and install.
- Cable management is amazing with little cable management holes and zip tie mounts and brackets in literally *all* the perfect places. I'd post photos if I could about how perfect it is.
- Liquid cooling mounts and options for both CPU and GPU a plus
- Comes with air filters to help keep that nasty dust out of your system.
- Motherboard standoff's integrated into case for standard ATX form factors which is nice because you don't have to install them and additional standoff's provided in bolt bag for E-ATX form factor cases.

Cons: - The gauge of the steel used in it's construction is a hair on the flimsy side.

Other Thoughts: Mine came out of the box with one corner of the side panel bent and I had to bend it back. It bends too easily. It can support the weight of equipment inside but it does feel suspiciously like someone was trying to shave a few pennies off production costs by using steel that's a little too thin but then I'm partial to the full tower cases of the 90s that were built like tanks. On the other hand it does make the case lighter and easier to carry. I'd gladly have paid more for something that is a little heavier duty.

The case is not super tall but is super deep which can be nice depending on the space in which it will live but keep that in mind and make sure you review the dimensions. I was specifically looking for something that could handle E-ATX gear so I knew what I was getting but the photo does make it look smaller than it really is.

Also the air filter covering power supply air intake when power supply mounted right side up (fan down) is spaced off the frame by about 1/4" and not sure what the point of having a dust cover is if there is a 1/4 gap there.

It would also be nice if the rest of the air intakes (front/top/etc..) also had filters.

All in all this is a very well designed well thought out case with precision machining. I would definitely buy one of these again and probably will in the near future.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Case

Pros: Very roomy. Bigger than my old TTm60. Two front 120MM and one rear 1200MM fans provide very good airflow through the case. The drive bays are nice and easy to remove without tools.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: The added area up top for a 240MM Liquid cooler is very nice., I've mounted a Coolermaster 240m Seidon up there and it fits perfectly and still leaves plenty of room above the motherboard and ram slots. I'll probably buy another one of these next time I need another case.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Ordered this case because it supported a dual fan liquid cooling system at a decent price. Fans are quiet and everything was easy to install with lots of room.

Cons: Only two minor cons and the reasons why it didn't get 5 stars. The plastic for the screw holes to support the radiator for the cooling system were a little thick so i had to buy longer screws to screw in the radiator and not a big fan of the reset button on it. I have bumped it a few times. It protrudes out a hair and is a bit big. minor design flaw.

2 out of 5 eggsBad Case

Pros: Looks cool

Cons: Fans are only on off

Other Thoughts: This case is built inexpensively but is stylish. The start button was defective. Stuck in closed position. Almost scrapped a good mb. After hours of testing and having expert computer repair, I found the culprit. I hope Newegg or Xion will make this right and send me a replacement switch. I am using the reset switch to power on.

4 out of 5 eggsgood space few cons

Pros: i dont think im super techy but this case is quite large fit a asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0 quite well the top mounted radiator works will with the coolermaster seidon 240m(see cons) front plate is easily removed case itself has heft to it the tooless side panel is nice(see cons)and the dvd drive comes with anti vibration was nice as well cable management is tight yes but zip ties work nicely and for the most blend in with the case the hard drives are mounted fairly new most of the sata ports(only need a foot at the longest and make sure there the angled for straight jobs!) the hard drive bays are tooless for 3.5 hdd(or sshd for those of high speed ppls)easily takin in and out for 2.5 they have to screw in from the bottome bracket

Cons: cons i hate these segments anyway the screws on the back have began weaing away some of the paint(mainly because i keep opening it up look at stuff think wishful thoughts and slap it back on)the hooks that connect the side pannel are somewhat thin and bend easily(have bent on me but i was one of those children that put squares into circles all good) the filter for the 220mm fan(the rosewill fan seems to be the only besides the koolance $30 job not cool) seem to impede airflow (see other thoughts) the radiator for the coolermaster was a pain in the rear to put in for the simple fact the seidon came with too short screws for the top(warning the steel mesh on top is a tad thick)had to use some screws from the old bracket the amd board had to replace will need some more of them puppies works for now

Other Thoughts: the filter for the psu seems to be to far away a good finger width away i understand why this is to not impede most airflow to the psu to get maximum makes sense but at the same time not a grip just a weird thought overall quality semi decent worth the cash a mid atx case that can hold a large profile graphics card (asus hd 7970 directcuII) but the features are great and roomy not a horrid case there are better ones but u will be hard pressed to find it will they make a red after market 220mm case luckily i can sauder and cruise forums and how to so it was an easy fix (its encased in hot glue) decent case if ur thinking of getting it by all means its roomy can fit a evo 212 (without 220mm fan of course thinner profile dangit!) so would i suggest it yes will i buy another one prolly not (whole try different cases urges are to great to endure)

4 out of 5 eggsbetter than expected for the money

Pros: Huge case, much larger than I expected. This is a great thing actually except that I need to rearrange my room now to find a place for it lol. The fans are all VERY quiet. Plenty of wire pass throughs and lots of drive space.

Cons: Would have much preferred a 4pin fan wiring setup on the fan controls so I could use the fans with my mother board controls while keeping the on and off switching of the case controls, instead I have to track down 4 pin and molex connectors to wire it myself... Left side usb 3 port was slightly bent in, easy fix but seemed like it should have been right already. Power and reset buttons are a bit wobbly and should have been more crisp with less play.

3 out of 5 eggsGood case, poor QA, updated review

Pros: Case is spacious, very well ventilated, can fit extended ATX motherboards, comes with front-panel USB, case speaker, power supply sits on dampeners. Comes with fans. Has four buttons to toggle fans on and off. All the wiring for switches, activity and power lights are sheathed and seem sturdy, with adequate length for any regular length ATX motherboard. Comes with two lit front fans, and an unlit rear fan.

Can easily fit an 11.5 inch graphics card, and I suspect 13.0 would fit without issue. The PSU is bottom-mount, which just feels better. Very few people like the heaviest thing in the case sitting above all the fragile innards, held stationary by four 1/4-inch screws on a single side.

The filters that it comes with aren't impressive, but they are removable, and seem durable enough to rinse and re-use plenty. It won't keep the inside of a case dust-free, by any means, but it should help keep it cleaner for longer, and keep the intake fans mostly-protected.

Thumbscrews secure both side panels, which is always appreciated.

Cons: Poor quality assurance. While I've not seen a single issue with build-quality, my case shipped without ANY optical disk drive screws (which, while these aren't proprietary, you probably don't have any laying around, and they are required to secure the ODDs), and most egregiously without any motherboard screws. Came with 5 PSU screws, and that's it. Possibly adding to cons, standoffs are pre-installed at factory and cannot be removed by hand (possibly at all), possibly shorting-out motherboards that don't fit the layout. However, they fit my MSI Z87-G45 spot-on, nearly as I can tell in the absence of screws.

Other Thoughts: I found out today that machine metric m3-.50 x 6 screws fit the standoff threading, and that my hardware store only keeps 4 in stock. :/ Shipping the accessories box with missing parts is the sole reason I deducted two eggs. I'm now faced with canabalizing computers which are in-service for whatever motherboard screws I dare (assuming the threading matches), or else waiting days (likely until next week) for the screws that should have been included.

3 out of 5 eggsgood but annoying

Pros: its big, the fans are red, and it fits my h100 perfect (wish they said somewhere it could fit a h110 though, i would have bought the h110 instead)

Cons: here we go. for starters, it took me a very long time to get the side panel to fit with all the cabling back behind the mb. its as if they didnt give enough room, i mean, my 24 pin connecter was almost too wide for it. Also, i dont like the stock fans. theyre nice and move a lot of air, but theyre louder than everything else in my case.

5 out of 5 eggsXON 980

Pros: Great case, attractive, can you really have too many fans??place a fan everywhere in this case with great ventilation. Very large was impressed with size. Hours of shopping and this is the case I settled on with what i wanted to spend.

Cons: Fan controls are pointless, power button and reset are sensitive to the touch and accidentally bumped them a few times. my PSU wires are a little tight in the back and had to fiddle with them a little getting them to position correctly to get the right side panel to sett correctly.

Other Thoughts: was iffy on the buy, i don't purchase out of my brands often but this was a good buy for the price. I recommend but if you can shed the extra $$$ buy something better.
