Prepare to plunder online worlds with the Black Pearl from ABS. This case has an innovative design which put the PSU cage at the bottom. This puts one of the heaviest items in the system at the lowest point improving the balance and minimizing the risk of the system tipping over. To minimize any heat issues there is a vent on the back panel above the PSU mount and divider panels partitioning the case.

Also in the lower section are two removable drive cages that can hold 4x3.5" hard drives each. This gives you plenty of room for RAID arrays and other multi-drive configurations. A 120mm fan pushes plenty of air across the drives keeping them cool. Up top are 7x5.25" drive bays, one of which has a 3.5" adapter for floppy drives. This gives you plenty of room for optical drives, fan and audio controllers or other add on you want.

This full tower case can take both standard and extended ATX form factor mobos. The aluminum construction minimizes weight without compromising strength. The front panel has a 4 channel fan controller with speed and temperature display so you can tell what's going on inside your system at a glance.

  • newegg All Aluminum Case Featuring a high-class all aluminum construction, the ABS Aplus-CS-Black Pearl is an amazing mix of aesthetics and utility and reaches the balance between chassis stiffness and heat dissipation.
  • newegg Supreme Expandability Featuring seven 5.25" external drive bays, and nine 3.5" drive bays (one external and eight internal), the ABS Aplus-CS-Black Pearl provides supreme expandability.

5 out of 5 eggsThis case makes the impossible possible!

Pros: This is the case of your dreams.
This case can fit ANY size motherboard including server motherboards.
The case is HUUUUGGGEEE with plenty of room for ANY type of project.
6 CD-Drive Bays
1 Floppy Bay which can be converted to a 7th Cd- Drive Bay.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC airflow
Plenty of room for ANY choice of cooling, especially water cooling.
Superbly Manufactured Anodized Aluminum (Solid Aluminum) that is not thin anywhere, it is THICK aluminum.
Because of the Thick aluminum this case is both Lightweight and Sturdy AND the case is one giant heatsink.
The corrugated Side panel allows you to see your components while cooling your components and is much more durable than a plastic window, not to mention more stylish.
This case has the option for screwless installation of the CD-Drive bays and I do use the feature. They can also be removed if you prefer screws. It feels less sturdy than screws but it's been holding my cdrom for over a year just fine.
Pros continued in the Con's

Cons: Now get this, The motherboard has it's own airflow chamber. The hard drives have their own airflow chamber which flow into the power supply chamber where there is spots for two more fans to move more air.
There is a plate on the back that the PSU/optional fans screw into. This plate is easily removed with some black screws that camouflage right into the case, this allows you to install the rear fans in an a way which would otherwise make installing those fans near impossible. Easily reinstalled back onto the case, making the impossible possible.
With my recent upgrade I've since used up most of the hard drive bays and it's still amazing to me that I can fit that many hard drives. This case has room for 8 hard drives, and I currently have 7 installed. I've noticed that my computer now works as a heater for my room.

I WISH TO CONTINUE LISTING PRO'S BUT I'VE RUN OUT OF LETTERS. NEWEGG SAYS I'M AT MY LIMIT, SO I MUST GO. BUY THIS CASE IF YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cons listed in "other th

Other Thoughts: Cons: (if you could be stressed to come up with any)
DISCONTINUED
I bought this case for an amazing 100$

There is a tab, meant to hold the PSU in place which is placed too low. I could not fit my PSU in the case originally. My solution, break off the stupid tab!
Tooless Design tricks you to not thinking it's study, but it is sturdy!
My fan controller has a bit of a mind of it's own but it works superb either way.
Cable management relegated to the lower hard-drive/psu chambers rather than behind the motherboard but the side panel covers that to hide any imperfections in your oragami cable technique.
Hard Drives are rather close together so my stiff cables on my PSU felt in danger of breaking once I filled the chamber. I consider this a flaw of my PSU, not the case, Keep it in mind though.
My solution was to use some four-pin dongle to sata converters. Felt a bit sad I was doing that with a modular power supply but nobody would know the difference.

5 out of 5 eggsA Pearl of a Case

Pros: This case is well made, well laid out, and has plenty of space for anything you could need to put in it. The side panels come off easily and fit very well. The two removeable HD racks are a nice feature. The two fans are well placed. I'm using a Vigor Monsoon III in this case and the rear fan and the Monsoon seemed redundant, so I removed the back fan case and placed at the top of the case to cool the GPU. There are plenty of options for cable management.

Cons: The manual is a bit sparse.

Other Thoughts: I fit an ASRock X58 Extreme, MSI GTX275 and the Vigor in here easily.

5 out of 5 eggsBest I've ever had

Pros: Sale price, aluminum everywhere, sectioning, fans, HDD cages, door removal scheme uses 1 thumbscrew and has a loop for a lock. Larger than my Ultra Aluminus case. Very roomy, and its easy to hide most wires. Very modern and clean looking aluminum design.

Not really a pro, but aesthetically, I would say this case is on par with a Mac Pro.

Cons: If you use a power supply with a bottom mount 120mm fan you may have to have the fan facing down which places the fan on the aluminum stand with quarter sized holes in it. Not really a problem, but i would prefer to not have anything restricting airflow to the PSU. Or maybe I am doing something wrong, but the screw holes don't line up even remotely close with the fan facing up.

The only improvements I could think of would be:
-Remove the floppy slot, Its haunting me still in 2009!
-Somehow make the gloss temp. reading panel aluminum!

Other Thoughts: Of the dozens of rigs I have built, this case is by far the nicest. The rounded corners eliminate that cheap looking folded metal most cases have.

5 out of 5 eggsRoomy, lightweight, and spacious

Pros: - Has space for 8 drives
- Separated cavities for PSU, Hard disks, Mainboard
- Fits ATX/EATX/Full size tower heatsinks
- Brushed aluminum

Cons: - Newegg can't decide how much to charge!
- Backlit ABS logo & power/reset buttons look stupid

Other Thoughts: If you don't like the LED's, don't plug 'em in!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Case

Pros: WIDE open access, great airflow, hard drive and Dvd drive access easy.Even with the screened side QUIET.

Cons: Just a LITTLE big,ROTFL. Hangs 6 inches off the front of my desk.We need a bigger boat.

Other Thoughts: When you go through 3-4 mobo changes a year,overclocking them to Xtreme levels,this is the case to have.DFI AM3 ,955@4.0 G ,3.8 24/7,and just 35c-cpu,
37c system,43c chipset,just checked.

1 out of 5 eggsterribly disappointing

Pros: The exterior of the case is a beautiful brushed aluminium with a black anodized finish. The case has a very nice layout with well thought out holes cut in key locations and secured with plastic rings to prevent damage to wires. With a few additional purchases the air flow would be impressive. As close as you can get to Lian Li without emptying your wallet*though i now see why i should never stagger away from lian li again*

Cons: Ohh where to begin, about 15 minutes into the build the fun begins
1: The 5.25in disc drive covers with the push button are next to impossible to remove from the case without scratching the metal of pretty much everything around it, not only that in order to remove them you have to take out every other bay cover and attempt to slide them down to the bottom so you can slide them out...needless to say lots of scratchs will be had
2. The PSU bracket is clearly not compliant with atx power supply standards as i had no choice but to flip the psu upside down and even then could only get 1 hole to line up perfectly which would result in the psu shaking like crazy during use.
3. The mother board stand offs are a nightmare, i attempted 4 times to get my motherboard in the case and every time it resulted in either the standoffs moving with the screw as i would turn it, the screws refusing to go into the stand off resulting with a motherboard basically sitting ontop of the standoffs...or both

Other Thoughts: ~More Cons~
3. The fan shroud, while attempting to remove the fan shroud one of the thumb screws that holds it in place decided to snap in half giving me about 20 minutes worth of fun trying to remove the tiny peice of screw from the threads.
4. The Hdd Cages, while nice and the hdds went in without a problem, the cages are really unsecure and will sway and shake with the slights bit of pressure leading me to believe that if you bumped your case by accident the cage would be prone to collapsing in on itself or vibrating out of control during use.

While i had great things planned for this case, i am currently running caseless on my desk while this "black pearl" is going back in its box until i can put it out with the trash next week, and im currently looking for a new case to work with as ABS clearly cannot fill my needs.

3 out of 5 eggsNothing is perfect

Pros: Plenty of bays. Light. Got it for $98 shipped, easy to work in, feels solidly-built.

Cons: Drive cages severely restrict airflow. Motherboard area "is" a bit cramped. Wires for RST, PWR, HDD LED and PWRLED could stand to be about 4" longer so they can be routed a bit cleaner. Holes separating sections of the case could be a bit closer to the motherboard tray so that they don't "hang" oddly. You must futz with the DVD/CDROM "door" or it will make your ROM Drive go nuts the first time you try to eject a DVD/CD.

Same CPY & Motherboard and Heatsink, installed in the same orientation, runs 16°C cooler in my $39.99 XCLIO case.

Other Thoughts: My other case, re-branded as Koolance, is the same as this one, just a different MFGR on the case

I gave it a "3" because I've seen way better cases that cost half of what I paid for this case.

5 out of 5 eggsJust a fantastic case

Pros: - unbeatable price for what this case delivers. If ever you got it the -$70 coupon, nothing can come close.
- Full aluminium, very clean and neat design, very light
- you feel the quality of construction
- HUGE, HUGE , HUGE, did I say it was a huge case?
- watercooling ready, good plus for the future.
- clean airflow due to the reverse mounting if you respect the rules and add two 120mm on the top. I put all of them at low speed and I have got great temps. I do not understand the critic on the airflow.
- Hard drive cage is very efficient against vibration
- Silent case, you just hear a very light wind noise. my radeon 4870 is the noisiest part when it start to spin at full speed from far.
- great for cable management. they give you all that necessary in the box to make a clean job. basically the only cable are the AC one, you can virtually hide everything
- monitoring lcd works well, a nice addition.

Cons: No blocking cons, just a few details
- not fully screwless, but easy to build due to the space
- not a removable tray for the motherboard, they could have indicated where to put the motherboard support screws
- uselless cpu fan duct if you have a big cpu cooler, you cannot use it.
- documentation is very poor, especially for the monitoring lcd, hopefully we have internet, they coul dhave told where to put the temp cable on the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I did not want this case intially since it was out of my league, i was settled on an HAF 932 even if i did not like the design. I am really glad i got this one instead especially for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Full Tower Case

Pros: 1st thing i thought of when I opened the box was WOW, Lots of room. The solid Aluminum build is sleek and professional.
Good inverted ATX mounting for good airflow.
Space to install 8 Hard Drives, fits a 120mm tower air cooler (must remove the CPU Cooler vent & reverse the 120mm fan as by default it is an intake fan)
Great wire management support, Very Professional style.
Includes motherboard mount screwdriver, small touch but great addition

Cons: 5.25" Drivebay installation was a bit of a pain, the slide down installation was confusing, instruction manual didn't help a lot.
Hard Drive racks are a bit far from the case, requires longer SATA cables than the standard ones provided by MB Manufacturers.

Other Thoughts: Would have liked to see possibly a 24pin power extender as the routing of the cables may be an issue for those with short PSU cables.
Wish they had more than 1 precut hole from the PSU bay to the HD bay that you basically thread everything through to get to the rest of the computer.

3 out of 5 eggs2nd review, 7 months later.

Pros: I get many compliments on my case because of what Ive done to it; white 120mm LED fans, white cathodes, small black tubing on all wires and real clean (almost OCD) cable management.

Cons: I still am not satisfied with the middle panel of the case and the orientation of my HSF. I know it was made for watercooling, but I do not plan to do it and I resorted to experimenting with all my fans. Not many heatsinks will fit unless I get a new motherboard later on where the CPU sits further away from the edge.

Other Thoughts: If I have my VGA in the first PCIe slot, it will trap heat from the CPU right under it causing the whole area to overheat and overclocks become unstable. Moving the VGA to the 2nd PCIe helped because its further up and I have the top 2 fans blowing downward. I also have the rear fan sucking in, a zip tied fan under the DVDR blowing toward the back of the pc, and the heatsink has none. This creates some kind of..vortex? All of the air is being pushed out of the side panel full force, and I think its best this way, but it does bring in quite a bit of dust.

If you purchase this case, I would recommend using wider heatsinks instead of square/circular ones as they will not fit or cut real close to the frame. Something like Thermaltake V1, Thermalright True, Xigmatek Dark Knight, CoolerMaster TX3, Coolermaster Hyper212+, should all fit without a fan and they are large enough to perform good with one.
