1 out of 5 eggsDecent price but low build quality

Pros: -Price
-Size/Interior Space
-Fan/Cooling Options

Cons: -Low build quality
-Sharp edges
-Very thin metal
-Norco support rarely responds to email
-Norco still uses break out PCI slot covers/blanks like you would see in a cheap tower chassis from the mid 90's.

Other Thoughts: Ordered two of these units, both were new, but missing paint on the black parts (front door/front facia). Had to bend the rear panel/rear window to actually line up with multiple motherboards I tried. I had experienced low quality with Norco before and I was silly enough to expect something better this time around. I was wrong again. Just honestly a very low quality chassis. I have since switched over to Supermicro chassis. I just can't deal with this low quality stuff anymore.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: Lots of space.
Lots of air flow
comes with fans installed
lots of room for hard drives
3 5.25 bays are nice

Cons: Can be loud with 6 80 mm fans going at once.

Other Thoughts: I solved the noise issue. I installed a switch on the front panel to turn off half the fans at idle.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat server case

Pros: -the size is awesome
-factory installed 4 fans
-easy to access front drive cages
- 5.25 bays have easy to use drive rails
I dont know what other people are talking about with this being difficult to work with or figure out. Maybe its the fact that i have been building computers for nearly 20 years and understand how cases are setup or that i take my time to review the case before i start ripping it apart to install new hardware. I was pleased with the amount of screws and parts that was shipped with it. The rubber grommets in the HD cages with proper screws was a nice touch. The only sharp edges are where you expect them to be on the cover front edge and midplane top edge for the fans.
The factory fans are not loud at all. currently the system is in my living room with 10 total case fans, 1 CPU fan, 1 VGA fan and 1 PSU fan. I do not need to turn the volume up any louder than before i turned this system on.

Cons: nothing i can think of.

Other Thoughts: If you need to complain about the fans being too loud then you should not be using a SERVER case in an area that has to be quiet enough to hear a mouse fart.If you need to complain about a missing manual for a computer case then you need to find an experienced friend or family member to teach you how to open a case and use a screw driver. We are not talking about rocket surgery here. Just a plain, simple case. Even my wife who has never worked on building a PC was able to work inside with no issues and no manual.

2 out of 5 eggsRPC-470

Pros: - Lots of space
- Easy to work in (no sharp edges)
- Inexpensive
- Quality construction

Cons: This case, or at least the one I got, is too wide by a few millimeters on both sides to be mount with any rails including the Habey and Norco ones in a 19inch rack. For this reason, the case lays on the very bottom of my cabinet rack. I will not buy another as the amount of time and $ I spent trying to get this on rails was to high. Wouldn't recommend.

Other Thoughts: If this case was only a little skinnier it could have been something.. I probably would have bought several of these because they are otherwise very nice for the money.

4 out of 5 eggsMeets expectations

Pros: This case met my expectations. It got my mix of server parts in to my rack, delivers satisfactory cooling, and is acceptable from a noise standpoint.

It has plenty of room for an ATX server motherboard, I don't know about EEB/E-ATX. It takes standard ATX power supplies no problem, I don't know about redundant PSUs. Up front, I was able to install two 3in2 3.5" SATA hot swap cages, a 4in3 SATA hot swap cage, and full size DVD drive with one drive bay left. This was my intended layout. The 2 included 5 in 3 3.5" non hot swap cages are no frills, but useful.

Bottom line: This case has all the room and mounting points you need for DIY server projects with generic components. 5/5

The included 80mm fans run at ~3000RPM. You can feel air moving though the case. I hear the noise with my rack door closed in the same room, but can't hear it anywhere else in the house. Bottom line: This case has the cooling you need without sounding like a hair dryer. Silence snobs need not apply. 4/5

There is plenty of room to work inside the case. There are enough holes in the fan wall to route 4 power supply connectors and ten SATA cables without it looking like a total rat's nest. Even with all the cables in, I can still access all of the drive bays, CPUs, RAM, and expansion slots in my server without moving cables. The front door, lock, and top cover feel pretty solid. I did not encounter any sharp edges while installing in this case. Bottom line: Not a precision engineered complete package, but what a DIY server builder should expect. 4/5

Cons: The RL-26 rails (sold separately) that go with this case DO fit in my rack, but they do not allow the server to slide out far enough to remove the top cover without releasing the latches like you would be completely removing the server from the rack.

This case does have 9 5.35" drive bays in 3 groups of 3 across the front of the case, but the center group of 3 are rotated 90 degrees relative to the outside sets of 3 bays.

Other Thoughts: This case is, for the money, an excellent choice for DIY server builders that need the flexibility of a large number of 5.25" drive bays, full size motherboards, and generic components. Having already invested in hot swap cages for my server, I am pleased with the value, room, and space this case delivers. I just wish Norco would take another look at the RL-26 rails that they specify for this case.

4 out of 5 eggsFor the money

Pros: For the money, it's a good deal. Pretty solid construction. Heavy.

Cons: Back card-slot-bracket areas are flimsy. You have to wiggle the cut-outs and pop them out in order to use the card slots. The metal is thing and is not very tolerant to the bending you have to do to remove the blanks.

Sharp edges are not finger friendly.

Other Thoughts: I built a GPU hashing rig with it and added the "Habey RL-26 26" 3-sections Ball-Bearing Slide Rail". Worked perfectly though it's really heavy.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid case so far

Pros: Good cooling options, like that I have the option to add more fans to the drive cages. There's reasonable space in the chassis. Haven't found many sharp edges in the case, pretty much everything's nicely rounded over. Well packaged, double boxed, with a sheet of cling film over the top and bottom of the case to prevent scratches.

Cons: Found a cable to the fan wall having a nick in the coating. Not enough to ship it back but will require some tape. Kindof annoying that it doesn't come with any instructions. There's box of parts that I had no idea what some of it was until I looked at the case itself and figured some of them were for the locking slides on the expansion bays.

Other Thoughts: I needed this to convert a tower into a rack mount system. For what I paid I am happy with the purchase so far.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth the purchase

Pros: This thing can hold 11 hot swap bays, If you buy the right add-ins. Which Norco Offers. Such as the SS-400 & SS-300.
Minimal raw machined edges, most were folded over.
Great reusable (plastic) dust filter. Easy swap fans inside.

Cons: Pointed out by many, no literature. Most of the system is self explanatory so is it really needed?

This point dropped it An Egg. The removable fan harness has very low amperage wiring. I am worried about burning it out, especially since it is almost 70% the size of the wires on the fans. Put some higher gauge wire on it, and maybe smoother seating connectors and this Rackmount would be a 5 Egg in my eyes.

As a note. PF(Power Failure?) and OH cables, the acronyms don't ring a bell. But since they are Led's they are still usable for almost any other LED pin header provided they are connected.

4 out of 5 eggscard expansion needs work

Pros: Great case for server applications. 10 drive bays are great.

Cons: The precut card expansions are not precut very well. Trying to remove them tears up the entire cage as it doesn't take much to bend it to pieces.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's RAM.

Pros: I'm running 16 GB and very stable...

Cons: ...but had to clock down to 1066Mhz which is uncool.

Other Thoughts: I blame Gigabyte and AMD for the memory speed issue but honestly between 1066 and 1600, my clocks show little difference so I live with it.
