5 out of 5 eggsBest All Around Computer Case

Pros: Superb case for casual system builders and professionals. The design as well as all the components and placements are well thought out. No sharp edges to cut you, or jagged points to nick your finger, just a first class design. Even the way the drives and other components including SSD drives are placed and installed is well designed. Minimal vibration from installed components is achieved because of the way the hardware has been designed for this case. In can't go wrong with this case if you read the directions first and understand the design concept of this case!

Cons: No real cons, just wish I had purchased more of them when I bought when they were on sale.

Other Thoughts: This case is very ideal for gamers because it has plenty of ventilation, top bottom front and back. Recommend using a high powered power supply with all the current cabling.

5 out of 5 eggsZalman Z12

Pros: The case was very roomy and it fit my long 10.5" video card without issues. It also comes with 2 slots where you can install SSDs without having to purchase additional adapters.

Cons: Not completely tool-less and they only give you 2 of the expansion slot covers in the back.

Other Thoughts: At the time of purchase there were only 3 reviews and I was worried about the power button issue mentioned by other reviewers. I did not have any problems with it whatsoever.

5 out of 5 eggsZ12

Pros: Roomy, nicely finished case. With five 120mm fans installed it has good cooling/airflow. Generous screw and accessory bundle w/cpu power extension. Neither too thick and heavy or too thin and cheap. USB 3 support via motherboard pin out. Slide out rubber pin mounts for 31/2" drives.

Cons: Knock out expansion bays. Lack of 21/2" ssd support for use inside of 31/2" bays. Top 51/2 drive bay pretty unusable because of the top cable routing. Your 12v cpu power cable has to be pulled through prior to installing a normal width top mounted 120mm fan. Front bezel removal requires a gentle touch, top bezel removal is not so bad.

Other Thoughts: I haven't experienced any power switch problems. Great price with $ off and rebate = low twenties. So comparing it to most low end mid towers it's impossible to beat. Sure it would be nice to have a 200mm top fan mounted fan, a full set of expansion covers and a slide out 21/5 adapter like the 912 haf. But read the details on the product page and know what you are buying before you complain about it. Just wish these companies wouldn't paste there model names on the side of the case. Overall, a really great deal for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsZalman Z12

Pros: Good cable management, side load HDD bays, hidden SSD drive mounting location, solid construction with good ventilation, side panels are not flimsy punched sheet metal as with other low dollar cases. The area around the I/O panel did not flex when popping in the shield which was a nice positive sign the case was going to be nice to work with. The front panel wiring is long enough for almost any motherboard, CPU power connector extension is a nice touch to aid in routing cables out of the way.

Cons: molex connector on rear fan (really, I had to replace it with a different fan to keep from adding the molex string from modular power supply), usb 3 cabling makes for a tight fit with top 5.25 drive bay, power supply filter is nearly useless, only 9 motherboard standoffs included in packaging, needed 10.

Other Thoughts: I was worried when I ordered this case about the reviews concerning the power button. I had the front panel off 4-5 times during the build and have not experienced the issues others have. Other than the need for additional motherboard standoffs the included hardware and cable ties were right on target. I would highly recommend this case based upon my experiences with it. I suggest you take your time when building your system using this case and you will be as happy as I am with it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent case for the money, I was surprised how good it was when it arrived.

The fit and finish is very nice, better than the CoolerMaster 690 I had previously and on par with the Antec 900 I had before that.

Cable management is good, there is plenty of room behind the motherboard tray and plenty of holes to route cables.

The case has dust filters for the front fan, the bottom fan, and the power supply.

Everything else is pretty standard, tool less HDD and optical drive mounting etc.

Cons: Needs better 2.5" mounting. It comes with a 5.25" bay to 3.5" or 2.5" adapter. It also has a 2.5" mount on the back of the motherboard tray. Neither of these are tool less and neither are convenient for 2.5" SSD/HDD installation/removal.

The PCI slots are the break away kind that cannon be put back on. They do include 2 extras that can be attached with screws, one vented and one with a couple holes for wires.

The metal is thinner than higher end cases, but it isn't super thin. It's much better than the other sub $30 cases I've used.

Other Thoughts: It has no mounts for side fans. I think that is a pro as it looks much cleaner with a solid side panel, but others may see it as a con.

A few people posted about power switch problems. I've had no issues at all. The Z12 Plus is the same case with a few extras and the newegg reviews don't mention any power switch problems. There aren't a lot of reviews yet so it could be a risk until proven otherwise.

3 out of 5 eggsOverall nice case - useless power sw

Pros: I would have rated the case 5 stars for design, fit and finish - if not for the power/reset switch design.
All power, drive and panel cables routed behind the MB
Lots of cable routing holes and tie-down loops on the backplane.
All case parts well finished and fitted.
Supplied case fans quiet and effective.

Cons: The power/reset sws are not part of the front panel as shown. Both switches are part of an assembly bolted to front of chassis.
The reset key top is part of this assembly, stays with the sw and works fine. The power keytop is attached by 2 flimsy legs melted on to the plastic front panel. The power sw and keytop move fine when the front is off. When the front panel is in place, the power keytop bottoms out the switch, causing the sw to be activated all the time.
The rear post on the power keytop is too long for the position the power sw is mounted.

Only other gripe is the rear fan being 2-wire/HDD connector. Have modular PS and had to add a PATA cable assembly just to power this fan. Zalman should have used a proper MB powered fan with speed signal.

Other Thoughts: Took off the front panel, installed EVERYTHING and only found prob when front panel reinstalled. Needed the computer now, so put the "reset" leads on the MB "power" pins - works great - don't really need a reset anyway.
When I get time, I will shave the rear pedestal on the power keytop shorter with a drill bit.

Pros: Looks nice and has good airflow design.
Great case for cable management.
Comes with good 120mm fans.
USB 3.0 ports
Sturdy design.

Cons: Power button design is terrible. After about a week of ownership the button no longer engages, it is stuck in an always being pressed position. Had to take the entire front panel off in order to press the power button properly.

With all of the pros this case has having a faulty power button design makes the case utterly useless.

I have attempted to contact Zalman and they are completely unresponsive. Multiple emails sent over the course of 10 days without reply.

Other Thoughts: Great case but completely idiotic that Zalman can't get the most basic of fundamentals done correctly.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,

We sincerely apologize for the issue. Please contact our customer service e-mail or via toll free number 1-888-925-6266 for further assistance.

Thank you.

Best regards,
