4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Unit - but be careful!

Pros: This is a good looking and well built unit. I have had my unit for 3 years. I have rebuilt it twice, and it still looks as good as new. It looks great in my home entertainment center, and it will look good in any home theater setup. It's nice to be able to watch HULU, Prime, and Zynga games on my good TV.

Cons: Not enough room - component selection is limited. That being said, good components ARE available for this unit. Somewhat difficult to cool.

Other Thoughts: If you like this unit, be prepared to purchase ALL low profile equipment, including cards, RAM, and coolers. Will only take a certian size power supply. Do not expect to overclock with this unit as it cannot be cooled enough. The faceplate of your BD drive will need to be removed to fit the drive into the unit, but ihis is not as difficult as it sounds and gives a very professional effect. There is really only room for 3 full size 3.5" items. I have 2HD's in RAID and an SSD Drive and everything just fits. The front controls and IR interface work through a single USB header plug that plugs into your MB. I accidentally damaged my front control board on the unit when I first got it by plugging this in backwards, and they replaced it no questions asked. The replacement arrived quickly and worked perfectly. The hidden front panel USB and Card reader will plug into an additional USB header. Windows performance rating of 7.4 on my unit with an Intel i5 and 4 GB RAM.

4 out of 5 eggsClassy

Pros: Good looking. Clean front panel, no blinking lights. Takes full-sized power supplies, easy to find really good and efficient ones. Remote control power and volume works with no drivers. Front-panel media reader is handy.

Cons: Not cheap. Light weight hardware looks good but doesn't have quality feel. Space around drives is cramped and hard to manage. Difficult to find optical drive that works with eject button. Needs low-profile cards.

Other Thoughts: This case has the same style as my Harmon Kardon receiver and blends right in. I used a Scythe Shiruken cooler on the i5-2405S processor but replaced the fan with a Noctua NF-P12 with lowest-speed adapter. It barely fits, but the ticking of the clock on the wall is louder than this PC and it runs cool even under load. The fan in the Kingwin LZP-550 PS never turns on due to the low system power, even with the PNY VCGGT4301XPB video card and eClaro sound card. With the hard drive spun down power draw reads about 45W on the Kill-a-Watt meter when idling.

I can't comment on the RC software, I don't use it. The Shiruken cooler had to be trimmed a bit to get the optical drive to fit, the space in that area is really tight -- plan carefully. My optical drive didn't line up with the eject button, had to kluge an extension.

Great case for the ultimate entertainment PC if you're an experienced system builder, but not for beginners.

4 out of 5 eggsBeatiful but challenging

Pros: Its beatiful you cant tell that it is a pc. The pictures dont do it justice. I would give it 4 1/2eggs becuase of the software it is somewhat useless. This build was challenging given how cramped the case is. You really have to plan ahead, need to choose the rigth heatsink, need a modular psu, and highly recomend a ssd and an additional laptop drive. 3.5" hdd are too long and to tight of a fit.i have a sammy blu ray reader that the egg has for 60$ that just fits with the heatsink. To make your life simple install the heatsink last and run the wires under the odd cage. The case does not like credenza style tv entertainment centers with nooks. I had to put my htpc on the counter top otherwise in the nook it got too no, now ican also run the heatsink at the minimum speed. Another pleasant surprise was to recieve an extra blue nob and a blue ray cover for the odd lid.if you read the reviews here usually u have to call moneaul tech support to get these.

Cons: The price premium over the same case w/o thee vfd display. The one supplied by moneaul is useless. Buy this case worth every penny but u can save some $ and skip the vfd. I dont rma it since thinking of having to open the case gives me the chills.

Other Thoughts: My specs of critical components in terms of planning this build:
Zalman heatsink: egg product # N82E1682013941
Samsung blue ray drive 60$
Ocz modx 500watt psu: egg product # N82E16817341016

Asus f1 a75-mpro matx: egg product # N82E16813131764
Kingston ssd: egg product #N82E16820139412

3 out of 5 eggsGood, but with issues

Pros: Looks great which is the most important thing if it's going to be sitting front-and-center in a public space.

Cons: 1) The first case I received had two critical manufacturing flaws: a deformed drive bay and a missing motherboard standoff.. I contacted Moneual's support in an attempt to remedy the problems without having to ship the entire case back. They agreed to send me a replacement drive bay if I paid the shipping to return the original bay to them. I found it unreasonable to expect me to pay $12 to send a bent piece of metal to them after spending nearly $300 on the case so I RMA'd the entire case with NewEgg. The replacement case is defect-free.

2) It can't be overstated just how bad the included software is. It's about what you would expect from an undergraduate group project. Actually, that's being too harsh on the undergrads...they would have at least made sure the date displays correctly. There is an alternative you can find with a little bit of Googling so don't let this flaw completely turn you off the case.

3) I'm *still* waiting for the Blu-ray bezel. Very frustrating!

Other Thoughts: 1) I'm using the case in conjunction with a MSI 880GMA-E53 motherboard, ceton infinitv 4 card, CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 CMPSU-430CX power supply, Western Digital Scorpio Black 2.5" 500 GB drive, and a SONY Blu-ray Burner BD-5300S-0B. With that configuration there is plenty of internal capacity.

2) The case isn't very well insulated so I don't recommend 3.5" hard drives. I could hear mine which bugged me. The WD drive I'm using is inaudible.

3) I swapped the default CPU fan (it was too loud) for an Alpine 64 Pro. It is very quiet and the system is pretty much silent now. *However*, that fan is much larger and it makes for a very tight squeeze with the memory and the Blu-Ray drive. Everything fits but you'll need an angled SATA cable and 'standard' height memory chips. I suspect the same is true for just about any other replacement fan as well. The memory I'm using is CORSAIR TW3X4G1333C9A so use that as a reference for what I mean by 'standard' height.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I was looking for

Pros: This is a great HTPC case. It is looking very good with my other components. I'm using it with a MSI 5670 video card. Everything fits in the case but it's tight.

Cons: It's tight. I have only one useable hard drive space once the video card is in.

Other Thoughts: Athlon 250
Samsung 1TB hard drive
ASUS DVD drive
Seasonic X-560 watt modular PS
Arctic Cooling Alpine 64 cooler.
G-SKILL ECO RAM
MSI 5670 video card.

Everything runs cool and nice. Quiet Setup. I may upgrade the CPU later.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case, awful VFD software

Pros: Strong, attractive case. Customer service is great- they will happily send you a blue ring and Blu-Ray bezel for the case. Very compact.

Cons: VFD display software (M.Play MX) does indeed suck. It's a shame that Moneual decided to ship high end HTPC case with such awful software. The main reason you'd buy this over a 312 is for the VFD- I really hope Moneual gets the software fixed. Case is a bit pricey. 40 MM fans are noisy; it'd be really nice to at least one 80mm case fan somewhere.

Other Thoughts: Generally, I'm pretty happy with the case. The software makes it look not as professional as it should be.

2 out of 5 eggsJust OK

Pros: Nice size and layout. Good quality metal.

Cons: VFD display software (M.Play MX) does not work properly. The VFD display on the case shows the current date/time (Sat 7/17/2010 2:00:00 PM) as Sat m/d/2010 2:00:00 PM? I am running M.Play MX latest ver. 1.1.2.5, but it did the same thing with ver. 1.1.2.1 that was supplied with case. I have found another software lcdwriter.exe that has been revised to work with this case and remote (just google the case and reviews).

Customer support does not respond to emails.

Other Thoughts: I have bought Antec Fusion Remote cases in the past for much less and they work perfectly. If I hadn't need the smaller depth I would have RMA'd this junk and got the Antec and saved myself $100 +.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Case and Great Service

Pros: Nice looking case that looks like it belongs with other A/V gear. Great service. Newegg shipped a case with a DVD bezel, when I thought I was getting a Blu-ray bezel (not a big deal). I contacted Moneual and they sent me both the bezel and a blue light for the volume knob, which I had not even mentioned. The blue light makes the case look even better too. Overall, it's a solidly constructed case that blends in well with other home theater gear, and Moneual is great at customer service as well.

Cons: Not really a con, but wire management in the case is a bit of a chore.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Design and Functional

Pros: The case is very understated and fits in perfectly with other Home Theatre components. The appearance and the finish of the outside of the case matches all of the other components I have in my AV tower. It is by far the most "grown-up" and nicest htpc case available in my oppinion.

Cons: Not really a con but you must be be willing to either carefully plan the wire routing or not be afraid of trial and error.

Other Thoughts: I really wanted a blue glow ring instead of an orange arround the volume knob and their customer service was very helpful and offered to send me a new one if I send in my proof of purchase. I found the best way of routing cables was under the drives at the front of the case. I used an ASUS P7H55D-M EVO motherboard (1156 socket) and was very happy with the way things fit, but it is tight. If you plan to use a stock intel heatsink you will likely not have any issues but be careful with the depth of the optical drive you use. I used a Sony Optiarc drive with an aftermarket Scythe SCSK-1100 100mm Shuriken Rev. B 3 Heat Pipes CPU Cooler and with the SATA and power connector on the back of the drive they are almost touching. RAM with eatspreaders are ok just so long as they do NOT have any fins sticking up past the top of the circuit boards, as the drive will definitely cover the ram slots. Also the display on the front of the case is nice but not really that useful.
