Habey EMC-600B Black Heavy duty 3mm aluminum Server Chassis 60W - OEM

Pros: Small.

Cons: Used with Atom board and SSD. It was nice and quiet. But it started heating up during the OS install, so I added a fan to the case. No longer quiet, but it needed a good fan. The computer ran for a few weeks, then the internal power supply went up in smoke. Fried all the other components inside the case. This could be a neat toy, but I'll stick with normal power supplies from now on.

Other Thoughts: It makes a nice monitor stand after the power supply died.

Pros: - Extruded aluminum body
- 3mm Covers
- Good use of space
- Minimalistic look
- Best mini-itx case on newegg; top 3 when compared to g-alantic g677 and morex 577

Cons: - DC power in is on the SIDE!!! What were they thinking??? Minus 1 egg for this. It can be fixed by drilling a new hole in the back and moving the DC input.
- Intel 65w LGA1155 CPU cooler WILL NOT FIT (35w cooler will)
- No front USB
- No vent holes on case cover for CPU
- 60w is on the low side
- Power & HD activity light (integrated into pwr button) are juvenile; looks out of place on this minimalist case

Other Thoughts: Great case, we'll be using these for our low end spec office pc's.

Be careful with your CPU choice. 65w LGA1155 cooler will not clear the cover, it's a few mm too high. Go with a 35w LGA1155 CPU otherwise you'll need a low profile cooler (avoid Rosewill $10 model, it's loud).

It's mind boggling that they put the DC in jack on the side of the case! It can be remedied by drilling an 8mm hole in the back.

Pros: Looks sleek

Cons: The EMC-600B and EMC-600BL appear to be the same thing. I ordered the EMC-600B thinking there wouldn't be a 120W DC-DC power supply included and no pre-drilled holes for the power supply, but it came with both.

Other Thoughts: The case ended up being much bigger than I expected for the system I put in it.

Habey should make a thin mini-itx version of the case.

Pros: High quality solid construction

Cons: It's going to be a tight fit, but that's to be expected in a case this size.

Other Thoughts: I put an ASUS C60M1-I fanless motherboard in here and there is zero clearance between its heatsink and the 2.5" SSD. If you are going to use that MB you might want to consider the larger Habey case.

With the case standing on its side there seems to be plenty of convective cooling and the CPU is staying below 60C.

I don't think I could have left the case sitting 'flat' with the SSD drive right above the heatsink it would have cooked.

Pros: The thick black powder-coating is nicely done. I removed the power inlet from the left side -- my board has its own 12V inlet. The converter board and power brick are of reasonable quality. I'm using a previously-bought power brick: it has a laptop-style AC cord which I prefer. I'm not using the included 12V power board.

Habey did well with their compact switch and two-light assembly. Power is blue. A red light makes the button purple when the drive is accessed. The result is nice. I don't fault them for omitting the reset switch.

Another reviewer stated there's no room for a 3½" hard drive. He's basically correct: I squeezed a 3½" WD 500GB Caviar HD into mine as the D945GSEJT mainboard is very flat. I'm not thrilled at how warm the resulting system runs. I added a fan. It takes away fun by being noisy.

Cons: Others mentioned the heat build-up. I went to great lengths and attached a 40mm fan to my heatsink. I removed a row of fins and attached it sideways, keeping ITX footprint as small as possible. The fan is sideways so as to move air out of the case. A case this small might be better cooled with an external fan, say inside an entertainment center.

The interior plate is stamped steel. It'd be nice if it was aluminum like the rest of the case. The plate gets very warm being attached to the hard drive.

That plate is purposed for both 600 / 800 cases. It has CD-ROM mounting tabs which are useless for the 600. I ground these off using a Dremel. I removed material elsewhere for fan clearance. The oval mounting slots for HD mounting were lengthened, moving the drive rearward. This gives better room for SATA and power hook-up.

There is little clearance between my sideways-mounted fan and the black case top. It'd be much better if the case were taller.

Other Thoughts: Anytime I get carried away doing case mods like this, I ask myself if it's worth it.

Like many cases, this one has stick-on feet. Stick-on feet are worthless in my view. There's one more mod for the future. After so many mods, I hope the whole thing lasts. I know I complained a lot, but the smallness of the result is probably worth it. Just know what you're getting into.

I bought my case locally.

Pros: Small and sturdy. Nice finish. Quiet, hence a great choice for HTPC.

Cons: Power supply board gets in the way of installing the motherboard. The same goes for the power supply connector, which is on the side of the case. I had to remove both to be able to install the motherboard. A bit more work, but not a big deal and not worth deducting eggs for.

The blue power button light is quite bright.

Other Thoughts: I installed an AMD E-350 with a 2.5" drive and everything fit just right. There are no cable management options so I tucked the cables where I could.

This case could use a few improvements: a reset button, a front USB port (this might take away from the clean look though) and perhaps a spot on the front of the case where an internal IR receiver could be installed (in truth, not too many cases have this option).

All in all, I am happy with this case and I do not regret the purchase.

Pros: Small form factor and beautiful finish. Very solid construction and color matched screws blend into the design.

Cons: Power supply connection is in a weird location; can make motherboard installation awkard as it can get in the way of components.

Retains an excessive amount of heat! Even with a hard-to-find 50mm case fan installed, the entire thing will heat up during use and has extremely poor ventilation. Tempted to do as another user suggested and use risors to lift the lid a bit and cut out a hole for a larger case fan. Standing the unit on its side helps assist with cooling since rising heat can escape through the vent.

Other Thoughts: Excellent for an HTPC; aside from the heat issues I have no regrets buying this case.

Pros: Very good build quality. The design is about as small as possible.

Cons: Designed for low power solutions (Atom / Brazos), not good enough airflow for a full power solution. Factory Intel Sandy Bridge heatsink is too tall.

Other Thoughts: I realize that I'm not using this case as intended, so I'll give it some leaway...on the other hand, you'd think Habey might think ahead to power users pushing the limit. A small case fan would go a long way. I've got a 2500K CPU powered by a low profile Akasa HSF solution. Its working fine now, only because I'm using a set of motherboard standoffs to secure the lid with a gap for better airflow. I'm planning to mod the case to allow for a small case fan to draw heat out so I can attach the top as intended. I also own the larger model which has room for a slim optical drive, it'd be a much better choice for someone looking to run a high powered rig. Without the optical drive installed, it'd have room for a much better cooling solution.

Pros: Price, quality, size. This thing appear to be vesa mountable which I did not see in it's description.

Mac Mini-like in feel. The finish on the metal is similar to a Mac Mini as well.

Cons: The length was a bit of a surprise, yes I looked at the dimensions, but I expected it to be a bit more square in size.

Power supply placement is weird, I think if they placed it on the side wall it could save about an inch of length.

Also, power input on the side of the case is awkward...I refuse to believe that something easy could have been done to place it on the back. BUT as I am writing this, I may get a punch a hole into the mobo rear shield and re-route the power input to the back.

None of this is worth dropping an egg.

Other Thoughts: For the price this thing is awesome! Building as a bedroom HTPC. I have a full powered, full sized HTPC in my bedroom as it is, this thing will drastically cut down on size, power consumption, heat etc making it perfect for it's small size HTPC application.

Pros: - Extremely small
- Well made
- Silent as PSU is external

Cons: - Power jack at the side instead of at the back, could be annoying

Other Thoughts: I bought this wanting a very small BUT i didnt want to go atom/e350. I installed a i3 2100t in this case and it fits perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a VERY small case.
