5 out of 5 eggsVery nice case

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: Looks very sleek and minimal.
Very very quiet.

Cons: Have to keep the front door open if you have an internal SD card reader. That's a given with this type of case.

Other Thoughts: This is a very nice case. I bought one of these a few years ago and got another one recently for a 2nd build.

5 out of 5 eggsbig case

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: Big, quiet, airflow is actually good.

Cons: Big, yes it is a bit too big for my taste, but that allows for better cable management in the back of mobo.

Other Thoughts: This case is a very quality product for easy build. Space is no issue. I bought this for the silence, and it indeed improved. I can still hear noise, but that is from the bottom power supply facing down, and I know it. I guess I cannot really blame the case, but it could be better. Overall it is a great product for people looking for quietness and simple design.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: This thing is sturdy. idk if it's the sturdiest case on the market, but it's by far sturdier than any other case I've ever owned.

It looks amazing. It's sleek and simple. No over exaggerated curves or bright lights or alien looking design, and it's certainly not about to transform into a giant robot.

The front door is awesome. It hides the cd/dvd/bluray player, the fans and the fan control while still allowing airflow.

Before I removed all the vent covers for maximum airflow. this thing was SILENT. I had my Hyper 212 EVO turned all the way up and I couldn't even hear it.

The built in fan control is awesome. Just plug your fans in, which helps prevent wire clutter, and plug it into a molex cable and you're good to go. I leave it turned all the way up because I have my i5 4690k overclocked to 4.5 GHz on air.

Plenty of room for cable management in the back.

I love the USB plugs on top instead of sticking out the front.

Cons: Not sure if it's the case's fault or the motherboard, or my own, but the front headphone jack is has poor sound quality and 1 channel(both ears, but it doesn't play in 1 ear at a time)

Heavy?

Other Thoughts: The power LED can be tricky. My motherboard has 3 pins for the power LED, so I had to plug the wires into the 2 outer pins instead of side by side.

1 out of 5 eggslame

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: It's a case

Cons: front I/O never worked right. Whenever I plugged in a usb drive into either the 2.0 or the 3.0 the system froze. I tried this with two motherboards, different ram, another cpu, and finally with another power supply.

3 out of 5 eggsMy Left Foot

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: Spacious, professional look, very thorough supporting kit.

Cons: Plastic front pops off with even the slightest pressure - makes moving it an adventure.

Rubber feet attached with cheap adhesive and pop off easily - would bolt anchored feet really blow the price point?

Other Thoughts: Overall a nice case with a couple odd shortcuts.

4 out of 5 eggsI like it!

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: Rock solid case with awesome sound reduction. I could stand on this one. It has great cable management as well.

Cons: No wiring diagram, a little confusiing with the multi speed fan connectors. this is the only reason I didn't give it 5 eggs

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Case - Incredibly Quiet

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: 1..Super quite
2. Sexy
3. Simple
4. Makes for an elegant piece of furniture. Very Appleesqe in its simplicity and design
5. All metal construction
6. Metal drive bays

Cons: none discovered so far.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for an elegant, quite case that could be featured as a piece of furniture in your bedroom, family room or office, and that doesn't have all of the juvenile led lighting and tacky design elements, this is the case for you.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but not perfect -- but still great!

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: All in all I love this case. It looks really slick. It has a great paint job, the case design does a good job at hiding wires, and the included fans are very quiet, even at full speed. The price is fantastic for the quality. Lots of spare hardware included. I like the included fan controller and the case is quiet as a mouse, even with my Radeon R9.

Cons: But there are a few things that prevent the case from being top of the line. Like another reviewer, I found the 5.25 screw holes don't line up perfectly for some reason, so I only put 3 screws in to hold my internal DVD drive. Not a deal breaker, but it is one of those things that catches you off guard, and you sit back and say to yourself, "Really?"

And the user manual. Oh, the manual. *sigh* They call it a user manual, but it's basically a welcome note and an exploded parts view. For someone like me who builds a new machine once every 4 years, it's particularly painful to flip through. It's not like I screw in motherboard offsets every week. I had to jump on YouTube to find out how to do some basic install work, as well as the more case-specific stuff like hooking up the fan controller.

Other Thoughts: Just a couple things I wish I had known before buying: there's no speaker to hear motherboard tones, and there's only one light. For the light, that means you either get a power LED, or you can hook that light up to be your HD access LED instead. I did the latter, but I really wish I had both lights. I like lights. I think I'll scavenge my speaker and an extra LED from my old case and stuff them into this box.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally, Silence!

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: I wanted the latest and greatest R5, but NewEgg had the R4 on sale for $79, so I saved a lot of money, and got a very good case.

If silence is what you are after, then this case is the one. I bought a third Fractal fan, and I have them all running at 7v on the built in fan controller. Cooling is just fine, and I don't hear even hear it unless I put my ear close to it.

This case is easy to build a system because there is so much room in it. Hiding the power supply wiring is very easy, and there is plenty of room to hide the wires on the back side. I used a SeaSonic G Series SSR-550RM power supply, and I was able to rout everything behind the motherboard tray including the 12v EPS.

The case overall is just top notch quality. It's not futuristic looking or nothing like that, but it would be right at home in an upscale office setting.

The drive bays are steel, and they have rubber vibration dampeners on them to keep the noise down. They lock in very nicely. Way better than those cheap plastic ones that's on a lot of cases now.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: If you can get this one on sale, I would not hesitate buying it. It is a very heavy case, but on the other hand it's made of high quality rolled steel, so heavy is expected just the way it should be.

Big thumb way up if you can buy this one on sale.
