The Define R4 is the latest in the Define series of silent computer cases. Building on the award -winning foundation of the Define R3, the R4 retains minimalistic yet elegant styling with extraordinary performance, noise reduction features, premium build quality and unparalleled value in this price range while adding a suite of innovative new features.

No longer are you forced to choose between silence and support for liquid cooling, the Define R4 offers both. Top fan positions now allow slim 240/280mm radiators to be mounted internally and select slim radiators can also be mounted in the front fan holder. An integrated fan controller is easily accessible behind the front panel, putting fan control at your fingertips. Cable management and intelligent layout are taken to new levels with the option of mounting up to two 2.5" SSD's on the reverse side of the motherboard tray, effectively mitigating visible cable clutter. When it comes to cable routing, the Define R4 has it covered. Over one full inch of cable routing space behind the motherboard plate has been achieved by widening the case by just 8mm. This mid-tower case is a great choice for everything from gaming/enthusiast systems to silent home theater and corporate applications. The R4 comes pre-fitted with dense noise absorbing bitumen material on the front, top and side panels. The exclusive ModuVentSystem provides three panels which also have noise absorbing material; these panels can be removed to expose three air vents for additional fans for high air flow applications. Rubber padding on the case feet, and anti-vibration pads for the power supply and HDDs also help reduce noise.

Configuration flexibility is enhanced thanks to two hard drive cages (featuring steel drive trays with black silicone mounting grommets) that support a total of (8) 3.5"HDDs or 2.5"SSDs. The top 5-bay cage is easily rotatable and removable; removing the top cage allows support for graphics cards up to 470mm in length! The bottom 3-bay cage is mounted to the chassis by screws instead of rivets, allowing you to easily remove both drive cages for complete flexibility. The spacious sleek black interior can support CPU coolers up to 170mm high. If cooling becomes more of a priority, this system can support up to 7 fans with removable, washable filters to provide airflow from 5 sides of the case. The case also includes cable routing cutouts with improved rubber grommets to ensure greater fit and retention. The bottom of the case has a filter over the power supply and 120/140mm intake fan vent which can be easily removed for cleaning.

FULLY TRANSPARENT SIDE PANEL WINDOW The acrylic window side panel features the same clean, Scandinavian design as the case itself, and has a completely flat outer surface without any plastic bezel or rivets, allowing you to display your setup in style.
OPTIMIZED FOR NOISE REDUCTION Pre-fitted with dense noise absorbing material, the R4 also features ModuVent panels which prevent noise from escaping unused fan vents when silence is required. If cooling becomes more of a priority than noise reduction, the ModuVent panels can be removed to expose additional air vents for optional fans.
SUPPORT FOR LIQUID COOLING You no longer have to make the choice between liquid cooling and silence, the R4 offers both. Top fan positions now allow slim 240/280mm radiators to be mounted. Select slim radiators can be mounted in the front fan holder (requires the bottom HDD cage to change position).
INNOVATIVE SSD MOUNTING OPTIONS Hide those drives! Take cable management and interior cleanliness to a whole new level. Mount up to two 2.5" SSD's out of sight on the back side of the motherboard tray.
INTEGRATED FAN COOLER Fan control at your fingertips. The integrated fan controller is easily accessible behind the front panel and manages up to three fans, allowing you to tailor the fan speed to your needs.

Cons: Factory fans leave a little to be desired, and I wish that the PCI slot covers and drive bay hardware weren't white... but those problems are extremely minor and don't even warrant an egg reduction. The design is exceptional considering the price. Much airflow, custom screws for everything, neat drive holder design which flips to accommodate hard drives or CD Rom bays, 3 phase fan controller for 3 fans, H100 Corsair fits nicely, screw holes align. Solid frame and doors. Cons: For all the wonderfulness of this case, I had the strangest issue. Computer would NOT boot in this case. Tried everything. Took all components out and changed the stand offs and screws, tried new power supply, tried old power supply, took everything out and put it back in twice, computer would still not boot. It would try to come on, but then would seemingly short out somewhere. So, finally I took all of the components and put them back into my old case. Cooler Master Cosmos full tower. Works perfectly. I have little to no idea what this could be. RMA is in the works, sending back Monday for a new one. Dock one egg for it not working and making me wait for who knows how long until I get it back. Kinda upset Newegg would not send me a new one with CC before they get defective one back. Kinda lame. Also, be aware! The H100 fits except for with some motherboards, the CPU power is in the way of any size fan and cannot be utilized as advertised. Simply put there is not enough space above the MOBO for the radiator and fans. I mounted the fans on the outside of the case as I don't care. This may be a deal breaker for some. This may not be an issue for others as it depends on the MOBO setup. Plenty of room for large video card and lots of drives. cable management has more space than my previous case, thus the install looks great! Cons: the manual is a waste of paper. the company should take some time and explain some of the "features" they describe. they say theres a place for an SSD behind the MoBo, but don't say where. there are 3 fan power cords from the front panel, one is shorter, i'd like to speculate why, but theres zero documentation of it. Other Thoughts: Great size, plenty of room. It has a very clean and minimalistic look, which I love. - Great cable routing options, and tie down points in the right spots. - Versatile mounting options, allowing both 140mm and 120mm mounting options. Have fit both the H100 and H220 easily. - Filters work very well. (One in the front, one for psu) - Front panel cables are removable (USB 2.0, HD Audio, Fan controller) which is great for those who won't have a use for those connectors. - Removable hard drive cages - SSD mounts behind motherboard tray - Price You really can't go wrong with this case. The cable management for this case is excellent. I have a 750 PSU and all the wires are nice and invisible. Hard drive bays are awesome especially for my 2 ssd Cons: First one I got arrived broken, but that is UPS fault. Great cable management room, glorious finish and front panel. Noise reduction foam is most definitely a plus. Cons: I wish it had a bit more space for radiators at the top. N/A 4/19/2013 5:47:29 PM Tech Level: 5/5 Ownership: 5/5 Verified Owner	Rating: 3/5This is my second R4 Pros: It is just like the R4 without the window...if you want to know how good the regular one was I reviewed it as well...short version its the best case on the market for the money(79.99 on sale got this one for 89.99 on sale as well both good deals) from what I've seen Fractal stands above the other case companies so far. Cons: It has a window...Not as silent as my first R4 and The window is doing nothing at all but helping increase the noise level...If you guys could send me another Right side panel I'd up the eggs here but as is I'm docking you because you don't even have that option. Other Thoughts: I really wish Fractal would release an R4 without any bloody windows or side vents for fan panels. Just Two right side panels essentially the plain panels. Two plain side panels shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Looks great that way when I take the one off my first case to try it out also much more silent.
