The Define R4 is the latest in the Define series of silent computer cases. Building on the award-winning foundation of the Define R3, the R4 retains minimalistic yet elegant styling with extraordinary performance, noise reduction features, premium build quality and unparalleled value in this price range while adding a suite of innovative new features.

No longer are you forced to choose between silence and support for liquid cooling, the Define R4 offers both. Top fan positions now allow slim 240 radiators to be mounted internally and select slim radiators can also be mounted in the front fan holder. An integrated fan controller is easily accessible behind the front panel, putting fan control at your fingertips. Cable management and intelligent layout are taken to new levels with the option of mounting up to two 2.5in, SSDs on the reverse side of the motherboard tray, effectively mitigating visible cable clutter. When it comes to cable routing, the Define R4 has it covered. Over one full inch of cable routing space behind the motherboard plate has been achieved by widening the case by just 8mm.

This mid-tower case is a great choice for everything from gaming enthusiast systems to silent home theater and corporate applications. The R4 comes pre-fitted with dense noise absorbing bitumen material on the front, top and side panels. The exclusive ModuVent TM System provides three panels which also have noise-absorbing material; these panels can be removed to expose three air vents for additional fans for high air flow applications. Rubber padding on the case feet, anti-vibration pads for the power supply and HDDs also help reduce noise.

Configuration flexibility is enhanced thanks to two hard drive cages (featuring steel drive trays with black silicone mounting grommets) that support a total of eight 3.5in. HDDs or 2.5in. SSDs. The top five-bay cage is easily rotatable and removable; removing the top cage allows support for graphics cards up to 470mm in length. The bottom three-bay cage is mounted to the chassis by screws instead of rivets, allowing you to easily remove both drive cages for complete flexibility. The spacious sleek black interior can support CPU coolers up to 170mm high. If cooling becomes more of a priority, this system can support up to seven fans with removable, washable filters to provide airflow from five sides of the case. The case also includes cable routing cutouts with improved rubber grommets to ensure greater fit and retention. The bottom of the case has a filter over the power supply and 120/140mm intake fan vent which can be easily removed for cleaning.

  • newegg Fully Transparent Side Panel Window The acrylic window side panel features the same clean, Scandinavian design as the case itself, and has a completely flat outer surface without any plastic bezel or rivets, allowing you to display your setup in style.
  • newegg Optimized for Noise Reduction Pre-fitted with dense noise-absorbing material, the R4 also features ModuVent panels which prevent noise from escaping unused fan vents when silence is required. If cooling becomes more of a priority than noise reduction, the ModuVent panels can be removed to expose additional air vents for optional fans.
  • newegg Support for Liquid Cooling You no longer have to make the choice between liquid cooling and silence, the R4 offers both. Top fan positions now allow slim 240mm radiators to be mounted. Select slim radiators can be mounted in the front fan holder (requires the bottom HDD cage to change position).
  • newegg Innovative SSD Mounting Options Hide those drives! Take cable management and interior cleanliness to a whole new level. Mount up to two 2.5in, SSDs out of sight on the back side of the motherboard tray.
  • newegg Integrated Fan Controller Fan control at your fingertips. The integrated fan controller is easily accessible behind the front panel and manages up to three fans, allowing you to tailor the fan speed to your needs.
  • newegg Advanced Cable Management Over 1in. of space behind the motherboard plate means cables can be conveniently routed through five rubber grommets into a generous compartment behind the motherboard to reduce cable clutter and improve airflow.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Case looks amazing.
Very big with plenty of room.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: The top of the case seemed to be someone smashed in but only slightly. It could have happened during careless shipping or it could be the way the case is made. Either way, not worth docking an egg or complaining about.
Got it on sale for $76

5 out of 5 eggsPhenomenal!!!

Pros: The size, for one. It has so much room inside, and is so wide that even the back of the motherboard tray has room for all the cables you can imagine stuffing back there!

It's sturdy. I have rarely encountered a case this strongly built. there are no creaks or groans if you puxh on it.

Plus it is extremely quiet, even with two fron intake, 1 bottom intake, on top exhaust and one rear exhaust. Use the Fractal fans and you'll get this level of quiet plus near-perfect airflow!

I love the 8 HDD bays, plus the mounting point on back of motherboard tray for an SSD. My server appreciates all the HDD space!

Cons: Only one. Mounting the SSd to the back of motherboard tray requires removal of the motherboard...or installation before the motherboard.
It's not enough to knock off an egg tho.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this black one for my server, and am very very happy. Every HDD bay is filled, and without the clutter of external enclosure add-ons!

4 out of 5 eggsNice case, but get another color.

Pros: Nice cable management
USB access
Built-in fan controller (supports 3 * 3-pin fan)
2 built-in case fans
Lots of drive space
Lots of fan filters
Almost everything is removable

Cons: Heavy
Could use a few more rubber grommets
Case around the fans and other openings is made of fairly flimsy metal

Other Thoughts: There are other colors of this case that are cheaper by a significant amount. No, they are not linked to this one by a drop down list but be sure to go find them before you buy this more expensive color.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Case I've had!

Pros: Ever since I got my R4, it's been excellent. Love its looks, makes my PC look like a sleeper I'd say. Cable management is great, I remember when I used my Source 210 it never could look as good as it does now. Makes for a very clean build, and even for extras later on. The power/reset buttons look great, and the amount of USB ports (two 3.0 and two 2.0) are great too. Absolutely love everything about the case.

Cons: None that I found during my rebuild. :D

Other Thoughts: Should include extra cable ties, has six included but it should be around 10+ or so.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case but make sure it isn't flawed

Pros: +Tons of flexibility
+Great cooling options
+Plenty of room to fit just about anything
+High quality materials
+Attractive

Cons: -A slight bit on the big side but it's a compromise
-Very heavy

Other Thoughts: When mine shipped in it was absurdly hard to remove the sidepanel. Not thinking, I kept the case and half a year later realized that the case is flawed. There are actually shipping damages that were done to this side of the front panel and the metal on the top is uneven, causing it to bend down. Because of this, it makes the left sidepanel extremely hard to put on and off and also looks slightly crooked. The back panel is WAY easier to remove. After having someone help me prove this theory, I put the sidepanel on while they forced the metal of the top of the case up and the sidepanel went on with ease. My case is flawed and Newegg will likely not replace it this late in the game. While I am very disappointed, I know that I can't fully trust Newegg anymore after this and another product I purchased were damaged. Oh, and the case ships in very nice packaging so it is very obvious that it was not the shipping process. I'm not fully sure what happened but if it could be replaced, I would be amazed.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: This case is great! It is dead silent using a H100i. Even under loads while playing games you can barely hear it and I have the tower sitting just 3 feet away from me on my desk. Build quality is excellent and looks awesome. A lot of room to work in makes your build a breeze.

The "foam" sound dampeners are higher quality than you might otherwise think or told. Has a nice smooth felt feel to it.

Cons: A little on the heavy side, but it only adds to the quality of this case. Even the side panel doors are pretty hefty.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case

Pros: easy setup
excellent cable management
the fans that come with it are excellent quality
very well insulated

Cons: Could come with more fans
poor documentation with the case.
Neither of these are big deals, just finding things to complain about.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrid Customer Service

Pros: Very nice looking case. Quiet fans, excellent cable management and ruggedly built.

Cons: Apparently, someone likes to play soccer with the cases before packaging them. Non-existent Customer Service

Other Thoughts: Purchased and received the case from Newegg. Upon inspection, found some gouges on the front and side panels, as well as a few bent screws holding the case together. I Went on the advice of the literature that was packaged with the case, stating that instead of returning the case, to contact customer support to get replacement parts in the event that there are any damaged parts during shipping. The box the case came in did not have any damage, so it is unlikely that the damage was in done during shipping. It has been over a week, three calls and two emails... and nothing. No response, nothing... pretty dismal. So, I am going to purchase another case, and send this one back. Don't waste your money on this. Take your hard-earned money and buy quality from a more reputable company
