4 out of 5 eggsA great chasis for any build, but beware of some hype.

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Phenomenal interior design, simple and clean exterior, excellent cable management as well a water cooling potential, very stylish, and a steal for less than $100.

Cons: If you know your PC basics, than you know that a window on your case will allow sound to escape the box, no matter how much sound proof padding is stuffed within. Given that, this is such an aesthetically pleasing case with a window that I had to get it. If that won't be an issue for you (I hate wearing headphones), then this case is a huge cut above the rest. Also, it's a little heavy, so there is that.

Other Thoughts: My 1-Egg deduction is based on intended advertising hype, alone. If the windowed design actually cut noise as advertised, then I would have given it a 5. I am moving my internal components to this company's R5 case, without a window, to minimize the air buzzing. This is a great case, and I recommend it for any personal gaming builds, as long as you don't intend to install more than 4 HDDs.

4 out of 5 eggsUPDATED Review

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Case looks great.
Update: Case still looks great!

Cons: Updated: The rattle...maybe it's just mine but the metal on metal rattle has been annoying at times. The rattle comes from the removable window panel on the side of the case. Even if I am able to find a position where the rattle stops..it eventually comes back again. Now, I wear a headset 95% of the time so I don't hear it most of the time but when I do hear it, it's quite annoying. I could probably fix this issue quite easily by adding some grommets somewhere but since I'm reviewing the case and not grommets...

Other Thoughts: Overall, the case is still great! I would buy it again and again. Just be weary that you may get some rattle if things don't sit/fit 100%

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Case for a Perfect Build!

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Design is simple and sleek. Good configuration possibilities.

Cons: Nothing is bad

Other Thoughts: Good quality case, my friend purchased this and loved it so I had to get one as well. I didn't go for the R5 because of the subtle differences and the R4 was less expensive. It perfectly fit everything and cable management was easy. Totally recommend this case to anyone whether if it's a budget build or an all out dream build!

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet and cool

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Overall
This case is beautiful, roomy, and quiet as a tomb. Has some pretty solid cable management solutions and you can remove the middle section of 3.5" bays if you don't need them so your graphics cards have more room. Everything is made to make your build super convenient and it comes with plenty of screws, zips, etc. Case is very sturdy and everything fits together very precisely. White accents go well with my MSI mobo.

So Quiet
This case has sound dampening material on both side panels and everything is made to be mounted with some rubber or plastic helping to curb vibration. Only thing that I can even hear is my optical drive and there's no way to really keep that from making some sound. Comes with rubber standoffs for PSU and HDD. The 140mm fans are whisper quiet while still moving a lot of air.

Cons: Really heavy for a mid tower. Wish it came with a third 140mm fan.

Other Thoughts: Recommend buying a third 140mm fan. There's two already but if you want to maximize the airflow you might want to add a third. All three can be connected to the simple fan controller onboard.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product -- would buy again!

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Easy to remove side panel -- love the hand-turn screws that make the side panel easy to open up without using a screwdriver.

Lots of fan locations -- after running my high power PC for about a year, I became more concerned with CPU temps and added 2 more fans into extra slots.

Front door -- I love being able to close the front and hide my CD tray and SD card reader.

Lots of USB 3.0 ports (front and back)

Plenty of room -- I have a Asus Z97 mobo, a Geforce GTX 760 and 4 HHDs, 2SSDs, and love how everything tucks nicely with plenty of room to hide cables

The feet are still on -- I move my PC around once every few months, and have had problems with the rubber feet coming off on other cases. These are all still reliably on!

Cons: Heavy -- I don't mind because I knew when I bought it but it is a little heavier. On the other hand, I'm not worried about any serious dents, its very sturdy.

Front door - I have 2 intake fans in the front that are covered when the door is closed, but whenever I'm really pushing my CPU I just open the door, though I have to be careful not to kick the door while its open.

It seems a little pricey, but I read specs carefully and do not regret spending extra to get a case that has met every need without issue.

Other Thoughts: Love this case, sleek design and great for building your own PC. Would recommend to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggsClean Design!

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: It's is Swedish made, come on. It's a magnificent case.

- Magnetic front-end is sturdy and doesn't clatter. Feels solid. It also adds a nice enclosed metallic look without having to look at any drives you may have mounted up front.
- Front-end USB 2.0 and 3.0 is very convenient. No longer have to plug my USB 3 compatible devices in the back.
- LOTS of drive bays and extra room for cables! The extra room is very much appreciated in this case. Even if you're not a cable guru, you can have a clean look with little work (compared to other cases). All of my bays are full and the cable side cover fits just fine.
- Fans are pretty quiet. My only recent comparison is my >old< LOUD Antec 900 that had some problems. This case is so great compared to the prior.
- Each bay comes with isolation screws for mounting your HDDs. Not sure how much this helps in preventing chatter from hard drive spin, but it shows the thought that went into this case.

Cons: None thusfar. I'm very pleased.

Other Thoughts: Accidentally purchased two of these cases due to reloading the credit card authorization (I know...). Decided not to return the second one, but rather relocated my Linux project PC into this case after liking it so much.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Sleek, and spacious
Fits everything!
SO quiet, I have to look through the window sometimes to check if its on lol.

Cons: My CPU runs hotter than in my old case.. will have to buy some more fans. Airflow seems to be affected by all the sound-proofing of this case.

5 out of 5 eggsFractal Design impresses

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: This case is well thought out in every conceivable way. In addition to all the things you'd come to expect in this price range are all the little details that you don't see elsewhere:
--Extra, rear SSD mounts.
--Removable and adjustable HDD bay.
--Easy and effective fan filters and fan cleaning.
--Ridiculous, cavernous space in the rear for cable management.
--Allow you to mount fans all over the place
--Includes 2, high quality, & quiet 140MM fans.
--The included screw/rubber gromet packs are phenomenal too.
--Rear thumb screws stay in the bare panels when removed.
--Everything inside is steel. The HDD bays, the rear, removable blanks, etc.
--The metal, front 5.25" breakout panel can be reinstalled (to use 3.5")
--Sound dampening material throughout and it does a good job.

It's a very pretty case. It's not too bland and not some overboard rave party either. Looks nicer in person than in these pics (most cases do).

It's a really solid, sturdy case. They don't get much more solid than this (out of numerous cases, only my Antec p180 is more robust, and that thing's a tank).

It's quite massive for a "mid-tower" case. It's really large inside (wide and deep) so it can surely accommodate any CPU fan you'd want to use (widest depth from window to board I've ever seen). It also can handle the Extended ATX motherboards (I'm using a huge Gigabyte Sniper.G2 board) and easily handle long video cards.

Basically, you can do any build you want with this case. I doesn't limit you in any way that I can see.

Cons: --Heavy and LARGE. (not necessarily a con, but it's a beast).
--No proper HDD light (only a power LED).
--Power LED is kind of bright.

Other Thoughts: I have numerous higher-end cases from Antec, NZXT and Corsair and this Fractal Design unit is easily as impressive as those. I have never worked with a case that was so well designed (to work in) and user friendly.

I got this on a whim when it was Seventy dollars and I feel like I stole it. I would have felt comfortable paying up to $150 for this case. I got it to replace my GFs older Antec P180 and I'm jealous of her new R4 case.

I will be buying a Fractal Design again in the future. The quality is top notch.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent. Rock-solid construction. Awesome case

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: With the right fans, this case serves its main purpose, which is silence. The minimalist design is very appealing. Extremely well-built. Plenty of room for larger cooling requirements. Best case I have ever owned.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you are thinking of buying it, don't wait.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid, heavy, QUIET

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: This is an incredible case. It's heavy and is padded with noise dampening material. All areas inside the case are easily accessible, and there is a lot of room to work with. Plenty of spare parts are provided. The case is also pretty wide

Cons: A few minor complaints.
- If you wish to mount SSDs outside the drive bays, you must mount them before the motherboard, as you will need to access the screws. This wasn't an issue for me, but it may be for some.

- The documentation is next to worthless. Which screws are used to attach which components to the case? As this is my first build, I spent a couple of hours guessing and maybe getting this right.

Other Thoughts: I ended up going with this over the R5 for the free shipping. I can't imagine many improvements that would make me regret that decision. Not all of the drive cages are removable, which one could conceivably want for airflow.
