The Define R4 is the latest in the Define series of silent computer cases. Building on the award-winning foundation of the Define R3, the R4 retains minimalistic yet elegant styling with extraordinary performance, noise reduction features, premium build quality and unparalleled value in this price range while adding a suite of innovative new features.

No longer are you forced to choose between silence and support for liquid cooling, the Define R4 offers both. Top fan positions now allow slim 240 radiators to be mounted internally and select slim radiators can also be mounted in the front fan holder. An integrated fan controller is easily accessible behind the front panel, putting fan control at your fingertips. Cable management and intelligent layout are taken to new levels with the option of mounting up to two 2.5in, SSDs on the reverse side of the motherboard tray, effectively mitigating visible cable clutter. When it comes to cable routing, the Define R4 has it covered. Over one full inch of cable routing space behind the motherboard plate has been achieved by widening the case by just 8mm.

This mid-tower case is a great choice for everything from gaming enthusiast systems to silent home theater and corporate applications. The R4 comes pre-fitted with dense noise absorbing bitumen material on the front, top and side panels. The exclusive ModuVent TM System provides three panels which also have noise-absorbing material; these panels can be removed to expose three air vents for additional fans for high air flow applications. Rubber padding on the case feet, anti-vibration pads for the power supply and HDDs also help reduce noise.

Configuration flexibility is enhanced thanks to two hard drive cages (featuring steel drive trays with black silicone mounting grommets) that support a total of eight 3.5in. HDDs or 2.5in. SSDs. The top five-bay cage is easily rotatable and removable; removing the top cage allows support for graphics cards up to 470mm in length. The bottom three-bay cage is mounted to the chassis by screws instead of rivets, allowing you to easily remove both drive cages for complete flexibility. The spacious sleek black interior can support CPU coolers up to 170mm high. If cooling becomes more of a priority, this system can support up to seven fans with removable, washable filters to provide airflow from five sides of the case. The case also includes cable routing cutouts with improved rubber grommets to ensure greater fit and retention. The bottom of the case has a filter over the power supply and 120/140mm intake fan vent which can be easily removed for cleaning.

  • newegg Fully Transparent Side Panel Window The acrylic window side panel features the same clean, Scandinavian design as the case itself, and has a completely flat outer surface without any plastic bezel or rivets, allowing you to display your setup in style.
  • newegg Optimized for Noise Reduction Pre-fitted with dense noise-absorbing material, the R4 also features ModuVent panels which prevent noise from escaping unused fan vents when silence is required. If cooling becomes more of a priority than noise reduction, the ModuVent panels can be removed to expose additional air vents for optional fans.
  • newegg Support for Liquid Cooling You no longer have to make the choice between liquid cooling and silence, the R4 offers both. Top fan positions now allow slim 240mm radiators to be mounted. Select slim radiators can be mounted in the front fan holder (requires the bottom HDD cage to change position).
  • newegg Innovative SSD Mounting Options Hide those drives! Take cable management and interior cleanliness to a whole new level. Mount up to two 2.5in, SSDs out of sight on the back side of the motherboard tray.
  • newegg Integrated Fan Controller Fan control at your fingertips. The integrated fan controller is easily accessible behind the front panel and manages up to three fans, allowing you to tailor the fan speed to your needs.
  • newegg Advanced Cable Management Over 1in. of space behind the motherboard plate means cables can be conveniently routed through five rubber grommets into a generous compartment behind the motherboard to reduce cable clutter and improve airflow.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Case I've had!

Pros: Ever since I got my R4, it's been excellent. Love its looks, makes my PC look like a sleeper I'd say. Cable management is great, I remember when I used my Source 210 it never could look as good as it does now. Makes for a very clean build, and even for extras later on. The power/reset buttons look great, and the amount of USB ports (two 3.0 and two 2.0) are great too. Absolutely love everything about the case.

Cons: None that I found during my rebuild. :D

Other Thoughts: Should include extra cable ties, has six included but it should be around 10+ or so.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case but make sure it isn't flawed

Pros: +Tons of flexibility
+Great cooling options
+Plenty of room to fit just about anything
+High quality materials

Cons: -A slight bit on the big side but it's a compromise
-Very heavy

Other Thoughts: When mine shipped in it was absurdly hard to remove the sidepanel. Not thinking, I kept the case and half a year later realized that the case is flawed. There are actually shipping damages that were done to this side of the front panel and the metal on the top is uneven, causing it to bend down. Because of this, it makes the left sidepanel extremely hard to put on and off and also looks slightly crooked. The back panel is WAY easier to remove. After having someone help me prove this theory, I put the sidepanel on while they forced the metal of the top of the case up and the sidepanel went on with ease. My case is flawed and Newegg will likely not replace it this late in the game. While I am very disappointed, I know that I can't fully trust Newegg anymore after this and another product I purchased were damaged. Oh, and the case ships in very nice packaging so it is very obvious that it was not the shipping process. I'm not fully sure what happened but if it could be replaced, I would be amazed.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: This case is great! It is dead silent using a H100i. Even under loads while playing games you can barely hear it and I have the tower sitting just 3 feet away from me on my desk. Build quality is excellent and looks awesome. A lot of room to work in makes your build a breeze.

The "foam" sound dampeners are higher quality than you might otherwise think or told. Has a nice smooth felt feel to it.

Cons: A little on the heavy side, but it only adds to the quality of this case. Even the side panel doors are pretty hefty.

Pros: easy setup

Cons: Could come with more fans

2 out of 5 eggsHorrid Customer Service

Pros: Very nice looking case. Quiet fans, excellent cable management and ruggedly built.

Cons: Apparently, someone likes to play soccer with the cases before packaging them. Non-existent Customer Service

Other Thoughts: Purchased and received the case from Newegg. Upon inspection, found some gouges on the front and side panels, as well as a few bent screws holding the case together. I Went on the advice of the literature that was packaged with the case, stating that instead of returning the case, to contact customer support to get replacement parts in the event that there are any damaged parts during shipping. The box the case came in did not have any damage, so it is unlikely that the damage was in done during shipping. It has been over a week, three calls and two emails... and nothing. No response, nothing... pretty dismal. So, I am going to purchase another case, and send this one back. Don't waste your money on this. Take your hard-earned money and buy quality from a more reputable company

5 out of 5 eggsThe Perfect case

Pros: Dual radiator support
140mm fan support where it matters
Has a magnetic door
Air filters for your intakes
amazing space for cable management on the back
removable drive bays
thick grommets for cable routing
Paint finish is as high quality as it can get.
I can't get over the finish on the door. It looks sort of like a refrigerator with the silver brushed nickle finish and coming from years of industrial work. metallic clean finishes are premium and gives a sense of durability as well as ease of cleaning.
(I'm OCD with my tech, go through a bottle of Screen cleaner every 2 months)

Quality exceeded expectations.

Cons: only came with 2 fans
fan filters seem cheap IMO, but should still do its job
Front drop-down door grill seems to limit air intake, (may modify this)
Doors slide to the rear to remove instead of up and out. (personal preference)

This case is wide... Nearly gave me eye sores when I took it out of the box...

But then you take off that back panel... and the grin you get when you start your cable management procedure and can't help thinking you can probably hide every extra cable that came with all your tech back there makes you feel a bit warm inside in a good way. :)

Makes a good makeshift chair/ drink coaster or w/e you wanna place on it due to it being over 9" wide.

Other Thoughts: My only gripe about this case is that it doesn't cover the PSU,

(The original case I wanted was the H440 but went for this due to intake constrictions and no 5.25" bays for CD drives.

I'm not taking any eggs of for the cons because most of it can be modified and this case still IS the perfect case through my eyes.

Also I ordered this Titanium Windowed R4 for $80 (after $15 MIR) so Honestly can't complain. Love this case and will hope it lasts me the 3+ years I'll be in college.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful case with outstanding quality

Pros: Great quality case, spacious layout, see other thoughts for more...

Cons: No 2nd led for hdd activity(the one included can be used for either power on indicator OR hdd activity), no caddy to mount a 3.5 floppy drive. Neither are really cons for me, though. Pcb behind the front/top panel is kinda chinsey.

Other Thoughts: Has tons of space behind the mobo mount panel for large power supply harnesses. I was able to jam almost the entire harness of my Rosewill Fortress 650 in the cavity, and I am only using 1 sata and 1 pci express 6 pin in addition to the standard mobo power connectors. The Fortress 650 has a huge harness for its wattage rating, too. Nice access hole in the mobo mount panel, you can change/install cooler support brackets on the back of the board without removing it. "Old School" quality gauge steel construction. Fans are decent quality and silent on the low and medium setting. They are audible on high, however. Case is MASSIVE! I was not expecting this case to be this large, I am used to the old-school ATX cases. You can tell I have not bought a new case in about 15 years. Could seem like a daunting task to set up especially with no instructions, takes about 3 hours to set up nicely. I did not even use ANY of the internal 5.25 inch trays, removed them all and mounted my 2.5" Seagate Momentus on the back of the mobo mount panel.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: 1)Smart and well designed.
2)Looks great.
3)Can be quiet. Wire Management is great.
4)Screws and 2 fans supplied.
5)Love the Hard Drive Cage- a lot of slots and easy to use.

Cons: 1) Gets warm when configured to be quiet.
2)Virtually no instructions, might be tough for a first time build.
3)The fan controller will only support 3 pin, not 4 pin fans.
4)Has a neat spot to mount SSD, but I didn't: to swap or replace would require removing MB or PS. (correct me if I am wrong, again no directions to tell me otherwise)

Other Thoughts: My favorite case in the last 15 years.

5 out of 5 eggsStellar Case! So Much Room!

Pros: Case was packaged very securely.
Everything feels sturdy and well constructed.
ROOM! Tons and tons of room!
Cable management is excellent!
Good sound deadening, almost whisper quiet.
Top fan mounts are perfect for a Corsair H100i radiator mount (currently is mounted in my R4).

Cons: So far, no cons to report.

Other Thoughts: Wish it came with more fans but, not really a big deal, nor a con.
