5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Sleek, and spacious
Fits everything!
SO quiet, I have to look through the window sometimes to check if its on lol.

Cons: My CPU runs hotter than in my old case.. will have to buy some more fans. Airflow seems to be affected by all the sound-proofing of this case.

5 out of 5 eggsFractal Design impresses

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: This case is well thought out in every conceivable way. In addition to all the things you'd come to expect in this price range are all the little details that you don't see elsewhere:
--Extra, rear SSD mounts.
--Removable and adjustable HDD bay.
--Easy and effective fan filters and fan cleaning.
--Ridiculous, cavernous space in the rear for cable management.
--Allow you to mount fans all over the place
--Includes 2, high quality, & quiet 140MM fans.
--The included screw/rubber gromet packs are phenomenal too.
--Rear thumb screws stay in the bare panels when removed.
--Everything inside is steel. The HDD bays, the rear, removable blanks, etc.
--The metal, front 5.25" breakout panel can be reinstalled (to use 3.5")
--Sound dampening material throughout and it does a good job.

It's a very pretty case. It's not too bland and not some overboard rave party either. Looks nicer in person than in these pics (most cases do).

It's a really solid, sturdy case. They don't get much more solid than this (out of numerous cases, only my Antec p180 is more robust, and that thing's a tank).

It's quite massive for a "mid-tower" case. It's really large inside (wide and deep) so it can surely accommodate any CPU fan you'd want to use (widest depth from window to board I've ever seen). It also can handle the Extended ATX motherboards (I'm using a huge Gigabyte Sniper.G2 board) and easily handle long video cards.

Basically, you can do any build you want with this case. I doesn't limit you in any way that I can see.

Cons: --Heavy and LARGE. (not necessarily a con, but it's a beast).
--No proper HDD light (only a power LED).
--Power LED is kind of bright.

Other Thoughts: I have numerous higher-end cases from Antec, NZXT and Corsair and this Fractal Design unit is easily as impressive as those. I have never worked with a case that was so well designed (to work in) and user friendly.

I got this on a whim when it was Seventy dollars and I feel like I stole it. I would have felt comfortable paying up to $150 for this case. I got it to replace my GFs older Antec P180 and I'm jealous of her new R4 case.

I will be buying a Fractal Design again in the future. The quality is top notch.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent. Rock-solid construction. Awesome case

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: With the right fans, this case serves its main purpose, which is silence. The minimalist design is very appealing. Extremely well-built. Plenty of room for larger cooling requirements. Best case I have ever owned.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you are thinking of buying it, don't wait.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid, heavy, QUIET

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: This is an incredible case. It's heavy and is padded with noise dampening material. All areas inside the case are easily accessible, and there is a lot of room to work with. Plenty of spare parts are provided. The case is also pretty wide

Cons: A few minor complaints.
- If you wish to mount SSDs outside the drive bays, you must mount them before the motherboard, as you will need to access the screws. This wasn't an issue for me, but it may be for some.

- The documentation is next to worthless. Which screws are used to attach which components to the case? As this is my first build, I spent a couple of hours guessing and maybe getting this right.

Other Thoughts: I ended up going with this over the R5 for the free shipping. I can't imagine many improvements that would make me regret that decision. Not all of the drive cages are removable, which one could conceivably want for airflow.

5 out of 5 eggsGood case, Superb Customer Service

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Space
All wires "hideable" behind the MoBo
Removeable filters to help keep cleaner
Sleek look, Simple and elegant
Excellent customer service.

Cons: Only supports top mounted water cooler.

Other Thoughts: I have the corsair H100 water cooler and was only able to be top mounted. I chose to make this a push config with air blowing out which is not Ideal but with all other fans having filters to pull into the case it was the logical answer. Case stays relatively clean, the biggest issue with top mounting is that opens up the case for dust to fall in when power is off.

I've had the case for over a year and I love it. The look, the feel, the buttons, everthing is top notch. I've only had one issue with the case and that was my fault. Headset was plugged into the front audio ports and i stood up and tripped over wires ripping the front of the case off and breaking the audio in/out port. This is where superb customer service comes in. I went the the Fractal Design website and put in a ticket, had an email response within hours asking for a few more peices of info. Replied, the next day I was informed a replacement audio in/out port had been shipped, with FedEx tracking numbers. Also received an email from FedEx with said tracking numbers. Received package, installed, working. HAPPY CUSTOMER

Thanks Fractal Design, I will certainly purchase another product in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat Design, One Major Flaw

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: - Great, modern design
- Easy to work with, plenty of room to run cables, good airflow
- Removable HD tray to improve airflow if you don't have more than four HDs

Cons: - Front fan is only held in by plastic clips (see comments below)
- Cable connecting front USB ports becomes loose very easily (known defect on support page but easy to fix)

Other Thoughts: This would have been a 5 star case EXCEPT for the way the way the front fan mounts. After a couple months I ordered two new fans because I was hearing a constant vibrating noise and assumed one of the fans was going bad. Upon replacing the fans I noticed a major weakness with the design of this case: The front fan mounts inside a plastic bracket (which can hold two fans) with a couple clips - this fits very secure and snug. However that plastic bracket then mounts inside the case with a couple plastic clips. It seems that connection is not as snug which causing the vibrating noise because if I apply pressure to the sides of the front panel of the case, the noise goes away.

5 out of 5 eggsBest case I have owned

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Easily the best ATX case I have purchased. I am more than pleased with this case from top notch build quality, and attention to detail make it a pleasure to work with. I had no problems at all assembling my new machine due to space or layout issue. I will definitely be purchasing this line of cases again in the future.

Cons: Nothing Really.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Case looks amazing.
Very big with plenty of room.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: The top of the case seemed to be someone smashed in but only slightly. It could have happened during careless shipping or it could be the way the case is made. Either way, not worth docking an egg or complaining about.
Got it on sale for $76

5 out of 5 eggsPhenomenal!!!

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: The size, for one. It has so much room inside, and is so wide that even the back of the motherboard tray has room for all the cables you can imagine stuffing back there!

It's sturdy. I have rarely encountered a case this strongly built. there are no creaks or groans if you puxh on it.

Plus it is extremely quiet, even with two fron intake, 1 bottom intake, on top exhaust and one rear exhaust. Use the Fractal fans and you'll get this level of quiet plus near-perfect airflow!

I love the 8 HDD bays, plus the mounting point on back of motherboard tray for an SSD. My server appreciates all the HDD space!

Cons: Only one. Mounting the SSd to the back of motherboard tray requires removal of the motherboard...or installation before the motherboard.
It's not enough to knock off an egg tho.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this black one for my server, and am very very happy. Every HDD bay is filled, and without the clutter of external enclosure add-ons!
