4 out of 5 eggsNice, solid case

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: The case is well-built, solid and perfectly suited for my needs. Leaving out the second internal drive tray leaves plenty of room for a video card. I really like the mesh

Cons: The LED light on the power button stopped working a month after purchase. The hard disk LED is excessively bright (I've seen some bright LEDs on computer cases in my time. This one has to be the brightest I've seen by far!) Did not include any screws.

Other Thoughts: Four eggs mostly because of the faulty LEDs on the panel and the missing screws. I checked the box upon receipt and there was no tampering. So i'm not sure why I got bilked out of the screws. Otherwise I would recommend this case for anyone looking for a solid descent looking case.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY!

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Nothing!

Cons: Thumbscrews are terrible, they won't even come out so I can't put any video cards in there. The motherboard stand holes are not aligned properly you have to stretch the board to get it to fit!

Very cheap case if you put barely any force on certain parts they will break. Example for mine is I was getting the front panel off to put in my DVD drive and I put no force into sliding the cover off and the latch that holds it in place snaps immediately.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY, WASTE OF MONEY!

5 out of 5 eggsFractal Design Core 3000

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: As a system builder / integrator we have used a lot of different cases from many manufactures. This case has by far been one of the very best we have used.

It looks nice for both business and enthusiast. HDD slots simple to use and work with both SSD and standard HDD drives with out an adapter. Good air flow and it is very quiet. Cable management is easy as well.

As long as they keep making these cases we will keep on buying them.

Cons: None that we have found over 300+ builds with this case.

Other Thoughts: Not a con but it would be nice to see firewire or a thunderbolt port on the top in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsmediocre product and lousy QC

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: cheap.

Cons: feels flimsy. The only reason I bought this case is for the USB3.0 ports that my Antec 300 does not have.
lousy QC. the top fan included is defective. It gives loud noise no matter how I adjust the position and tighten/loosen the screws. Have to buy a separate fan to replace it and all is well. I put the defective fan on hand and it feels unbalanced - my hand can feel the shake when turn it on. Bad QC.

Other Thoughts: The holes to position the motherboard are misaligned, had to really bent the motherboard to fit the position. other reviewers also mentioned this problem, seems common to this case.

Although the price was right, I still feel disappointed. My next purchase will be likely an Antec again. They replaced a broken front USB panel after 2.5 years of use when I emailed them without any questions asked (warranty was 3 years), and I received the parts within only a few days.

3 out of 5 eggsAffordable.

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Solid cheap easy to work with computer case. Lots of room for cooling fans. Good cable management

Cons: Fan controller does not supply enough power to the fans.
Case scratches easily.

Other Thoughts: Buy a fan controller when you buy this case. The fan controller it comes with does not supply enough power to support the two 140mm fans and the single 120mm fan.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat general computing case

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Ingress fan filters.
Detachable front leaves the wiring intact in the case (i.e. doesn't leave front attached by the panel wires). This is a huge + for me.
Comes with fans, fans also have braided covers on the wires.
Panel wiring is pre-routed behind the motherboard.
Motherboard standoff positions are clearly indicated.
Powder coat inside and out looks and feels good.
White and black contrast looks sharp.
Base mounted PSU
External watercooling compatible
Dual 140mm fan/radiator possible on top
Has a 140mm in front, additional space is for a 120mm though.

Cons: On the one I got, the hard drive trays were placed in awkwardly, this meant the white trays got their paint rubbed off on the rougher black powder coat. Not worth taking an egg off for but was still a bit of a grumble

Other Thoughts: I will definitely buy these again. They are just that bit better than my previous go-to case of the Antec 300.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: sturdy, clean lines, lots of airflow, stock fans are quite good, room for a 240/280 rad up top

Cons: front panel can be annoying to get off the first couple times, especially if you're like me and have sausage fingers. the removable hard drive mounts didn't line up with the tapped holes once removed, so the cage needed the thru holes enlarged

Other Thoughts: as mentioned in the cons, the removable hard drive bays didn't line back up once removed, but it was a simple fix with the drill. case cables are long, and management holes work well. the i/o ports are on the top so they are prone to dust buildup. not really a con for this particular case, but rather all cases designed as such. it is mostly tool-less but a couple thumbscrews are too tight to be removed by hand straight out of the box. again, hardly worth mentioning

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: The right size for me, front usb2&3, plenty of fans, moderately quiet, plenty of room for a non-gaming home use computer build, the price was right.

Cons: delivered from Newegg in the original box with one of the two front USB2 ports not working

Other Thoughts: I used this case for just my second build so take that into account. When one of the front usb ports did not work I tried moving the connectors to another header on the motherboard. Didn't work. Sent an email to Fractal Design. Got an immediate response. Did exactly what the Tech said to no avail. Email back the Tech and he said they would have a replacement part in the mail asap. Got the part in a few days and installed. Everything works fine. That is what I call customer service.

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Low cost, perfect platform for a performance or gaming build.

Cons: Doors thin, easy to warp.

Other Thoughts: Easily worth the purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsA sweet deal, not without its faults

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 3000 FD-CA-CORE-3000-USB3-BL Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Wonderful cable routing options, as toolless as possible, great looks, great cooling.

Cons: Some threading issues, especially with the standoffs and thumb screws.

Other Thoughts: For the money, this is a knockout. Ridiculous build quality and features. Where it falls short is in the fine details, like the hard to seat side covers and seemingly weak threading, leading to (admittedly hurried) cross-threading. Weld in some bolsters to the screw holes and this would be a $250 case for $120.
