5 out of 5 eggsbeautiful case on the front

This review is from: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-TI Titanium Grey Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: beautiful titanium metallic color on front
sleek
quiet
roomy

Cons: heavy, but that's to be expected
the plastic feet on the bottom are cheap, and putting it back on my desk, it got stuck and 1 broke off...thank goodness for super glue but still...the rest of the case is quality and those were not.

5 out of 5 eggsBrilliant Case

This review is from: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-TI Titanium Grey Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Very quiet, Sleek, Good simple design, Easy USB access, comes with a large assortment of hardware.

Cons: Large, heavy

Other Thoughts: I just got this case to replace my custom built mid tower because my switch broke and had no desire to source one and retrofit it. Lost interest in that project. This case for the money is very much worth the purchase. Dead quiet. My fiance's PC sits about 3 feet away and mine is right next to me.. I hear hers over mine consistently even when mine is under a heavier load. for me I don't like lots of LED's and such cluttering my living room or loud electronics disturbing the peace. This case meets those requirements Front door is sturdy and feels nice when you open it. Fans come installed with front, back and bottom. I did have to rotate the bottom fan to run the wiring in the picky way that i prefer but how easy is that really. Very easy to hide excess wiring and case comes sound insulated. I wrote in cons that this case is large. If you don't feel you have room for a full tower I suggest a mid ATX or another full with smaller dimensions. This Tower is large for a full tower. It is heavy due to it's sound insulation but that is a trade off I am 100 percent willing to trade for.. 10/10 would buy again.

4 out of 5 eggsFractal Design Define XL R2

This review is from: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-TI Titanium Grey Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: The size of this case is massive, and the weight of this case is really heavy. instead of building a computer, this may seem like you are building a fireproof box. Appearance is very clean and sleek. I like that a lot in my older age. I prefer something that does not stand out so much with all sorts of lights and glowing eyes. Removing the side panels from the case, you see the sound dampening foam board like material, and the panels are pretty heavy. I was not anticipating their weight, but it does a good job keeping things quiet. I also like the fan covers that once again, keeps holes or grilles closed, to maintain cooling, and low noise. you get plenty of screws, and even a neat stand-off fastener which I appreciated greatly. The hard drive trays are aluminum as well. They are very sturdy, can mount SSD without any special spacers, and HDD sound is reduced greatly with the rubber padding. Cable management is great. I don't have the greatest power supply, but the cables were long enough to reach everything they needed to reach, so I am happy about that. This is my favorite case by far that I have worked in.

Cons: Knocked an egg off for some of the cons here. First thing is, for a case as massive as this is, the plate that holds your motherboard is incredibly thin. While attaching the standoffs, I was noticing that there was a bit of dipping going on. once the board was in place, I no longer noticed it, but it worried me a bit and I am hopeful it does not decide to warp.

One of the fans on the bottom seem to have a strange wiring issue going on. It would not power on until I moved the cable around, and then it spun up. poor wiring for an expensive fan is not something I like to see. Not going to bother with an RMA over a single fan, but looking at the price of a replacement, I expected this to work.

The heat tube that was applied around the cables for the fans, and other headers like USB, and Audio were very loose. So loose I was able to slide them around. Certainly I could have grabbed my heat-gun or solder iron to tighten it up some more, but I shouldn't have to do that with a case. The wires are thin, and one set of wires almost looks like they are exposed from being scraped.

The fans for the front really do not like to dual up, even though the case says you can put two in. The power cables are thick and the fans are very close to each other making it a very tight fit, and a very hard to put the compartment back in.

And for the sake of listing something I did not see at all, there is no HDD indicator light. It's hardly an issue, but I like to have one to see if any of my drives are having issues reading, or thrashing. I hate not knowing, but I am sure I can find something, or plug the power LED into HDD. For all those cons, I only knocked one egg off. Cons aside, this is still a good case, but some QC seemed to be lacking.

Other Thoughts: I've been building computers for 16 years, and I have always loved having full size cases. This one is massive, huge, heavy, but I love how solid it feels, and how much room it gives me to work. Same goes for cooling. more room, cables out of the way, should keep the case running cool. The price can be intimidating, but it is worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a RELIEF!!

This review is from: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-TI Titanium Grey Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: I will modify or update this review when I do the build. I just want to say one thing about Newegg, and computer cases: On almost every case review that I have read, on many different companies’ cases, 95% of the one star reviews are because it had a cracked door, or broken foot. Shipping that back would be a real PITA, so I am VERY happy that Newegg/FedEx got it to me in PERFECT shape! Upon inspection, it should work as described.
I have all of the following parts for my build:
Asrock OC Formula, 3.1
Intel 5930K
SAMSUNG 950 PRO M.2 512GB
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB K|NGP|N
RAM? Heck if I know. LOL I’m going with either 64GB in 16GB sticks, or 128 GB.
I have about a dozen SATA III hard drives, loaded with TV and films, that have all been running at SATA II on my old build. They will now be entirely UNLEASHED!! Moving a 20GB Bears game around takes too much time.

Cons: The thumbscrews in the rear are very stiff, and may need to be worked with a screwdriver, and a drop of lube. to get them to work with thumb and forefinger. I am SURE that I can get them to loosen up.

Other Thoughts: YES! DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED.

4 out of 5 eggs2 Week Update

This review is from: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-TI Titanium Grey Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Nice, sleek looking case.

Cons: It's a BIG case.

Other Thoughts: Since writing my last review (http://www.newegg.com/profile/reviews/Yk9OY0p0RTg5UzVvNzJwYjBqM2ozYThxNlRjTDU0Vnk=), I have contacted Fractal Design, and they sent me a full set of replacement feet for free. Changing out the feet is as simple as removing a screw. Very happy with Factal's customer service.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-TI Titanium Grey Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Best case I have owned so far, quality pricing ratio is excellent.

Cons: Case nut screws can be hard to remove and re-install. Only 3 fans included, it could use a 4th fan considering the size of the case.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Purchase

This review is from: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-TI Titanium Grey Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Built in fans are super quiet, keeps everything cool, easy case to build in, great first case

Cons: The side panel thumb screws don't line up perfectly on my case so it is a little hard to unscrew them by hand

5 out of 5 eggsHeavy

This review is from: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-TI Titanium Grey Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: More room than you would actually believe. I consider this a pro, some may consider this a con, but the case is very heavy. I like this because there is no chance of it getting knocked over by anything (such as little kids). If you are a little person you might consider a lighter case, after you add in several hard drives, power supply etc. you will likely be at 45 - 50 lbs easy.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The only other note I will make is, you likely will need long sata cables. I had to change my short ones because of where the hook ups were at on my mother board and just because the case was so large.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic case

This review is from: Fractal Design Define XL R2 FD-CA-DEF-XL-R2-TI Titanium Grey Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: In 25 years of building computers, this is hands-down the best tower-style computer case I have ever used. Tons of space, tons of ventilation options, built like a bank vault.

Cons: Absolutely none if you are aware that it is BIG and HEAVY.

Other Thoughts: Worth every penny!
