4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case with Minor Issues

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Very nice case and great quality for a sub $40 case. The layout is perfect and the chassis really light. All black paint inside and out looks super nice once the build is complete.

Awesome air-flow...

Cons: Some issues:

1. Piece of paper stuck where the motherboard mounts that got painted over at the factory. However, the motherboard covers this.

2. Not wide enough for the ever popular Cooler Master Hyper 212. Only 3mm more width would just fit this amazing and favorite CPU cooler.

3. FINGER PRINTS... lol... this is just the paint they use. Not a huge deal, but annoying when moving it around.

Other Thoughts: Slapped a mini-ITX board in this case with an i3 - 4370. Sadly had to use the stock cooler because I didn't' have time to order a different one.

Other than that, building in this case was an easy experience.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case for the money.

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Great little ITX/M-ATX case. Decent to build in, unique drive mounting. Overall good experience. Would recommend. Build came out to be silent.

Cons: My only gripes were that the PSU was top-mounted, and that they should've made room for at least a 120mm fan in the rear. Also, I had to use my only extra fan screws to mount the front 120mm fan on the side because it didn't include any.

Other Thoughts: I'm pretty sure Fractal could've made room for dual 120mm intakes in the front. Should fit. But oh well.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little case

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Delivered quick!
These are nice little cases for basic home office PC's. They are easy to work with, good air flow, have a good 120 mm fan in front, and are light weight, almost too light.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Good solid case for a basic home ofiice PC I build for a customer.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing look and durability for the $

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Very versatile case. Nice and roomy. Nice sturdy chassis and not cheap / thin aluminum like most inexpensive cases. The front bottom half has an easy removable filter witch is a nice addon. This is going to be great for any M ATX or ITX build.

Cons: Honestly... None.

Other Thoughts: I've built several types of systems in this case and I love it. Of course I love my higher end cases but I really cannot think of one con about this inexpensive case.

5 out of 5 eggsFractal Design Core 1000

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Great Little case for my old gaming guild to go into for my Girlfriend. Easy to use and put together with tooless screws all over. Got it on a discount to for $30. Runs pretty quiet too!

Cons: Fingerprint magnet on the top and feels a bit flimsy at points but thats to be expected from this price point.

Other Thoughts: Has room to fit longer GPUs but you sacrifice HDD space to fit them. Has a really unconventional way of mounting the HDDs sideways on a pillar up against the case wall to fit those big cards in. I don't think you could fit 2 there if you have a large card.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty nice looking budget case. Take it only if you love it, because it has been a pain.

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Very affordable. Looks great. Front USBs and jacks are convenient. Most of the screws are thumb screws.

Comes with a front-mounted 120mm fan. Fan runs silent at low speeds, but a fan controller can make it hum if you need it to. Entire front panel has a dust filter.

Cons: Cable management? Nope. It was my mistake to get a non-modular power supply. Highly recommend you pick up a modular one for this case. I just stuff all the wires between the PSU and the front bay and stick them behind the odd side-mounted hard drive space. That probably messes up the front panel airflow, but hey, I do what I have to do.

Some of the internal screws are a pain to install due to being thumb screws. Bulky screws+tight quarters=not so good. So not entirely a pro.

One of the side panels is an incredible pain to take on/off. I think one of those tabs was bent in a chevron shape, so I'm not fixing that...had to hammer it down, which still makes the side panel a bit of a pain.

Motherboard was a NIGHTMARE to install. Very little room to move microatx sized boards, and I couldn't put it in properly when I put the rear panel in first. Had to hold the panel on the MOBO and somehow shove it in there together. No idea how I was finally able to do it.

Speaker was not included, so I have no satisfying beep on start up.

Won't be able to fit regular-sized fans on the side of the case if you use a tall CPU cooler. I'd recommend getting a fan smaller than 2cm wide. For reference, I use a Cooler Master Hyper TX3. Was JUST unable to mount my Fractal R2 fan on there.

Other Thoughts: I'd suggest taking the 5.25" bay dust filters and fixing them up to cover the side and rear fan openings.

It looks like you might be able to rig it up so that you can mount a second 120mm fan in the front panel.

I sure did list a lot of cons. And it really pulled my pork at times. So objectively I'd have to give it two to three-ish eggs. But I love it. It looks great and I wouldn't settle for another case even if somebody gave me a better one for free. Probably because it's too much of a hassle to remove the motherboard from it, heyo!

But you'll probably be happier if you just got something bigger in the first place.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply incredible

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Everything. It fits all of my high end hardware, yet is nice and compact. It looks simplistic and beautiful. Materials are quality and it is easy to build and modify; plenty of room.. For the price, it is hard to go wrong.

Did the dual 120mm fan intake mod and stuck a fan on the side. Silent, yet has fantastic airflow.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: Liked it so much I bought 2.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Sturdy, came in good condition despite less desirable stiff foam packaging. Not that heavy, but still sturdy feeling.

It's a plain box to put components in for a super low price, that's about it.

Cons: This was used in a build for a new office PC. Drive mounts aren't that great, and could have been a lot better if there had just been an HDD cage to begin with, instead of the fancy little side mounting thing.

If you have large hands like me, prepare to get them bruised up building in this thing. Then again, it's a small case so you would expect that.

There isn't much to say, it's small, it's plain, it's nothing special. Complete and utter lack of cable management,. SUPER bright power LED.

Not a 120mm rear exhaust, which I supposed I should have seen. so I can't deduct for that.

Other Thoughts: I'm not trying to be down on this case, the styling is good, the build quality seems great, and it fulfills its purpose.

I didn't give it 3 eggs because of any problems, but rather because it didn't wow me. Although I will say that the drive mounting solution is lacking, I suppose it is the way it is for airflow, even though they could have just put a filter on the side panel fan spot, and put in a normal cage system, would have been loads of room for drives then.

Overall, it is what I expected, a low priced, minimalistic box to put PC components in. Nothing more, nothing less. Only disappointment was the drive bays, and the rear fan, which are my fault anyways for not reading.

3 out of 5 eggsonly if

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: the core series 1000 is a nice budget case that's pretty solid

Cons: as for the case it self it's ok for my itx build

Other Thoughts: i fault newegg for the parts that where missing on this case, the user's manual subject a vertical Harddrive tray which mounts Hdd's on anti vibration silicone grommets PAGE 3 OF THE USER'S MANUAL, if
newwegg would have said this is as is it would have been ok but that's not
what was advertised, after all these years newegg is falling short in dependability, shipping what you ordered and not leaving orders behind and yet charging you..shame, shame, shame !

4 out of 5 eggsALMOST

This review is from: Fractal Design Core 1000 FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL Black Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: nice small itx and mini itx case, firm and steady the design is that it's small enough to put anywhere and not be an eye sore

Cons: i took one egg because it didn't have a rear fan in the case, but the spec's from the pamphlet says it should have one but since it was on
sell and i had ordered some fans prior i'm not that upset.

Other Thoughts: the rear fan is one of the most important fans in the case and should be thier i didn't buy from an open box
