3 out of 5 eggsUsing it for 2 months now... meeeh.

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: Looks nice. I like the black painted innards - makes it darker than the inside of a cats you-know-what. Front panel is the best part of the case, with as many I/O options most people would ever need. Great power button. Reset button is far below the power button and flush in the front panel - eliminating accidental resets.

Cons: Back panel PCI slots are junk. Very flimsy. There's a metal latch that swings closed over the PCI card's tabs... absolutely useless and then it falls off when you breath on it. Just throw it away. The card slot covers are stamped out along with the whole back panel, so when you pop it off, it's done. No going back. Bring your own ATX PCI slot covers to the party. You might wanna spray paint them flat black to match.

Other Thoughts: I build and repair PC for a living, so I've seen better, and some worse. For under $50, it's a great case if you overlook the back pane issues. I really like the looks, but that's a matter of personal taste.

2 out of 5 eggsStay away! Find something else!

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: Visually appealing. Lots of front-side ports. Comes with light-up chassis fan. Power supply on the bottom of the device. Reset & Power buttons at safe distance to prevent users from blindly hitting reset instead of power-down.

Cons: No manual, just a sheet with somewhat helpful instructions. No slots intended for 3.5" drives. Has room for three 5" devices, and indicates "tool free" but it doesn't indicate how to install without screws. Front-side pop-outs are a pain. Indicates that it supports "cable management" but slots line up with where components are supposed to be installed (1 under power, one under motherboard, one under middle 5" slot) so only about 1/3 of the slots can actually be used for cable management. Only has space for two mid-size chassis fans with no space for addons. Lower hard drive slots require that screws be installed in with a tool LESS THAN 1.5" long because of the poor dimensions of the case.

Other Thoughts: This could have been a really good piece of hardware if the designers hadn't made half of the specs mutually exclusive (space for cable management, but not if you want to install a power supply, space for 3.5" drives, but not if you want to be able to screw them in)
Very disappointed about this purchase

3 out of 5 eggsAlright case, could use improvements

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: Some of the pros are somewhat degraded by some of the cons(read cons below for explanation), but there are pros worth mentioning.

It fits large video cards and other large add-ons(cpu cooler, etc.) It has two of each of USB 2.0 and 3.0, along with an SD reader and audio ports on the front panel. It comes with two fans and they're surprisingly not terribly loud. The design looks cool, and it seems sturdy for the most part. It doesn't seem like it will fall apart or damage too easily on the outside. See-through side panel.

Cons: Only supports two fans, one front and one in back. Wiring issue with one of the fans made it to where I had to mess with and force the wire to prevent it from interfering with the fan(the fan wire kept going into the fan blades, which caused it to stop, though at least it didn't keep going and cut the wire. The back panel didn't line up with some of the ports, and it looks terrible, no matter what I tried. Luckily it's the back so you won't see it as much. I haven't tested all of the back ports yet, but the ones I have(two USB, network cable, and audio jack), you are able to at least get what's needed to connect, though it may take a little finesse(as it did when connecting my mouse via USB) May have just been my case though, and not a problem with all of them. The tool for the mounting system for the CD/DVD drives was flawed and wouldn't work as intended so I had to use a screw(that was not provided with the case, but as an extra with my motherboard I believe) Not to mention it was also somewhat irritating to even get it to line up properly. I saw one review where a person said that the top one was unusable due to the front I/O panel, but I used the top one, with only that mounting system problem(though the problem was the same with the lower port). Some of the mounting points for the motherboard were unusable, but enough of them were at least that I got it to remain stationary and stable. The cable management system is just not there. The fact that it has space for large expansion cards and CPU coolers is greatly overshadowed by the fact that you will have wires everywhere due to lack of cable control. At one point some of the wires were even touching some components they really shouldn't(heatsink, cpu fan, video card fan) and I had to do some adjusting and even after, it's still iffy at best. When you look through the side panel, its all wires. The airflow seems poor. Not really any entry/exit points for air anywhere except where the two fans are.

Other Thoughts: I bought this case at $43.79(plus the same shipping costs as it is now) and it wasn't a terrible(but could have been far better) buy at that cost. It's not a case that I would buy again, but if you don't need a lot of airflow, and don't mind a lack of wire management, it's not bad.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap price, cheap product

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: mesh Air filters in front panel(not sure if thats what they are for, but they will catch all the dust around).
looks nice from a distance.
USB2 and 3 ports on front.
SD card reader on front.
2 fans, 1 in front and 1 in the rear of the case
fans have two way they can be powered.

Cons: VERY cheaply made, very flimsy inside and out.
air filter(s) on front, HA, you have to take the case apart to get to them.(you'll be doing that every few months)
picture shows the case lit up in the front and the inside by the fans,,NOT so( or mine don't work) the fan blades are red but you can not see them when it's put together.
NO Instructions, just a picture of the case pointing out some of the features.
PCI access slots are not cut out you must remove them as needed), and NO screws supplied for the PCI access slots.
there is a very cheap plastic cover for the locking screws for the PCI slots,,,VERY CHEAP PLASTIC
Case has spots for 2(TWO) 3.5 hard drives and 1(ONE) SSD drive.
a place for a 3.5 floppy drive...WHY???
there is spaces for 2(two) 5.25 drives(DVD/Blueray) the top spot is unusable.(USB and card reader block the top space)
front USB and card reader cables are in the way of the DVD drive(s) you must route the wire(s) over and behind the DVD drives.
there is a reset button? not sure why. do motherboards still use reset buttons? most just require you to hold the power button for a few seconds.

BOTTOM mounted power supply..For the Love of.., WHY? heat rises. why would you put the power supply on the bottom? plus the power supply fan sucks in air from the bottom, which if mounted in the upper part of the case would help suck out the HOT air from the motherboard and other components.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money on this case. it truly is not worth it. if they were giving it away for FREE, it would not be worth the money.
one more thought on the bottom mounted PS: I bought a lighted power supply. it's get mounted at the bottom of the case, now all that lights up is the desk under the case. AWESOME(sarcasm).

I bought this on new egg's e- bay listing, I'm not sure what I was expecting but I thought I'd get a better product from New Egg than this garbage.

2 out of 5 eggsNot an optimal case for the long run

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: Pros: The price. Stand offs the the mother board. Also easy to use. Front IO is nice.

Cons: Where to start. The case only comes with two fans. Also it is impossible to install more. The over all material feels like cheap metal and plastic. Also the Expansion bays are non-customizable. The Instructions are not the best but really there is nothing that the case is going to be difficult to understand. Probably the worst part about this case is the limitation of the only 2 fans. Because of this limitation I was forced to acquire a new one. Also Cable management is really tough on this case. You really have to use the push and slid method allot with this case.

Other Thoughts: Overall its not a bad case if your trying to find something solid for a low level entry gaming rig but it diffidently has very persistent limitations so buy a new one if you want to really expand you gaming. Definitely feels a bit some what cheap. This case is not fro someone looking to build a 1000 dollar rig but rather maybe a 400-600 dollar build.

4 out of 5 eggsReally nice

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: An excellent budget case. Looks sharp. Most of the features of bigger more expensive cases but cheaper. I would not hesitate to recommend this or buy it again. Two USB3 and two USB2 placed well. Nice switches placed well. Room to mount everything, Great looking window on left side and matching bump out on right side for cable management. Available in different colors. Lights up nicely. Pretty compact and light. It was a joy to build. Steak on a hamburger budget. Don't hesitate on this one. I am quite impressed with the DIYPC product. Don't get me wrong, it's not the best case around by far but for a well made, great looking, feature laden case for $35 on sale it is one of the best if you like the styling which I do very much

Cons: Steel is a little thin so don't be rough with it.

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: good looks, windowed case

Cons: terrible airflow, i have a msi r9 280 in there that barely fit and the fans are so weak that air dosent flow through enough and my cpu and gpu overheats

4 out of 5 eggsA Great Buy

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: Definitely looks really cool

Cost! $40 was definitely worth it

The finish on the metal is pretty nice

The front is well thought out. Nice design, functional airflow.

Cons: Side panel window had a small scratch upon arrival(nothing noticeable unless you're an inch away from the panel)

If I shake the side panel, I can hear the window rattle in its mount... I feel like glue should've been used. But, it may be a replaceable window. Not quite sure.

Upon putting in my optical drive, I ran into a few snags.
1: Finding out that the reset button cable is connected to the rest of the front panel connectors, and Had to split the cable down the middle to get my drive in without disconnecting the reset switch.
2: The tool-free mounts are cheap, and break easily, so my optical drive slides out sometimes when I carry the case.
3: A standard length optical drive covers up the topmost cable management hole for the front panel connectors, so PUT THEM THROUGH FIRST.

I have a very small board, so all my connectors are in weird places, and this case accommodated for those potential snags with little work involved!

The PCI-E mounts on the rear need some work. The otherwise intuitive design of the swinging plate to lock down cards didn't have any locking mechanism per slot. It just pushes down on the mount where your screws would go. I should have at least the option to screw down my cards. Also, don't put anything in the last slot. I had to bend the plate to get it to fit on afterwards.

Other Thoughts: You will need LEDs to see your parts through the side panel.

Overall a decent case. Would buy again!

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: Nice low price case, decent feature set.

Cons: Fairly tight arrangement, upper cutout for wires blocks cd/dvd drive tray slots. Hard to use reset button (my fingers are average, but the button is small, and must be pressed deeply to activate), wire for reset button is attached to rest of front panel wiring even though button is located below cd/dvd drive bays, blocking insertion of drives unless you peel the wire apart.

Other Thoughts: bought 2 of these cases for my kids custom builds. Probably a little small for the hardware inside including a liquid CPU cooler, and a full length radeion r9 270x video card. Pieces went in fine except for the optical drives.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent Case for Price, Poor Material Choice

This review is from: DIYPC Solar-M1-R Black/Red SECC ATX Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Computer Case w/ 2 x 120mm Red Fans

Pros: Nice case aesthetically for a great price. Plenty of room for cable management and easy to remove side panels. Plenty of screws.

Cons: Installing new HDDs may become a pain as there are few internal bays and only 1 for an SSD. The standoff pins easily strip out and the instructions are lacking.

Other Thoughts: I would advise anyone purchasing this case to think about spending a few extra dollars for something a little higher quality. Decent for the price but the case is what you see/handle the most and so should spend some more on it
