4 out of 5 eggsA great first attempt by Cougar

Pros: Full tower size with a mid tower look (i.e. not overbearing or ridiculous). Lots of routing options inside. Plenty of removable fan filters to fight the war on dust. Full mesh front for maximal airflow. Front panel USB3. Built-in fan control separated into 2 groups. 7 fan slots (the more you give me, the more fans I will install... within reason)! The self-hiding SATA dock on top is great for recoveries and drive wipes. Spacious interior. Cougar design aesthetics.

Cons: (Mostly) everything is laid out well, but it's all a little flimsy. The drive trays are plastic (come on). The sides of my case are warped when not attached. Not a problem since they're attached, but still feels like they should be solid and square. Top 5.25" bay is unusable for optical drives because of the many cables going to the front panel array. You could fit shorter equipment up there though.

Other Thoughts: Having purchased several cougar turbine fans for many different builds, i thought I'd give the case a go to see how the workmanship measured up to established case manufacturers.

4 out of 5 eggsGood case overall

Pros: *Big case, plenty of room for even the biggest GPUs.
*Cable management space behind the mobo tray is nice
*German made, very well constructed.
*Looks pretty sick
*Tool-less design
*Bottom mounted PSU
*Hot swappable SATA drive on top of case
*Tons of USB including USB 3.0

Cons: *Tool-less bay hardware is kinda flimsy, drives move around somewhat. Ended up using screws anyway.
*Top 5.25" bay is basically unuseable due to FPANEL wires
*FPANEL fan control didn't work at all, had to connect fans to the MOBO
*Bottom fan slot wasn't thought out very well. All PSUs have a giant bundle of thick cables which will sit right where that fan is supposed to mount. A simple cage would have solved the problem of the wires getting into your blades.

Other Thoughts: Overall a freaking cool case for a decent price. Solid construction and plenty of room.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Case

Pros: Great case. I bought it specifically for Litecoin Mining and there are tons of fan options. I especially love the fact that you can remove the metal fan grills to improve airflow, on both the front of the case and top. Seriously an amazing case, and you should definitely consider if you are looking for 8 PCI Express Slots and a tall case.

Cons: Really none. It is a little difficult to take of the top cover off if both top fans are installed, but you can unscrew the fans through the grills in you take out the metal grates off.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: * Nice looking
* Big case to fit all the components you want

Cons: * If you want to use the top 5.25 bay, it will take a lot, I have to split all the cables coming from the top of the case in half and zip tie them to the roof, even with that there was almost no clearance because of the hard drive dock on the top of the case, I was able to fit my DVD drive in the top bay but it is way too tight because of pressing against the hard drive bay. Took more effort than any sane person should really put into trying to use just one 5.25 bay.

* Plastic clip broke on front air filter on first try to remove it. It didn't really bother me since I planned to remove all the air filters to increase air flow, but for those that may want to use them know that the plastic for the filters is flimsy so be careful not to break the clips.

* I would of liked more loops through out the case for use with zip ties for cable management

* The case is meant to have upward air flow, where there are two fans on the top and one on the bottom with the placement of the power supply that means having a bunch of power cables running over the bottom fan.

* The metal shelves in the 5.25 bay (the metal lip that the 5.25 device sits on) is wider than most cases I have dealt with, this won't affect 99% of people buying the case unless you're getting something that takes up more than one 5.25 bay, like a multi-hard drive bay. I had to cut some of the metal off the 5.25 shelf to fit a dual 5.25 bay component.

3 out of 5 eggsgood case

Pros: good case fits all that I need it to on hardware had the extra usb 3 ports i needed

Cons: It has a great amount of pace but how it is is setup on the mounts for fans makes it vary hard / unable to setup closed loop liquid cooling open loop fits fine closed loop mount will not fit in side of case... vary large con for cpu cooler

Other Thoughts: lots of space bad layout in the case for ware you can put fans and that stuff

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: excellent case with plenty of space. fan controller works great!!!! love this case and prefer it over any other!!!!

Cons: space on backside of motherboard mounting plate is lacking for cable management. needs to be a little more accommodating. the fan to be used in 5.25" drive bay area is great unless using a beefy liquid cooling unit that uses the 5.25" drive bay to house pump, radiator, fan and reserve tank

Other Thoughts: over all an excellent case and is perfectly designed for air flow. cant be beat as it will accept any motherboard and handle a triple or quad gpu setup no problem

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case, great price!

Pros: Spacious, well ventilated, room for more fans, fan controls.
SATA top mount
USB ports
Good quality construction.

Cons: Large graphics cards (Windforce or many of the R9 series) are a little cramped in here.

The one little side panel seems a little cheap, and not sure exactly what I was supposed to use to attach it permanently as none of the provided screws fit? Sits there nicely on its own however.

Other Thoughts: Great for a budget full size ATX case - don't get if you need a lot of space for multiple GPU's or water cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect case of budget built

Pros: just a perfect case of budget built, it comes with a lot of dust filter

Cons: the only con is it is definitely not a full tower, but the internal space is large

1 out of 5 eggsAfter Three Years, Everything Plastic Breaks and Customer Service is Non-Existent?

Pros: - The pre-installed fans are quiet and do the job well. The dust filters are a nice touch as well.

- Has an adequate amount of space to hold additional fans (with the exception of a additional front fan it mentions in its specifications (see below)).

- Having a SATA bay at the top of the case is convenient although I don't think I've used it all that often for its intended purpose.

- Big enough to hold even the biggest GPUs.

- The space for the PSU is mounted where it should be for cases.

- Black and orange aesthetics look sleek!

Cons: - Three of the four 3.5" tool less HDD trays at the bottom have snapped at the part you have to pinch to remove the drives. I have tried to contact Cougar customer service (USA) via email to purchase replacements and have not been emailed back after more than three weeks. Calling their support number (1-626-336-6588) rings forever with no answer. I have no way to replace these broken parts (someone let me know if you find a good replacement).

- The top 5.25" bay is completely blocked by wires (SATA cable, HDD indicators, Power SW, etc.). It is totally unsueable.

- The tool-less 5.25" bays are good for the single DVD Drive you'll put in your case. However, they do not work with any of the 3.5" to 5.25" adapters I've purchased for SATA HDDs (I've purchased multiple brands of adapters). They are essentially useless in my experience.

- The additional front fan you can install (120 mm) needs some sort of adapter. I was somehow shipped a unit without this adapter? I am very careful with all of my computer components so I really don't think I could have lost it. Why not have a space to install the fan on the removable front faceplate instead? Regardless, I'm willing to purchase this missing adapter if I was able to.

- After unscrewing the top of the case to install two 120 mm fans, "some plastic part" snapped/broke. The top of the case still reattached after installing the fans but I don't like that these little parts can break so easily. It was also slightly difficult to install these fans since I didn't want to tug at the wires the top of it has running inside of the case.

- Removing the front faceplate takes a lot of force. I was worried something was going to break like how everything else plastic has.

- There is no easy way to clean the front of faceplate with the plastic mesh pattern (get out your Q-Tips!). Note however: I did not try to remove the dust filter on the back of the faceplate, which you can do.

- The clear left side of the case vibrates after installing the 140 mm fan on it. I attempted to reinstall the fan multiple times with no change. Very annoying (I suppose this is why they (Cougar) sell the fans with padding at the corners to reduce vibration). I will probably screw through a piece of electrical tape at some point in the future to see if that solves the issue.

- The right side of the case to hold extra wires (that you don't want inside of the case to reduce airflow) does not have enough space. I had to almost sit on top of it, praying I didn't break any wires, to get it to close.

Other Thoughts: - I don't understand the eight (seven useable) 5.25" bays? Am I missing the idea behind having these slots available? I understand the idea of having space for an additional front fan, but why not add more available 3.5" slots instead?

- If you remove the bay for the four 3.5" HDD slots there is...a "plastic pedestal" with holes beneath it. It collects nothing but dust? Is it meant to help with cable management? Are we supposed to put excess cables down in there? Yet...none of my cables even touch that part of the case. I couldn't find anything in the manual/instruction booklet about it. Confusing. It seems its only purpose is to "prop up" the hard drive bay.

I've owned the case for almost three years now and I would absolutely never recommend this to someone else. I've had about seven years experience building computers. I've owned two previous "high end" cases, assembled all of my friend's entire rigs, and have assembled computers for my company. Yet I have never had this many issues with a single case. I'd like to think I am very delicate in handling these parts yet so so many of them have snapped. I will admit that this case did not have all these issues up-front and almost all of the Cons mentioned above have only appeared over the course of three years of ownership. Still, I think my ownership shows that this case has problems that are not apparent up-front and should be avoided.

If I had the extra money I would purchase an entirely new case. The Evolution has been my only personal case with tool-less parts and it will be my last.

I will update my review if Cougar Customer Service ends up contacting me.

2 out of 5 eggsUnity but cheap

Pros: It is screw less! It does have 1 hot swap bay its less than a $100 and free shiping

Cons: Wiring is clustered up so much it take up one of the 5" bays. Hot swap is SATA only. You connect a SATA control cable to your motherboard, as exasperated but you must use the old style power supple cable. this adds yet another cluster of cables.

Other Thoughts: Do you need to see your HDD Light? I don't but i cannot see it at all with the evolution on my desk
Hmm I guess i am use to my old one. A real light show every load up. But i did diagnosed a problem once when it would hang on start up. I hope i catch it with the evolution.
Is it a a modern Full ATX tower? No not SATA power cable ready, no. size is like a super mini ATX
